Tent Revival In Pictures - Bristol, Virginia

I posted Odie's Newsletter yesterday.

We are having a great tent revival with Pastor David Horton and Grace Pentecostal Tabernacle in Bristol, Virginia. God is helping folks in the altar service each and every night. The first two nights were cool but the weather has been near perfect since then. We have a little rain in the forecast the next few days but we expect it to be fine.

Tomorrow (Saturday) we are meeting at a nearby park in the afternoon. The plan is to eat and fellowship and then have a little service there under a pavilion. Of course, we are looking forward to a great service tonight under the Blue and White Gospel Tent.

As I normally do in these posts, I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story.

These three pictures were taken from the edge of tent look over the hill toward the south.

The church is on Battle Hill Rd. and John S. Battle High School is above it. This picture is from the road in front of the school. By the time Bro. Horton and his folks are finished with this place it will be known as Pentecostal Hill!

Odie’s View
From The Back.

Hey Friends!!  We have been asking you to pray since November for my Papaw Eugene Boggs because he had cancer.  They were finally able to do the surgery on, April 30th.  The doctor feels he was able to get all the cancer with surgery.  We are praising God for brining Papaw through safely.  Now he is in for a long recovery.  He does not like to sit still.  We have to keep a close eye on him.  Thank you so much for your prayers for our family.
Now for the road news.  The last letter was sent out right before campmeeting at Allentown.  It was a wonderful meeting.  We received much needed spiritual strength for our souls.  It is always a blessing to fellowship with many friends.  Pastor Eugene Futral and all the churches involved do a wonderful job with the meeting.
This year the weekend before Allentown we were with the Apostle Donald C. Williamson.  It is a honor to call the fine congregation of Tanner Williams Holiness Church our friends!!  We love them so much!
It was a privilege to be with Pastor Tim Cauley at Forts Lakes Assembly in Moss Point, Mississippi.  It was a great week of revival. The church received help and souls were saved.  Sis. Ruthie “Angel” Cauley is one of our favorite cooks.  Y’all know Dad had a good time eating that week.
Thanks to Pastor Michael Groves for inviting us to Gospel Lighthouse in Mobile, Alabama.  We had a great Sunday with you all.
Then it was time for four days of R&R.  It was good to rest up before starting Tent Revivals for 2013.
The Blue and White Gospel Tent was set up the first time  this year in Citronelle, Alabama.  It was a pleasure to work again with Pastor Gaylon Cunningham and the Whatley Holy Church of God and Pastor Darius Templeton and the Cedar Creek Holy Church of God.  They have a great desire to win their community to God.  Thank you for working so hard on tent revival!
We then took the tent to Millry, Alabama.  Pastor Lamar Chapman and the church at Midway Assembly did a wonderful job of hosting the revival in Millry.  The community was very supportive of the revival.
We were hindered some by the rain and storms but God really blessed in the services. Please help us pray for clear weather the rest of the season.  We have had to deal with cold and rain both revivals.
Pioneer church works are very close to our hearts.  Bro. Larry West has pioneered Refuge Holiness Tabernacle.   They are currently in Coaling, Alabama.  Their burden is to reach the Tuscaloosa area for Christ.  We enjoyed getting to be with them for five services. We had a great time.
I have exciting news. Our new CD, “He Came -The Gospel of Christmas” is now available for pre-orders.  We hope to have them back in August. Call or email for more information.
It has been several years since we have recorded a studio project.  It was exciting to be back in the studio in April.  We had the privilege to work again with the amazing and talented Ben Isaacs. Our musicians this time around were Mom on piano, Ben Isaacs on bass, and Greg Ritchie on drums.  We are very excited about this project and hope you love it!
Pastor E. Ade Shobanke is currently visiting the states from Nigeria.  It was great to have him visit us again in Ohio. We enjoyed having him so much.
It was a pleasure to be at our home church, Dryden Road Pentecostal Church, for a few services.  It is always good to be home with our pastor Bro.  Bennie Sutherland.
Thanks to Pastors Acy Lamb, Rex Lloyd and Danny Morgan for having us in your churches.  We love you all!
We are now in Bristol, Virginia in tent revival with Pastor David Horton and the Grace Pentecostal Holiness Church. This is also a pioneer work and we are having a wonderful time. God is blessing.
Well, I hear the engine starting so I better go ‘cause we’re On the Road Again.

