A Terrific Weekend At Home

Yes, this was really a terrific weekend at home. Friday evening and all day Saturday was devoted almost totally to organizing in the barn. Kelly Jo worked many hours with me on that in addition to her cleaning and organizing in the BoggsMobile and going to the laundry. I will have pictures later in the week of some of the results of that work.

Also Friday Dad had helped me trim some trees that could potentially rub the roof of the barn on one side and we piled all the limbs and brush in front of the barn. Kelly Jo helped me drag all of that to the other side and pile it all up for a future fire. Saturday I trimmed the two trees along the drive and Levi, the neighbor boy helped me drag them to the pile.

We took a short break in the early afternoon to meet my brother Steve and his wife Karen for our annual Christmas dinner. Steve and his family takes care of and forward all of our mail while were gone in addition to a bunch of other things they do for us. They have been doing this job for 12 years. Each year we take them to dinner for Christmas.

Almost every year we have went to J. Alexander's. The food is always excellent..

We did remember to take pictures of the food, as you can see, but we were enjoying the company so much that we forgot to take pictures of the people. Never fear, we did get a picture of Steve and Karen Sunday at Acapulco and you will see that below.

Sunday started off very, very cold and pretty much stayed that way the whole day. The sun did shine in the afternoon and that helped tremendously. As I was taking the pictures below it was 24 degrees and I certainly believed it.

Sunday morning we were blessed to attend our home church and to hear our Pastor preach. It was a great service but since we did not get any pictures, I guess you will have to take our word for it.

Here we are! The one and only picture from Acapulco Sunday.

Odie pretty much stays full time with my parents when we are home. We picked her up Sunday and took her to church with us and then she wanted to go to Acapulco for some reason. After she had her belly full she wanted a nap. We only had a couple of hours before church time so she went to the BoggsMobile with us. This was the first time she had every been in the barn on the Lazy OD Ranch!

Here is a picture of Odie coming into the barn for the first time!

After a little rest we made the short trip up to North Dayton and Murlin Heights Pentecostal Church. Pastor Kevin Lloyd had invited us up for a service while we are home and it was our privilege and honor to go. Bro. Lloyd and his folks have been so good to us through the years and we always enjoy being with them.

Odie snapped a few pictures from Murlin Heights.

The temperatures are supposed to warm up the next three days but Tuesday and Wednesday also have a 90% chance of rain. That leaves only today without the serious threat of rain so I am going to try to finish all the outdoor tasks that need to be completed. Hopefully we can wrap up as much as possible. Come to think of it, I better get to work.

I hope you had a great weekend. Thanks for reading.

View Out The Front Window December 21, 2014

The view has not changed this week although we have had a busy and blessed week.

If all goes as planned, our view should start changing again on Friday.

Thank you for praying for us this week. Kelly Jo's Dad is doing well and we are coming right along in getting the barn in some kind of good shape. I will have some pictures of that late this week. I hope you have a super great Sunday. We are attending our home church at Dryden Rd. this morning and then preaching for our friends at Murlin Heights in North Dayton tonight. We are looking forward to a wonderful day.

Thanks for reading.

Odie's Christmas Memories Past = Surprise Visitors

Happy Saturday friends! On this last Saturday before Christmas I have one more Christmas memory from Kansas to tell you. It is a good one!

My Mom's family "The Morgans" always celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. During the Wichita years when we were away from Ohio on Christmas Eve we would always call and talk to everyone as the family was gathered together. In 2001 we called just like before and the Morgan's were preparing to eat our traditional Christmas Eve meal of pizza. Later in the evening Mom and I tried to call several times and there was no answer. I thought it was very strange that no one was home for hours.

At 6:00 AM Christmas morning I discovered why there was no answer on their phone in Ohio.  I was awakened by the sound of our door opening, my Mother screaming and then my Gran's voice. I was so excited! I hurriedly crawled through the house to get to them. I have no idea why but I was barking like a dog. I say the "Odie spirit" came over me. LOL!!

My grandparents and Aunt Kim had traveled all night to surprise me and Mom. Dad knew they were coming and had kept the secret for weeks. I tell you it is one of my favorite Christmas surprises.

Thank you again Gran, Papaw and Aunt Kim for making the long drive to be with us'. Y'all made 2001 a very memorable Christmas!!

Now back to present day. With Papaw Danny Morgan home and recovering from open heart surgery, we are gearing up for a very Morgan Christmas again this year. It is going to be a joy to gather at Gran and Papaw's in Hillsboro this year on Christmas Eve. There is no telling how many good memories we will make.

We will also gather with the Boggs Family on Christmas day in the afternoon. It is sure to be a wonderful time there as well. I am really looking forward to all of our family time before we leave for revival the day after Christmas.

I know that some of you have had a very rough year and Christmas will not be the same as it has been in years past. I pray that God will bless you with peace and comfort during these days. I am praying for you.

To close out the post today I am posting some pictures I have on my camera roll from the last several days.

Traveling in the Green Machine to Ohio. Yes I was awake the whole trip.

Christmas singalong with XM

Starbucks makes any trip better.

Dinner with Hisle family in Indiana on the way home. Thank you for all for the invitation tom meet, the yummy meal and the great fellowship.

Pictures from our time at the hospital.

I found a taco truck in the gift shop at hospital! Too bad the tacos were not real.

Last Saturday we took a quick break from hospital food. We had a scrumptious lunch at Longhorn.

A very sweet lady that goes to church with my grandparents loaded us down with snacks and goodies at the hospital. It was a very thoughtful gift!

I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas!!
