A Weekend of Rest in Richton

Out of ten weeks of revival on this tour so far we have ended four of them on Wednesday. Three of those four were the length requested by the Pastor and the fourth I scheduled that way. Closing on Wednesday gives us a chance to catch our breath, accept invitations to preach other places on Thursday and Friday OR to travel long distances. Two of the four short weeks this year have been spent traveling and preaching and the other two have been put to good use resting.

We only had to travel 130 miles and we did that Wednesday night so this has been a resting break. We have really enjoyed the last few days in Richton. It has been a pretty good mix of rest, fellowship with great friends, great food and preparation for future meetings and revivals. I am not that good at scheduling time for us to rest and recharge and when we are off I am pretty good at filling up our off time with "things" and "stuff" to do. I did a little better this week.

Kelly Jo and I did as much of nothing as we could Thursday evening and sprinkled in some good doses of nothing during the day Friday and Saturday. I did have some work to get the tent trailer ready to ride (It has spent the winter here at Richton) but nothing too strenuous. I plan to finish that up this morning

We had several meals and lots of fellowship with Bro. Scott and Sis. Kim and the girls. They have been so kind to us and they work hard at making us feel right at home. We sure appreciate their hospitality and friendship. I am hoping they come to Ohio later this year and give us a chance to make a small dent in our deep friendship debt to them. They are great folks and dear friends.

As Odie mentioned Saturday we went to the Wild Game Supper at Ellisville Friday night. There are pictures of that below. It was super!

The services yesterday at Richton were super great. God blessed and helped tremendously Sunday morning and Sunday night. These folks were pulling the preaching out of me Sunday morning and we really enjoyed singing Sunday night. We have really been in a bunch of good revivals and church services this year and we are very thankful for it. Praise God for His faithfulness.

We are looking forward to being back in Richton in this fall for tent revival. We are planning to have tent revival September 18-25, Friday through Friday. It is going to be awesome! We will have the new section of tent then, by God's grace and we are planning to set up the whole thing. It will be about 48 x 92.

We are planning to drive the BoggsMobile and the tent trailer to Allentown this morning and then go to Cedar Creek for Monday night Fellowship meeting tonight if all goes as planned.

I hope you enjoy our pictures from the weekend. We have a bunch of them for you.

View Out The Front Window March 8, 2013

We are singing and preaching for Pastor Scott Morris and his fine folks at Richton First Assembly this morning and then having a singing tonight. We are looking forward to two great services. Hopefully we will have pictures of the weekend in tomorrow's post.

Most of the posts this week will be pictures since we will be in campmeeting. We are planning to travel to Allentown Monday morning and then be in the Monday night fellowship meeting at Cedar Creek Monday night. Campmeeting at Allentown will begin Tuesday morning.

The view this week is a familiar one. The BoggsMobile has been parked here many times over the last several years.

I Love Cheeseburgers

Hey, Friends!

It is Odie writing again today. I hope you have had a good week and you are surviving this long winter. Thankfully, in this part of Mississippi we have escaped the snow. We can bundle up and make it through the rain.

We  had a great week. It was fun being with our friends at White Plains Holiness Assembly! I am so thankful for the power of God we felt in each service.

Last night we attended the Wild Game Supper at First Assembly in Ellisville, Mississippi. We had a blast with our friends last night. It was a fundraiser for their school and was a lot of fun and good food too. I am sure that Dad will post some pictures of all the fun and food next week.

I am anticipating a wonderful weekend in Richton, Mississippi. We always look forward to services with Pastor Scott Morris and the congregation of First Assembly. You never know what might happen!

It is not too late to join us this coming week for March Meeting in Semmes, Alabama. I look forward to joining with many friends this week in Campmeeting on the Allentown Holiness Church grounds. It will begin Tuesday morning and last until Friday night. Come be in service with us if you can. We always leave there with our spiritual batteries charged.

