Weekend Woundup and Weview 2/19/2018

Before I launch into a description of our weekend, I want to ask you again to Pray for Bro. Bill Houston. He is is desperate need of a miracle in his body. Please pray Bro. Bill and his wife, Sis. Darien.

We finished revival Friday night in Sweeny, Texas with another great altar service. I sure appreciate the way the folks at Full Gospel Lighthouse responded to the preaching all week long. That really makes the difference in revival.

Here are a few pictures from Friday.

We visited with our friends quite a while Friday night after tearing down the sound system and packing it away. They were asking us to stay and it was a little sad to leave them.  But I always go by the adage that Bro. Bill Houston taught me years ago. "It is better to leave with them wishing you to stay, than to stay with them wishing you would leave!"

Saturday I visited a while with Pastor Lamb and then it was time to hook up the car, crank the BoggsMobile, unhook the electric and hit the road. I did those things in that order and soon we were ready to go.

I usually leave Sweeny at night because we are usually crossing Houston when we leave. Night time is definitely the best time to drive through or even around Houston. Our last time through at night the traffic was light but because of a road closure, we had to pay $42 dollars for the privilege to driving 37 miles on the toll road. Ouch!

I hoped Saturday traffic would not be too bad, but I knew better. I am sure it was better than daytime Monday through Friday but it was a nerve wracking mess. I suppose I was exercising my right to be lazy by not leaving Friday night.

Once we made it to the north side of Houston I needed a few minutes to calm my nerves. We just "happened" to know of a Sam's parking lot right next door to a newly remodeled Golden Corral in Humble, Texas. Score!

About an hour and 15 minutes after leaving Sam's, we were pulling into Beech Creek Assembly near Livingston, Texas. This is our third revival for Pastor Don Goodwin here so we know where to park and we were ready to unload sound equipment in a few minutes.

We might would have taken a nap for a few minutes before loading in, but the weather guessers were guessing rain. We would rather not get us OR the sound equipment soaked unless absolutely necessary so we loaded in.

Kelly Jo and I loaded in, set up and then did sound check and sang. We were there for about three hours and a great afternoon turned into a great evening.

I think we all rested well Saturday night and woke up ready to enjoy a wonderful Sunday in revival with God's people. It was a great day!

We had two great services, two great meals with friends and wonderful fellowship all along the way. We will only be here through Wednesday so we will try to pack in as much revival as we can! It should be fun.

Thank you for reading today. God bless you all.

Surviving Life’s Low Clearances

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from the BoggsMobile. We finished in Sweeny, Texas last night. You can see pictures from Full Gospel Lighthouse in Sweeny HERE.

Today we are scheduled to change locations but we will still be in Texas for a little while longer. I am excited to see my friends at Beech Creek Assembly this coming week. We always have a fabulous time in Livingston with Pastor Don Goodwin. Revival is scheduled for Sunday-Wednesday. Then we plan to be Mississippi bound.

This post is not sponsored by Hobby Lobby  I do love shopping at the store! They are a Christian company that I gladly support.

Did you know you can be encouraged by a trip to Hobby Lobby? Well, it worked for me. That must be why shopping is called retail therapy.

I took this picture below of the sign at Hobby Lobby last week.

I sent the picture, as a joke, to a close family friend. He used to have a habit of forgetting his bike on the bike rack on top of his car and there was a low drive under porch leaving his house. Did you ask what happened? He crunched his bike and it happened more than once. I like to tease him so we had some laughs because of this sign!

The more I thought about the sign this week it has reminded me of what happens in life. Things are moving along smoothly and out of nowhere a low overhead clearance appears and crunches things. I am left thinking what in the world just happened? If only I could have had a WARNING ⚠️ sign.

It seems to me everywhere I look, those around me are being caught by the surprise of life’s low clearances. I am praying they can get a break and some smooth roads with clear skies for a change.

Also while in Hobby Lobby, I heard the music of the hymn, “He Hideth My Soul”. Before I realized it, I was singing along. This is what I found myself singing at the store.

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
that shadows a dry thirsty land;
He hideth my life in the depths of His love
and covers me there with His hand,
and covers me there with His hand.”

It was the reminder I need for that day. When a low clearance of life takes me by surprise, I can survive by running to the rock. My God will be there to cover me and help me with the damage.

