New Odie Mobile

Odie's current power chair was given to her in the fall of 2008. It was used then and she has used it quite a bit but it is still in good shape. We have had some trouble with charging it but we took care of that last week. We have been looking at smaller, lighter power chairs so that it is more portable. Kelly Jo and I can lift the current one in the Green Machine but it is a chore.

Getting the chair loaded was one of the main reason's we could not keep The General last year. We felt like we were killing ourselves putting the chair in it. The Green Machine is much lower and much easier but still difficult lifting it in or out.

We have been considering some chairs we have seen on the internet but its hard to know without actually seeing one and trying it out. Bro. Mike Smith goes to church here and has a power chair like the ones we had been looking at so we asked him about them.

He really likes that type of chair and the one he uses has some great features but it is too heavy for us. We want it light enough that KJ can take it apart and easily lift the heaviest part into the car when they are out in town. That would give them so much more flexibility.

Bro. Smith has a few chairs because he used to work on them all the time. He had one that needed batteries and a little work. He worked on it this week, we bought the batteries and he brought it to the church today so Odie could try it out. Odie has not driven anything that steers like a car much so it is going to take some getting use to. I think she is going to be able to do it. It tips a little easier and she can not handle it well yet but I believe the light weight portability will be worth it.

Bro. Smith and his family are going to give the chair to Odie if she can use it and we appreciate it very much. It is a very nice and thoughtful gift. May God bless their family because of their generosity, consideration and kindness.

Revival is going great. We are having great services and visitors every night. Tonight (Thursday) we had some saved and that is always awesome. Bro. Ralph and Sis. Mona Lowery drove all the way over from Tuscaloosa for the service tonight. It was great to see them and to be in service with them.

We have one more night of revival here and we are excited to see what God is going to do. Thanks for praying for us.

Thank God for Protection

When we were at Prevost Nashville a few weeks ago there was another bus that had been wrecked. I did not get an up close picture of the sides but they were beautiful before the accident. The murals on each side were gorgeous. Somebody had obviously put a lot of time, effort and money into that bus.

It was damaged on both sides like it had been side swiped or ran up against something. At first I thought it had turned over on its side but on closer inspection I do not believe it rolled over. It made me feel physically ill to look at in person and ever the pictures make my heart sink.

There was a professional driver looking at the bus while I was walking around it and I struck up a conversation. He kept shaking his head and saying, "That can happen so fast." He is exactly right and that is the reason I try to drive so carefully and prayerfully. Something bad could happen so fast.

But in all my carefulness, I need more than that. I need the help of the Lord. God has certainly kept his hand on us as we have traveled across this country all of these years. We had a drunk driver scrape down the side of our last fifth wheel in 2008 but even that could have been much worse than it was. He could have hit us head on.

I have had to stand on the brakes a few times in the BoggsMobile because somebody did something crazy in front of me. I am always looking and I try to be constantly aware of what is going on around me but reacting one second late could be catastrophic.

I am very thankful that God is much more aware of what is going on than I could ever hope to be. God sees the big picture. God sees the trouble before it starts. I want to be sensitive to His voice and His leading.

I know that some of your pray for our safety every day and I want you to know how much we appreciate it. God bless you for holding our family up before God as we run up and down the roads. I know God hears your prayers.

Monday, February 25, 2013

We had a full day on Monday and I think about everybody at church was wore out when it was all over. Pastor Kenny Morris preached two funerals and the church had a visitation, meal, funeral, graveside and then church last night. It was a long day for the folks of First Assembly.

We had storms off and on all day and there was a tornado watch when church started. All of the distractions could have really hindered the service but Bro. Kenny started the service on a high note and it carried all the way through. Bro. Scott and Sis. Kim were there tonight and Bro. Scott helped in the service so much. The Lord moved in the altar service and blessed in spite of everything. I am so thankful that He did because that could have been a long train to pull by myself. Praise God for His faithfulness.

Bro. Marty Millikin spent several hours in surgery Monday but came through it well. Bro. Jimmy said the mass was the size of a football but the doctor thinks that he was able to remove all of it. Some of he lymph nodes were inflamed so if it proves to be cancer then they will give Bro. Marty chemo. We are so thankful that Bro. Marty came through the surgery and we are looking for more good news in the coming days.

My cousin, Gary Coffman, had a similar situation last spring and the doctors were sure it was cancer even after they removed it. However the report came back from the pathologist that it was benign. We know that God is able to work a miracle just like that for Bro. Marty. Even if he does have to have treatments we are so thankful God has helped him to this point.

The weather is supposed to clear up today. It may be windy and a little cooler the next few days but the rain is gone for a week or so. All the rivers and streams around here are flooding and many of the men have not been able to work so they are all glad to see the sunshine. I am so glad that I am not in Oklahoma or Kansas in the middle of a blizzard right now. I think I am allergic to snow. It makes me shiver!

Thanks for praying for us and for Bro. Marty Millikin. We know that God hears the prayers of the saints.
