So What Happened Sunday and Monday?

-------------------------------

I guess I need to bring you up to date on the events of the last couple of days. Sunday morning we went back to the church where the Martin's (Hope for the Home Ministries) conducted the Kid's Crusade last week. The church is Fort Totten Gospel Lighthouse and the pastor is Brandon Wegener.

We had a good service and enjoyed the fellowship with Pastor Brandon and his folks. He asked us to minister in song and we sang a couple of songs before the preaching. We sure appreciate their kindness and hospitality.

The church is actually only about five miles from where we are parked at Graham's Island State Park but the road between is about 20 feet under the lake so it is 29 miles around the lake. No problem though because it is a beautiful drive.

There is a game preserve near the church on the south side of the lake and we drove through it after church.

It was beautiful and well worth the two dollars for the car load. They have a few elk in the preserve but they were allusive. We did see a swarm of buffalo and gaggle of prairie dogs.

Sunday evening we sat outside and for devotions I read aloud the first chapter of "Robert Hardy's Seven Days." I love that book. Have you read it yet?

This morning we were up early for a road trip into Canada. We are only a 75-80 miles from the border so it really was not too much of a drive. We crossed into Canada at the Crystal City crossing and met a very pleasant Canadian border agent.

The Crystal City crossing is not very busy so after the formalities were taken care of he offered us lots of good information and great conversation. It is always a treat to meet some body with a great personality. The agent took his job seriously but did not take himself too seriously. That is a great combination.

We drove north several miles and then turned east and drove to Winkler. It was all beautiful country.

In Winkler it started feeling hungry so we went searching for a place to eat. We exhausted several options and then settled on a local Mexican place. Actually the name was Mexican, Del Rio's,  but they specialize in Mexican and Mennonite food. What?

Yep, that should have been my first clue. You know I love Mexican food and I love everything I have eaten in Mennonite country but they specialize in both? It was definitely NOT one of my better decisions.

It looked great but who eats Mexican food in Canada? Not me, at least not any more. The people were real friendly, the place was super clean but Mexican food in Canada? I must have been dropped on my head as a baby to think that would work.

The city of Winkler has a beautiful city park that honors its heritage and it is very nice. They honor early settlers from Germany and from the Ukraine. I tell you these folks were a hardy lot to endure this place in the winter. I am not joking. They were better men than me. They left their homes, families and everything they knew to come to a strange place so they could live and worship in freedom.

Kelly Jo had laid out some stuffed chicken thighs from Pine Prairie, Louisiana so we HAD to eat them Monday evening. Wow! What a meal. Kelly Jo does not get to cook very much with our lifestyle so I do not write about it often, but that girl can cook! She loves to tell everybody that she could not cook when we married but that was nearly 30 years ago. She has learned well!

I think that brings you up to date. God bless you all .

Let's Buy Some Bibles

------------------

Many of you are familiar with our dear friends Bro. and Larry and Sis. Rosemary Landress. To say that they have went out of their way to be exceptional friends to us might be the understatement of the year. These friends have believed in us when few people did and we are blessed and grateful to know them.

Bro. and Sis. Landress have given many years to mission work among the Spanish speaking people. That work continues to this day. In fact as I have mentioned before, we are planning to join them for a tent revival in the state of Chiapas, Mexico later this year.

In addition to all of the physical work of evangelism, tent meetings, building churches, feeding and clothing folks and much, much more that is involved in mission work, Bro. Larry has touched thousands of lives through their literature ministry. They have distributed thousands of tracts, booklets, pieces of Sunday School literature and many thousands of Bibles.

They have contracted with a company to print some great Bibles in the best version available for Spanish speaking people. Bro. Larry wrote of it recently in their newsletter and I am so excited about it that I asked them if I could reprint it here on our blog.

I told you that these folks believe in us. Well, the feeling is mutual. I believe in the Landress family and the work they are doing in Mexico and beyond. I believe they are making a wise choice to print these Bibles. I believe it enough to put my money where my mouth is. Boggs Family Ministries will be sending an offering for these Bibles. I believe God's people will make up the difference that they need.

I also believe this should be an ongoing thing. Bro. Larry will need at least a few thousand of these each year. Plus there are other missionaries and ministries that could distribute this version combined with the concordance once they know it is available.