I could only remember the chorus so I looked the words up online. This is an amazing song penned by Fanny Crosby. Wow, what a testimony to the greatness of God.

Fanny Crosby was blind from shortly after birth. Yet she knew where her strength and help was found. She survived the overwhelming obstacle of blindness by hiding in the cleft of the rock. She penned many incredible lyrics that still bring hope to troubled lives.

I will leave you with the full words to “He Hideth My Soul.”  I found them here on this website. Thank for visiting with us today. I hope you find encouragement this weekend.

Verse 1
A wonderful Savior is Jesus My Lord,
A wonderful Savior to me;
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,
Where rivers a pleasure I see,

Chorus
He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock
That shadows a dry, thirsty land;
He hideth  my life in the depths of His love,
And covers me there with His hand,
And covers me there with His hand.

Verse 2
A wonderful Savior Jesus my Lord,
He taketh my burden away;
He holdeth  me up and I shall not be moved,
He giveth me strength as my day.

Verse 3
The numberless blessings each moment He crowns,
And, filled with His fullness is divine,
I sing in my rapture, oh glory to God,
For such a Redeemer as mine!

Verse 4
When clothes in His brightness, transported I rise
To meet Him in clouds in the sky,
His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,
I’ll shout with the millions on high.

Revival In Pictures - Sweeny, Texas

This week's Revival In Pictures post comes to you from Full Gospel Lighthouse in Sweeny, Texas. We have enjoyed our time with Pastor Larry Lamb and the church folks here. We have been coming here for a number of years and it seems the revivals get better each year. We praise God for His help this week.

We have one more service tonight before we move about 140 miles to Livingston, Texas for five services. We are looking forward to being at Beech Creek Assembly with Pastor Don Goodwin again.

I hope you enjoy the Revival In Pictures. Thank you for stopping in.

It Is All Relative

It is all relative. When we left El Mirage Wednesday December 20th mid morning it was approaching 70 degrees outside.

When we pulled into the barn on the Lazy OD Ranch Saturday December 23rd it was approaching about 20 degrees. We thought we would freeze to death!

There is 60 degrees difference between the picture above and this picture below.

The next 10 days we were home did not improve one ounce.

IMG_9716-701791.jpg (400×300)

It was cold, cold, cold. It snowed several days and it was cold some more times!

When we arrived home from New Year's Eve service the real outside temperature was minus 5 degrees, the power had been out 6 hours and it was 44 degrees inside the BoggsMobile. It was 41 inside by the time the power came back on at 4:00AM. Ouch!

We were miserable cold the whole time we were home. We were way more than ready to head toward Louisiana shortly after the first of the year.

We drove the first day to a truck parking area near Jackson, Tennessee.

It was a cold night but we were cozy warm in the BoggsMobile. In the morning I went outside and walked around the bus to check things out and to see if we could wiggle our way through the trucks and leave.

I was amazed how warm it felt. It was cold but it felt way, way better than home. I checked the temperature and it was a whopping 25 degrees! I would have declared up and down that it was 45 instead of 25!

It is all relative. It is what you get used to. Going from a solid 70's to lower 20's, teens, single digits and below zero was a jolt to our system. We were used to much warmer.

Even though we felt like we were not acclimating to the super cold temperatures in Ohio, we really were. The fact that 25 degrees in Jackson felt really good proved it to me. It is all relative.

We had some cool days in Louisiana the next week. We had some downright cold days and nights in Moss Point, Mississippi the week after that. But both weeks were considerably warmer than what we had at home Christmas week.

The next few weeks have been pretty moderate. It was not as warm as some folks would like, but it has been great to us.

Then we dipped down to 40 and then 34 one night this week and we thought we would freeze to death all over again. How can that be? 25 felt good a few weeks ago and 35-40 feels like Siberia now.

It is all in what you are used to feeling. It is all relative!

That reminds me of one of my favorite fat jokes. When some one that has not seen me in a while when I have lost some weight, they sometimes say, "You are looking skinny" or "Hello, skinny!"

I always say, "Skinny is a relative term and ain't none of my relatives skinny!"

It is all relative!😍 🤣

Thank you for dropping in today.