You can see our full schedule HERE.

As Odie was telling you, tent revivals are well under way this year. God has been blessing and helping in each and every service. We are rejoicing as God reaches for the lost and hurting in these revivals. It is amazing to watch Him work. We have several more tent revivals scheduled for this year including three that I would call mission revivals. One for a church in Washington, Illinois that is trying to get off the ground on June 30th, one with the Martin Family, Hope for the Home Ministries and a local church in Dunseith, North Dakota among the Turtle Mountain Chippewa tribe on July 28th and the third is in the state of Chiapas, Mexico with Bro. Larry Landress and Holiness In Mexico in December.
We are asking God to move in every revival but we really need God’s help in these three especially. The spiritual pressure, the physical load, the logistics and the financial burden are more than we are able to bear ourselves. But we have found that where God opens the doors, he also provides the necessary strength to walk through those doors. I know that we will report victory when all is said and done. Thank you so much for praying for us.
We also have tent revivals in Indiana, Oklahoma, Missouri and Mississippi to finish off the year. Pray with us that God will save, bless, heal and deliver in all of these meetings. God bless you all.

As Odie mentioned in the newsletter we have just recorded a new CD. We are calling it

He Came
The Gospel of Christmas

Our family loves the Christmas season. We love the traditions of Christmas. We love the meals, the family time, giving special gifts, the meals, the decorations, the special church services and we especially love the great meals. No, seriously we especially love all of the traditional Christmas music. We probably have more Christmas CDs than is legal in most states.

We love the traditional carols and we love the light hearted songs of Christmas too. What resonates with us the most in the message of Christmas. It is the fact that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, became one of us in order to save us. God became flesh and dwelt among us! Oh, praise God!

We want to proclaim that life giving message on this new CD. We want the world to know that He Came that they might be saved. We have recorded a few traditional Christmas songs and some new Christmas songs but a couple of the songs we recorded have not been associated with Christmas at all. But they all tell The Gospel of Christmas. The good news of Christmas, that Jesus Christ came to seek and to save that which is lost.

We are blessed again to have Ben Isaacs working with us on this new CD. Ben is gracious, humble and super duper talented. We are so glad to have to have Ben producing this project.

We hope to have the new CD in our hands by August 1. If you pre-order it by July 1 the shipping is free. If you pre-order 10 or more shipped to one address, we will discount them $3 each and still ship them for free. They must be shipped to the same address to take advantage of that.

If you would like an order form you can email me for a copy. davykellyandodie@gmail.com

A Reminder to Pray for Bro. Marty Millikin and Family

Bro. Marty Millikin is in Oklahoma City this week for his second round of high powered treatment to combat the cancer in his body. While there he has treatments every day for five consecutive days. The first round was very, very rough on him and this round has started out rough as well.

Please pray for Bro. Marty. We know that God is able to help Marty and we are asking Him to do it. I know that there are literally hundreds of people praying for Marty. As this long process goes along let's not  be weary in well doing. Bro. Marty, Bro. Jimmy and his family and their parents depend on the people of God to hold them up in prayer.

Every day as I walk under the tent and pray I am reminded all over again to pray for this precious family. The whole Millikin family loves tent revival ministry and they have been very instrumental in our tent revivals. When God begin to deal with me in 2009 about devoting a whole summer to tent revivals, Bro. Jimmy was one of the first people I talked to about it. I felt like his family should be involved when they could. He has been there every step of the way blessing us in so many ways.

They have been a great help and encouragement in these meetings and in our lives. I would love to be a help and encouragement to them in their time of need. Please pray for them. Please hold them up before God. They have done the same for many of us and I know they will do it again.

God bless you all.

Speedy Freeze

I noticed signs like this at a few Speedway gas stations/convenient stores while we were home last week. I just had to snap a picture of this one as I was waiting at the light.