It is not that there are no economy Bibles available or very nice leather Bibles available. But as you will read below there is a great need for an inexpensive yet durable study Bible in a reliable version. Bro. Larry is burdened to meet that need.

Will you join us in making God's Word available to the masses in the language they understand? I hope Tyndale's quote below will stir you as it did me.

I will allow Bro. Larry to take over from here...

Dear Friends,

Many of you know that I have been studying Bible versions for over 30 years. This long term study has led me to know exactly why I believe in the exclusive use of the King James Version in my English work and in the Reina Valera Gomez Version for my work in Spanish speaking countries.

I have been giving free economy Spanish Bibles to all that ask of me for over 22 years and trying to supply good leather bound Bibles to our Pastors and workers. These economy Bibles have cost us anywhere from nothing to about $6.00 each and we have distributed about 2,000 per year for a long time.

I made the choice many years ago to not sell Bibles but to carefully and prayerfully give them to all who asked of me. God has richly blessed that choice and supplied all our need according to His riches in glory. We have always been able to give to anyone who wanted a Bible whether it was a tent meeting, a prison or a street service in the USA or Mexico . We have sent Bibles to 10 other Spanish speaking countries besides Mexico and have received many letters of testimony through our literature ministry called “Holiness Without Borders”.

For the last few years we have seen a need that has gone unmet, many of the people who received Christ through our ministry and others are striving daily to “study to shew themselves approved unto God” but don’t have all the tools they need. As you know, a good concordance is a great help to the earnest child of God and our economy Bibles don’t have one. Of course all the leather Bibles do, but they cost us from $35.00 to $50.00, much too expensive to be able to give to all who ask.

I have recently contracted with an overseas printer to make us a vinyl covered, smith sewn Bible on good quality bible paper in the RVG version for only $6.50 each. I have seen the quality of these Bibles and it is really nice. Our Bible will be called a study Bible because it will contain a 122 page concordance especially made for the RVG Bible. In order to get this special printing we had to order 3,000 Bibles. By September of this year I will need to have $19,500 to pay the printing company.

I have prayed about this and am convinced that God is in favor of this project. We already have about $3,600 in hand and more has been promised. Will you pray for this need and consider helping if the Lord asks you to do so?

William Tyndale was burned at the stake saying for this,

I defy the pope and all his laws. If God spare my life, ere many years I will cause a boy that driveth the plough to know more of the scripture than he dost.”

If this generation will be able to know the true Gospel of Jesus Christ in the midst of all the deceiving religions of this present world, our only hope is that everyone from beggar to King know the truth of the Word of God for themselves.

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

A Few Pictures From This Week

Find the latest news in THIS POST.

------------------------

It is a gorgeous day in North Dakota. The temperature was in the upper 40s overnight and might hit 70 today with brilliant sunshine! Wow!

Here are some pictures from the last week in Minnesota and a bunch from North Dakota. This is a beautiful place. We feel very blessed to have been here. I hope you have a great Sunday.

Kelly Jo and Odie snapped a few pictures at the Mall of America in Minneapolis when they visited on Tuesday. They really enjoyed walking around, taking in the sites and finding a few bargains.

Pictures from North Dakota and a few from Manitoba.

Mexican S'mores cooked over the fire.

A giant turtle in Dunseith. It is made out of car rims. We would have been parked about 100 feet from this if we had took the bus to Dunseith. I had planned in getting a lot more pictures then. It is neat.

What a Difference a Few Hours Can Make

Friday morning:

I let the girls rest a while this morning (Friday) and now they are getting ready so we can drive north. We are only about 95 miles to Dunseith where we begin revival Sunday but we are going to leave the BoggsMobile here in this beautiful camp ground at Graham's Island State park until Saturday.

We are going to drive the Green Machine up to Dunseith and scope out the campground situation. We can not park at the church but Bro. Martin has parked at a little RV Park on previous visits. We want to check it out and find the church as well. Then we plan to cross over into Canada for a little while and breathe in some Canadian air.

If all goes according to plan we will come back to the bus tonight (Friday) and drive it to Dunseith on Saturday in preparation for revival. We are so excited to see what the Lord is going to do in Dunseith. It is a brand new place for us and a brand new setting to minister in but we know the Lord is interested in saving lives every where. The Gospel of Jesus Christ will speak to every human in every circumstance of life.

