The Weekend Dispatch 1/2/23

Kelly Jo and I hit the ground running Friday morning trying to get ready to finish revival and hit the road. We had several last minute things to do and the last minute was fast approaching.

I began the morning by driving to Centerville to visit the DMV. The license tag stickers for the BoggsMobile, Green Machine and Jeep expire in January and I took care of that there.

Thursday I had completed preparation for the Saturday funeral sermon for my Aunt Zora and Friday morning I finished editing that. Then I spent several hours preparing, typing and proofing the sermon for Saturday night of revival.

The three of us spent some time Friday afternoon practicing a song for the funeral, tossed in an oil change on the bus generator and then we got ready for church.

We had a great service Friday night and enjoyed fellowship with several families in the home of Bro. Jeff and Sis. Debbie Roberts. It was a great night.

We had the funeral of my Aunt Zora Boggs Dyas at 11:00 Saturday morning. Before that, we cranked the bus, pulled outside to empty the holding tanks and then turned it around. I wanted it to be in place to leave for Kentucky Sunday.

The Lord helped us all during the funeral. We took no pictures, of course. Odie snapped two at the cemetery.

The last night of revival at Dryden Rd was tremendous. We had communion during the New Year's Eve service.

Sunday morning we rolled out of bed as early as we could and got ready to go.

1/1/2023 Time for a new page in the log book.

Ma and Pa came to see us off Sunday morning.

Less than 3.5 hours later we were in the parking lot of First Pentecostal in London, Kentucky. We unloaded the sound equipment, parked the bus, set up the equipment, got sound check and then took a nap. It was nice to have some sunshine. Yay!

We enjoyed the first night of revival for Bro. Jarvis and his folks.

That wraps up our weekend. It is time for a long winter's nap. Thank you for joining us.

Goodbye 2022

Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking for one last time this year. Thanks for tuning in on the final day of 2022. Can you believe it? We have almost made it through another year?

Today I want to share some thoughts that have been rolling through my brain this week.

God has been faithful once again! He has carried us through every single day of the year. He has been right there for every single bump in the road. Some of my best laid plans did not go according to my plan. Looking back, I can see God's hand at work!

I do not have a sad song to sing about 2022. This really has been an incredible year! I am thankful for God's mercy and grace that have helped me daily!

When the clock strikes midnight, 2023 begins. I am ready for a fresh start to a new year. I am ready to live each day and see what God has planned for the days ahead.

We all have hopes, dreams and plans for our futures. It is impossible to see the big picture today. No one knows exactly where we will be 365 days from today. There is one thing I know about our futures! God will still be faithful!

My goal for the new year is to lean wholly on God! Here is a passage of scripture that has been on my mind. It is a great scripture to wrap up this year and say hello to 2023.

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24
23. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24  Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

See you next year.
Odie
