A Day At Disciples Gospel Mission, Abeokuta, Nigeria

Today we have some great pictures from a church we had never visited before. We had been invited to preach at Disciples Gospel Mission in Abeokuta not all that far from Bro. Shobanke's church.

Several years ago I met Pastor Rufus at a Minister's Conference at Christ Ambasssadors Holiness Church. 

Pastor Rufus was the Convenor (MC) of the Minister's Conference at least a couple years. He a soft spoken man with a gentle spirit. This year we were privileged to preach in his church on our last Sunday here.

We had a wonderful visit at Disciples Gospel Mission on Sunday. They received us warmly and we enjoyed their great hospitality. We love going into new places and they made it super comfortable for us.

Pastor Oluwasola Adeola Adeboye was present to interpret for me on Sunday. He worked with me every sermon but two the whole time we have been in Nigeria. He really does a super great job and I enjoy working with him.

Sunday afternoon we spent some more time with Bro. Shobanke and some of his family. We dearly love these folks.

2023 Christmas Wreath Fun At The Purkey Landscaping Plant Barn

Hey  Friends,

This is Odie checking in from Ohio. I hope your holiday season is going well this year. I love this time of year. It is a busy season, but I am soaking it all up. I love all the music, decorations, shopping for gifts, time with family and friends and activities to celebrate the birth of Christ. 

I have already had a great time this year. My shopping is just about finished. I hope to have most of my wrapping done soon. My Christmas fun activities began the day after I arrived home.

Thanks to my family for inviting me to be part of their Christmas party. I enjoyed an evening of Christmas fun with some of the ladies of Dodds Pentecostal Church. I had fun working alongside my Aunt Theresa! She also gave me a ride to and from the party. Thank you, Theresa!

We spent a couple hours making Christmas wreaths. Purkey Landscaping in Waynesville, Ohio, hosted the fun night! This is the third year several of us have enjoyed a night of wreath making. 

Every year, it has been fun to create a different wreath. There are no two wreaths alike. 

All the projects turned out to be beautiful! Here is our group of ladies for the night. Each lady chose additional items to add to the greenery and plants available.

Kristy Purkey and her friend Tammy are fantastic hosts! They provide all the supplies to make our wreaths. Most of us were repeat partygoers from past years. We could use our grapevine wreath from previous times. A couple ladies in our group made beautiful porch pots this year.

Thanks to Kristy and Tammy for their guidance! They are super talented and helpful! Also they were cheering us on and making us feel like our wreath looked great!

Purkey Landscaping is a local business in my community. It is family-owned and operated by Perry and Kristy Purkey. The Purkey's offer many types of services for any landscaping needs.

 In 2023, they moved their business headquarters to a new location. They are easy to get to off State Route 73. If you are local, check out The Plant Barn for your plant needs. People say it is a great place to get seasonal plants from the Plant Barn! 

They offer different Potting Parties throughout the year. You can check their website or Facebook page for the party schedule. A gift card for the plant barn would be a great gift idea.

Since I arrived home the night before this party, my wreath was my first Christmas decoration out for 2023. It was on my door before the night was over.

Christ Ambassador's Holiness Church Branch at Mile 2

In 2009 we first visited Christ Ambassador's Holiness Church Branch at Mile 2 and preached in an outdoor crusade in front of the church building. The Pastor was Pastor Lawrence and he has since gone to Heaven. He was a very good man. 

Below are four pictures from that night in 2009.

This week we were privileged to return. What an honor to be able to return fourteen years later and minister again. This time we preached inside the new building that is currently under construction. It is pretty much sitting where we had the outdoor crusade in 2009.

The building is uncompleted but is well on the way. It is much bigger than the original building and I am so happy for them. We have helped them get to this point and we intend to help more if possible.

The Pastors are Pastor Gabriel Andrew Ekainu and Pastor Oluwasola Adeola Adeboye. They welcomed us very warmly and we appreciate that so much. Pastor Oluwasola has been interpreting for me most of the sermons I have preached this visit including that night.

As you can see in the picture below, they need a concrete floor, ceiling, stucco on the walls and paint.

They did not allow the unfinished building to get in their way. We had a wonderful move of God and we enjoyed the service very much.
