Weekend Woundup and Weview October 12

To weview the weekend I really need to go back a few days or even a few months. When we landed in Montana on July 10 we knew the next few months would be a sprint. Between a whole lot of driving, revivals, campmeetings, conferences and City Reach it has been a whirlwind of activity since then. 

We knew that it would be busy and we know there are some times like that. In fact, we would not have it any other way. We also knew we had four days scheduled to do nothing last week. That goal of good rest keeps us going some times.

But as we got closer to those days off I felt like we really needed to do some exploring and advance work for City Reach. We hope to take City Reach to Nashville in September 2016 but as of now we have no local churches partnering with us in Nashville. I needed to spend some time on the ground there looking at opportunities, scouting locations and feeling after God.

I promised to work in some rest and a nice meal and Kelly Jo was on board completely. Odie stayed with some of her Mississippi family in Richton and she was as content as could be. When my cousin passed away Sunday I thought we would be in reach of attending his visitation or funeral if it fell on the right days. One of his sons could not get to Ohio until the end of the week and we had to be back in Mississippi by that time unfortunately.

We left as early as we could Monday morning and arrived in Nashville about 3:00 PM. Monday evening was pretty much a wash out since after all the rush of the weekend I really did not feel very well. 

We got a bite to eat and drove around downtown looking at the places where people congregate in the evening. There were lots and lots of people downtown and the several blocks surrounding but we saw no open places for a tent. There is an amphitheater on the river and other performance venues but I could find no level open lots that night.

Tuesday morning I was feeling better so we spent a few hours driving around and exploring locations. We then walked around the neighborhood feeling after God and spending a little time waiting for a particular restaurant to open.

Pastor James McCoy and his family in Colorado took us to Rodizio Grill in Denver back in July and we fell in love.

Rodizio is one brand of Brazilian steak house and it is excellent. You pay one price and they keep bringing a variety of meats to your table as long as you like. In Nashville Tuesday they had 5-7 different kinds of steak, chicken fixed 3-4 different ways, 3-4 different types of pork, awesome fish and several wild game sausages. It was great! 

I am serious. It was really, really good! Kelly Jo found a coupon online so we ate really good at a really good price too!

After Rodizio we went to the regular Tuesday night service at the bridge conducted by Bridge Ministries. They fed several hundred folks and then had service. It was a good experience.

Wednesday we spent the day driving and walking around town and we came up with a few possible locations for tent revival and several other things that we need to seek God's direction about. Please help us pray about City Reach Nashville.

Thursday we drove south and Friday morning we were hooking up to the trailer in Richton and making our way to Millry. By the time we were parked, hooked up and finished laying out the stake line for the tent, it was time for bed. In the picture below you can see the tent trailer is still in the parking lot but Bro. Hunter from Midway moved it into position for me Saturday morning.

Saturday we put up the tent. I will try to post pictures from that later in the week.

Sunday morning we began tent revival and God helped from the very first service. Sunday night was great as well and we are anticipating five more great services. It is wonderful to work with Pastor Lamar Chapman and Midway Assembly again and it was also wonderful to have two other Pastors bring their folks Sunday night. I love that!

Our view changed pretty often this week and we have a few pictures to prove it! We spent Sunday afternoon in the parking lot at Forts Lake Assembly in Moss Point, Mississippi.

The BoggsMobile was parked at Richton First Assembly from late Sunday night until Friday morning. For some unknown reason I failed to get a picture out the window at Richton but here is our view from the front window when we were parked virtually in the same place back in August.

Kelly Jo and I were gone three days this week exploring some options for City Reach. I will tell you more about that later in the week but here was our view from the front window and door.

We are beginning revival under the Blue and White Gospel Tent this morning in Millry. We will have service at 10:30 and 6:00 and then 7:00 Monday through Friday. Come see us if you can.

Heaven Is Sweeter

Hello friends! 

This is Odie checking in from Alabama. I hope you all had a good week. 

Today we are supposed to set the tent up in Millry, Alabama. We are looking forward to a wonderful week of tent revival with Pastor Lamar Chapman and area churches.

Our blogging may be sparse this week. As Dad mentioned we have NO phone service and limited WiFi. We will do the best we can.

This week has been a sad time for several dear families. Dad mentioned Monday we lost a cousin Sunday afternoon. I would appreciate it if you keep the family of Craig Coffman in your prayers. His funeral was Friday in Ohio.

Sunday Morning Sis. Cindi Eiland reached Heaven. Our hearts ache for Bro. James and the family and friends left behind. Sis. Cindi Eiland's funeral was Wednesday in Prattville, Alabama.

Wednesday evening Sis. Lana Holden was called home. I can not imagine the pain Bro. Tracy, their children, their families and the church are facing right now. Sis. Lana's funeral will be Monday in Fouke, Arkansas.

Sis. Cindi and Sis. Lana both fought long battles with cancer. I know they are in Heaven rejoicing in the ultimate healing.

Both of these ladies were precious. I am honored to have known them! I am once again thanking God for bringing great people in our lives.