Friday Evening:

What a difference a few hours makes...

We drove to Dunseith today and located the church and RV Park. We drove a few miles into Manitoba, Canada and stopped in the nice little town of Boissevain. This is Coutney's first picture in Canada.

We ate lunch at a regional chain called Chicken Chef and it was pretty good. It was like a local diner. The folks were friendly and the food was good and hot.

The first picture is of a Ukrainian dish called Perogies that we ordered as an appetizer. It is cheese and potatoes mixed together, deep fried in dough and then topped with bacon and onions. Anytime you say cheese, deep fried, bacon and onions in the same sentence it has to be good!

We drove back through Dunseith and made arrangements with the RV Park to pull the bus in Saturday. They only had one spot and it was too little but they wanted to accommodate us in any way they could. It is always refreshing to run into true hospitality. They offered us several places to dry camp (park without electricity and water) and since the forecast is so cool and we would not have to run the generator much, we decided to do it.

As we were driving back to Devils Lake Bro. Martin called with bad news. The Pastor in Dunseith had received a call today from his superiors and his church is being shut down at least temporarily. The Pastor was forced to make some hard decisions recently and one of those decisions included allowing the insurance policy to lapse because of what he felt were more pressing needs.

Evidently the recent vandalism brought this decision under the scrutiny of those above him in his organization and they were not pleased. They informed him that there could be no more services in the building at all until the insurance was in place.

If it were a matter of simply paying the premium then we would be willing to help with that since this is a mission effort on our part anyway. But even if the money was made available, the Pastor is now searching for a company willing to write the policy. There was nothing left to do but cancel the revival.

The Pastor felt very bad for us and Bro. Martin felt extremely bad for us as well. I told Bro. Martin not to worry about it at all. I do not hold him responsible at all. There is no way to plan for or avoid a situation like this. We are definitely disappointed ourselves but we know that God is in control. God knows what we are doing way up here in North Dakota even if I do not have a clue.

I told the young men and women working in the Kid's Crusade yesterday about Svea Flood. Many of you have heard me tell it many times and you will probably hear me tell it many more times. Svea was a missionary's wife that won one little 8 year old boy to the Lord before she died in the Belgian Congo in the 1920s. One convert was the sum total of the missionary effort of two couples in Africa.

To many, her life seemed wasted. But her effort was not wasted. She died. Her husband returned home and gave up his commitment to God. The other missionary couple died a few months later. But Svea had won that little boy to the Lord.

The little boy grew up in a village with no other Christians. As a young man he started a school. He won the students to the Lord. He won their parents to the Lord. Years later he became the superintendent of the church in Zaire (Belgian Congo) and personally testified that thousand of people were serving God and thousands of people were in Heaven because Svea Flood won one little 8 year old boy to the Lord.

Now, I am not saying I am Svea Flood or could ever have the courage, determination or selflessness to be the solder she was for Christ. No, I have seen myself and that is not me...yet.

But I did have opportunity to have very in depth conversations with two different men about the Gospel and the love of Christ on this trip.

Odie led a young girl to Christ yesterday in a neighborhood service.

All of us prayed with children concerning salvation last night in the Kid's Crusade.

I embraced a young man last night that covered his abject fear, helplessness and vulnerability with bravado, masochism and rebellion. I saw myself in that kid. That was very near me 30-35 years ago. I told him so. I told him that is why I could see right through his mask. I told him that Jesus was his only hope. He let his guard down for a moment, hugged me and then strutted away.

There are a thousand reasons why we are here and not preaching revival in any number of places. I may never put my finger on one reason, but we have promised God repeatedly that we will follow him blindly any where and any time. We have asked God to lead us and to guide us to minister to whoever and wherever He chooses.

Will we complain because we are now confused? I say, God forbid. I have put my sail in the air and asked God to blow us where He will. I have promised not to trim my sail and use His wind to sail my own course. We are hundreds of miles from any contacts and have no place scheduled to be until Omaha in 8 days. We are content to let God lead us where we need to be.

God is in control. Thanks for praying for us. I sure hope that nobody we know was trying to sneak up on us and surprise us in Dunseith. Wow! Will you every be surprised!