Which being interpreted is:

Price of Unleaded Gasoline - Ridiculous

Price of Diesel - Crazy Ridiculous

Price of a Speedy Freeze - Only .89 cents! At least we have one thing you can afford!

It is like they are conceding the fact that our gas and diesel prices will not attract you to our store but LOOK we have Speedy Freeze for less than a dollar. Well, it got my attention!

No spiritual application to go along with it. Sorry, I must have sludge in the brain.

We did have a great service last night in tent revival. Have I mentioned that these folks are hungry for God? They are seeking after God in the altars and God is blessing and helping them each night. Bro. Horton and Bro. Switzer are doing a great job running the services and I am just floundering around doing what I do most of the time. Praise God for His help.

It was quite a bit cooler outside last night but it was pretty nice inside the tent. I rolled the sides down in the afternoon and Bro. Switzer brought a couple of heaters. It was very comfortable with the heat going. In fact it was a little hot for me while I was preaching. Of course, I am going to sweat while preaching no matter how cool it is.

It is 70 right now so we should be able to keep most of the sides rolled up for service tonight. Thank you for praying for us in this meeting. God is answering your prayers.

First Night of Tent Revival in Bristol, Virginia

Yesterday was a great day in Bristol, Virginia. We had a very good service Sunday morning capped off with a wonderful time in the altar and then they recognized all of the Mothers that were present. This was the first Mother's Day in this pioneer work and we were honored to be here as a part of it. I did not preach a Mother's Day sermon since I was focusing on tent revival but it was a beautiful day.

Kelly Jo and I usually set up quite a bit early on the first night of tent revival just in case we have any sound or equipment issues. I hate to be dealing with a problem 10 minutes before service time. Everything set up quickly and without any problems and here it is ready to go.

It was a little on the cool side but the service was great. God moved in the song service, the preaching and especially in the altar service and prayer line. The wing was coming out of the west but we did not put the walls down because we were getting some sun from that direction too. The sun felt so good.

After the sun went behind the hills I rolled down one wall to block some of the wind. Odie acts like she is cold! She is holding her microphone through her jacket pocket.

It was a great first service. Pastor David Horton and his congregation have a hunger to see lives changed and God was doing that last night. It is a blessing to preach in such an environment. It is also a blessing to have Bro. Michael and Sis. Tonya Switzer in the revival too. They are working right along side Bro. and Sis. Horton in this church. It is an awesome team.

I am sure we will have more good news later in the week. God bless you all.

Happy Mother's Day!

Post from Saturday Morning.

Post from Friday afternoon.

Post from tent set up in Bristol, Virginia.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers. May God bless you today with strength and health on the day set aside to honor you. If you are a mother that fears God and serves Him, then you are worthy of double honor. May God bless you abundantly in every area of your life.

Many ladies in our great country have stepped up to mother me through the years. They have fed me, clothed me and nurtured me spiritually too. They have prayed for me and carried many burdens for me. I am grateful to every one of them. But none of them could ever take the place of my dear mother, Martha Boggs.

I believe very strongly that one of the reasons I am saved and preaching today is because God heard the prayers of my mother. I doubt that she prayed that God would put me into the ministry and send me across the USA and even to other countries to preach and to sing. If she prayed for that, I did not hear it and she never told me. But she did pray that I would be a Christian. She wanted me to be genuinely saved and dedicated to God.

She prayed faithfully beside of my bed every night as I was growing up. I can not tell you the nights I went to sleep listening to her praying for me and for my brothers and for my sister. I did not think much of it then. But I realize the eternal value of it now. It was a tremendously blessing to have a mother willing to kneel and pray  fervently to God for me.

Praise God for a praying mother!

Thank you Mother Dear for praying for your children. Thank you especially for praying for me. God has heard your prayers and answered them far beyond your imagination and certainly beyond my imagination. Praise God that He is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think. I love you Mother Dear. Have a very Happy Mother's Day.

Another important mother in my life is Betty Morgan, the mother of my Kelly Jo. Betty was saved along with my father in law in a tent revival about 40 years ago. That event changed the course of life of their oldest child and for me as well. I praise God for my mother in law too. Have a great day, Gran!

God bless you mothers.