Their leaving this life leaves gaping holes in countless lives. Time will never heal all the hurt these families are experiencing. Thank God for the hope we have the we will see them again in Heaven! Please pray for the Eiland and Holden families.

Millry, Alabama on Friday

We are still alive and kicking but kicking without any AT&T phone service in Millry, Alabama. We send all of our pictures to the blog with our phones so that puts a squeeze on posting. We do have some WiFi but our WiFi usage is limited due to both speed of Verizon in this area and our data limits. We will do the best we can.

The tent is going up tomorrow morning and we are very excited about that!

Last Tent Revival of the Season

Sunday we will begin our final tent revival of the year. We will be going back for the third year in Millry, Alabama. This is a picture that Sis. Tonya Chapman took last year.

We have had two great tent revivals in Millry. The first was in April 2013 and the second was in September 2014. Pastor Lamar Chapman and the Midway Assembly are bringing us in for revival and last year we had great cooperation from the local churches. At least six churches dismissed their services and joined us on Wednesday night. That was awesome! We are looking forward to another great tent revival next week.

We plan to move the BoggsMobile and the tent trailer into place Friday morning. Friday afternoon I will get everything in place and lay out the stake line. We should be ready for set up Saturday morning. 

We plan to begin revival on Sunday night the 11th and go through Friday night the 16th. We would love to have you join us if you can.

Weekend Woundup and Weview October 6

Prayer Request

I have a first cousin in Waynesville, Ohio that died suddenly and unexpectedly Sunday afternoon and I would love for you to pray for his family. His name is Craig Coffman and he was 53 years old if I am not mistaken. Craig has three(?) sons, three brothers, two sisters and a mother still living. They are shocked and heart broken. Craig's mother, Aunt Alice, is my mother's sister. Would you pray for them with us?

Weekend

It was a wonderful whirlwind weekend just wike we wove it!

Friday morning I posted pictures from the revival at Tanner Williams but we have a few more from Friday night.

We had another great service Friday night with several visitors included. The altar service Thursday night was hard to beat but I believe Friday night might have been even better. God spoke to our hearts and helped some folks. Praise God for his help.

Saturday I stayed at the bus while Kelly Jo and Odie kicked around Mobile running to and fro amongst their favorite stores. Of course they had to stop for a bite or two to eat.

I kept busy preparing for the Sunday services and working on some future plans. In the evening we met Pastor Williamson and Sis. Gayla along with their daughter and son-in-law, Kevin and Rachel Collins, that were visiting from Oklahoma. We went to the local catfish joint and it was very, very good.

The blackened grilled catfish was definitely a keeper!

Even though the food was fantastic the fellowship with our dear friends was even better. I love these folks so much and it was a joy to spend the evening with them. Bro. Donnie is one of the very best men I know and I am thankful to call him friend.

Sunday was Homecoming at Tanner Williams Holiness Church. Homecoming at Tanner Williams always includes the big service in the morning, a fantastic dinner about noon and then singing in the afternoon. I posted pictures of all the excitement yesterday. 

It was a great, great day. Sunday night Kelly Jo and I received an email from one of the people in attendance Sunday morning. I am not at liberty yet to share publicly what they told me but God moved in a mighty wonderful way in some lives and THAT is exactly what we were praying and hoping for!

We visited Sunday afternoon until we ran just about everyone off and then we cranked the BoggsMobile for the short drive through the woods to Forts Lake Assembly just across the state line into Mississippi.

We were supposed to be at Forts Lake this coming January for revival but Pastor Tim Cauley called recently to tell me they are going to be in a big remodeling project at the first of the year. They needed to cancel revival and he asked if I had a weekend to spend with them. I told him about my Sunday night available after Tanner Williams and that is exactly where we went.

I am an evangelist and I love preaching revivals. I do not love preaching places for one night quite as much as I love revivals. I usually do not feel like I am in the right grove when I pop in for one night. Sunday night at Forts Lake was different. I felt like God directed me to the right scripture with the right words to say and I knew He was going to speak to the right hearts.

That is exactly what God did and it was tremendous. God helped folks at Forts Lake Assembly Sunday night and we praise God for it. We sure appreciate His help and we are also very thankful for the warm welcome, good treatment and fine meal. May God bless Pastor Tim Cauley and his folks.

Bro. and Sis. Cauley dropped us back at the BoggsMobile and we cranked it again for the 88 mile drive to Richton, Mississippi. You may remember that we left the tent trailer there after City Reach Richton. We will need the trailer and its contents in Millry so that necessitated a return trip to Richton.

That's no problem because we love our friends in Richton!

There is a Mississippi state rest area one exit west of Forts Lake Church on I-10 and it has a dump station for RVs. We have stopped there many times and we made a quick stop there late Sunday night to take care of business. I spared you and did not take any pictures of that process.

We pulled into Richton about 1:30 AM and fell into bed about 3:00. It was a long but very fulfilling day. It is good to be well loved by the people of God and it a blessing to use our strength in His work. There may come a day when no one calls for us so we are happy to go while we can.

We had an early morning planned on Monday and I will tell you more about that later. I hope your week is off to a good start. Thank you so much for reading.
