The Tent is Up in Bristol, Virginia

Post from Saturday Morning.

We had a hard working crew of men to help set up the tent today. It rained off and on most of the morning but they kept right on working. Everything went very smoothly and I am thankful for that. Each time we set up and tear down the tent without any major obstacles or anybody getting hurt, I thank God for it.

Pastor David Horton wanted us to pray under the tent after it was set up. He wanted us to believe God to work in lives this week in the revival. As we all prayed the Holy Ghost fell on us in a special way. I believe God was confirming His word and His work this week. I know that God is going to move in hearts and lives under the blue and white Gospel tent once again the next several nights.

I know that some of you pray especially for these tent revivals. Thank you for taking that task to heart and interceding to God for us and for the men and women that will hear the Gospel message. God hears those prayers and is working even right now in the hearts of folks in this community. Isn't that amazing? Praise God for the Long Arm of God's Grace! Thank you for being a part of it.

We plan to have service tomorrow morning inside the church and then begin the tent revival tomorrow evening. The weather guessers are predicting cool temperatures the next few days but I am hoping and praying for warmer weather. They guessed right for the rain this morning but they can not be right all of the time. Pray with us please.

I hope you enjoy the pictures of the set up today.

One of the brothers in the church had been given some rolls of nylon string woven together like carpet. It was used in some kind of manufacturing process and was discarded. He said he had no idea what he was going to do with it but he does now. It worked absolutely perfect to roll out on the gravel to protect the tent.

And the ladies will be very grateful not to ruin their shoes on the gravel during church!

One of the brothers said, "Wait! I forgot to hold my stomach in." I said, "I've been holding mine in for years."

Burrito California from Acapulco in Lebanon, Ohio

It is time for the final tally of Burrito California's from Acapulco while we were home. I think I took a picture of every one that I ate. I will let you do the math. I know this much, every one of them was delicious and the salsa was good enough to drink every day.

I started ordering the Burrito California with mushrooms and cilantro this time and that makes it even better. Sometimes they put the cilantro inside and other times they put it on the outside or both. That accounts for the difference in the pictures.

The employees of Acapulco sure took care of me while I was home this time. They brought me plenty of water, lots of salsa and huge burrito's. Of course, I try to do my part by bringing in the crowd and spreading the word. I think it is an even trade!

The tent is going up in Bristol, Virginia today, by God's grace. Please pray for us.

A Prayer Request

Some friends of ours are experiencing a terrible tragedy. Bro. Tim Fouts and his wife lost their son in a drowning accident yesterday. Nathan was on a short term mission trip to Nicaragua and was believed to be pulled out from shore and under by a riptide. They were able  to bring him back to shore but it was too late.

Nathan was in his early 20's and his parents, friends and church are obviously devastated. Would you please pray for Bro. and Sis. Fouts, their family and the church they pastor near Salem, Kentucky. They need God to help them in a miraculous way.

There is no way to offer the right words or sentiment. I can not explain why the world is filled with hurt, pain, confusion and death. I know that it is all tied back to sin and Adam's choice of sin in the garden. Sin and the effects of sin have had 6000 years to destroy the paradise the God created for man to live in.

I understand all of that in an abstract sense, but when tragedy strikes close to home none of that brings comfort at all. It will take the Lord to comfort this family. Please pray that He will surround them with the peace they need.

We pulled into Grace Pentecostal Holiness Church in Bristol, Virginia today. It was very difficult to get into the neighborhood and even more difficult to get the BoggsMobile and the trailer into the church but we made it. We prayed and asked God for guidance and help and I believe He gave it. I will probably have to have some one pull the trailer out when we leave but we will cross that bridge next week.

I am planning to put the tent up in the gravel area in the foreground of this picture. The trailer will be swung around and parked next to the church behind the BoggsMobile.

We are working on preparations today and all the help should be here at 8:00 tomorrow morning to set up the tent. The weather guesser is calling for rain tomorrow and cool temperatures until Tuesday. Let's hope and pray that he is wrong again. It is beautiful and warm today.

My Dad continues to improve. He had his follow up appointment with the surgeon yesterday and all reports were good. I am so glad he is recovering well to this point. Thank you so much for praying for him and my Mother.

God bless,

Davy

Travel Day and Other News

Today (Thursday) was a fairly long travel day. We left Dodds church at 9:00 AM and arrived at WalMart in Bristol, Virginia a little after 5:30 PM. We drove a little over 400 miles so that is our longest day in quite a while.

It is always neat to see people we know along the road while we are traveling. Just as we crossed the Ohio river going into Kentucky somebody passed us while blowing their horn and waving. I thought at first that they were telling me something was wrong but it was obviously a friendly wave. I do not know who it was but Kelly Jo thinks they were driving an Infinity. If you read this, leave a comment.

A couple of hours later another guy drove by honking the horn and waving. This one called me and it was Bro. Timmy Carpenter. He works around Richmond and he was on his way home to London. He talked me into stopping for lunch (It was not very hard to talk me into lunch) and we met him and his Dad, Lester Carpenter at White Castle. I happened to know ahead of time that White Castle has bus parking. Lol

It was great to see Bro. Tim and Bro. Lester and to visit with them for a while. Both of these men have been our friends since Kelly Jo and I were teenagers. That is a long time on anybody's calendar! Thanks Bro. Tim for the lunch.

We are excited about having tent revival for Bro. Lester next year. It will be our first tent revival in that part of Kentucky. We have lots of friends all around London so I hope we will have lots of participation.

When we pulled into Bristol I parked at the WalMart so I could drive the Green Machine to look at the route into the church. The church is up on a hill and it will be a little tricky getting the BoggsMobile and tent trailer in without scraping. I scoped it it out and I am pretty sure I can do it.

By the time that was finished, it was getting late in the evening. I decided to get a good night sleep and pull into the church with plenty of daylight and while I am fresh. I will measure for the stake line tomorrow and we will put up the tent on Saturday morning by God's grace.

Pastor David Horton has been experiencing revival the last several months with several folks saved. I am expecting this tent revival to be a continuation of that. Pray that God will have His way among lost people in this community. I can not wait to see what He is going to do.

We were blessed to attend revival at our home church Monday and Tuesday night. They are in revival this week with Pastor Douglas Meadow. Both services we attended were great. It was good to be home.

We had Bro. Shobanke with us Monday night and that was good as well. Our folks enjoyed having him in service and he definitely enjoyed being there. Tuesday morning my parents fixed a big country breakfast for him and then I drove him to West Harrison, Indiana.

I deposited Bro. Shobanke in the care of Bro. Hobert Bowling and Pastor Wade Hicks. It sure was great to have him for a few days but I know those men will take good care of him.

Here are a few pictures from Dryden Rd.

Prayer for Annette Cook

My cousin, Annette Cook, needs a miracle. Annette has been fighting cancer for a long time and the latest reports from her doctors are not encouraging at all. Please take some time to lift up Annette, her husband Heath and all of her family before God. We know that God is able to rid her body of every cancer cell.

Annette insisted on coming to the hospital the day that my Dad had surgery last week. (The picture above was taken that day.) She made Dad a cake and she and her husband brought it to him. She is constantly concerned about the welfare and comfort of others. But Annette is in desperate need of a miracle herself.

Would you pray for Annette this week? God bless you for it.