Our family has been on a diet since September 1, 2013. Cheeseburgers and pizza are two of our favorite food we have cut out. Pizza is mine and Mom's favorite food and cheeseburgers are Dad's favorite. My parents have not eaten any pizza during that time. I have caved a few times. I did make one whole year between indulging my pizza craving.  Dad says it has been one year six months and seven days since he has eaten a cheeseburgers. Mom has had one, and I have had two burgers in all that time.

The first one I had was at Sis. Joan Morris' table in November 2013. She told me I had to eat what she put on my plate. You can not go against Grandmama Joan. Lol. Then in October of 2014 in California Pastor Deatherage took us to In-N-Out. I took it as a sign that it was OK for me to eat my favorite California burger.  Now I am trying to stay on the no burger wagon until Dad makes it to Ron's in Tulsa, Oklahoma. If you are new to the blog you can read some of Dad's posts about his favorite burger place at the following link. Ron's Hamburger and Chili is our favorite.

A few weeks ago Mom and I went through McDonald's drive thru for a drink. The attendant asked if we wanted a Quarter Pounder Meal. We answered a quick no, but inside I was screaming YES!!!!!  I was in Cheeseburger withdrawal.

I had a flashback to when I was 7 or 8 years old. I thought McDonald's only served cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets and fries to eat. Mom and Dad always ordered for me and so I always had cheeseburgers, chicken nuggets and fries. Around that time my uncle Tommy took me to McDonald's. I told him to order for me. This is what I got.

That is a beautiful Quarter Pounder with Cheese. I ate every bite of the sandwich. It definitely broadened my horizons on McDonald's food. It also started a craving that has never died.

In full disclosure, I tried to convince Mom that I need to eat a Quarter Pounder for old times sake and so I could have pictures for a blog. Mom said, "that is why you have Google."

This is my uncle Tommy Boggs.

We are not really all that far apart in age. In our younger days we fought like cats and dogs but when I look back now, he really spoiled me a lot. I enjoyed every moment of it including my first Quarter Pounder.

Thanks, Uncle Tommy, for sharing your love of food with me. It is still something we have in common today. I really do appreciate all the little things you have done for me along the way.  I love my memories of our adventures.  I apologize for ever being mean to you!!  I love you!!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Sebastopol to Richton, Mississippi

We ended revival Wednesday at White Plains with a very good altar service. God really helped us for the five services we were there. You can see the pictures from revival in yesterday's post. After visiting a while we loaded up the sound equipment, cranked the BoggsMobile and headed out before the winter weather moved in.

The temperature was still in the 60's but it was dropping fast and headed down to 28 by morning. I wanted to get as far south as we could. It was about 130 miles from the church to Richton, Mississippi. Although it rained almost all of the way we had a very smooth trip and we pulled in just after midnight.

We parked in parking lot of First Assembly at Richton and prepared for bed. It was nice to see it was 72 degrees at 2:00 AM as I was laying down. When Bro. Scott and I were hooking up the electricity Thursday morning it was already below 40 degrees. It was pretty cold all day and cold overnight into today as well. It should bounce back up today.

We went to eat lunch Thursday with Bro. Scott and Sis. Kim at a place called the Wharf in Petal, Mississippi. We have eaten food from there more than once but it was our first visit to the restaurant. Bro. Scott, Sis. Kim and Sis. Regan had the boiled shrimp with potatoes and corn.

We had the boiled shrimp. It was so good and of course the fellowship with friends was even better. We really enjoyed it.

We had a relaxing day partly spent with friends and partly spent resting and getting some work done in the bus. I was working on paperwork that never seems to end and Kelly Jo was doing some cleaning and organizing. It was a very good day.

Today we are planning to eat lunch in Hattiesburg with the Morris' again and some other friends and attend the wild game supper at Ellisville. It is a fundraiser for the school at First Assembly and we are looking forward to helping the school AND eating some great food.

We are supposed to preach here at First Assembly Sunday morning and then sing Sunday night. We are looking forward to the services. We are looking forward to a great weekend. I hope you have a great weekend too.
