Blue Ox Base Plate

I installed the Blue Ox Base Plate on the Denali yesterday and today. The Base Plate allows me to hook up the tow bar that is attached to the BoggsMobile. I needed to get it on this week since I'm leaving the trailer in the south. If I had no way to pull the Denali then Kelly Jo would have to follow me. That would not be good. No sense putting her through it or buying the gas.

The Base Plate actually went on pretty easy considering how mechanically UN-inclined I am. I know God helped me. I had to buy a drill bit, an odd sized wrench and a small tube of red Loc-tite and still saved at least $200.

I will try it out on the short trip to Richton, Mississippi on Monday to make sure it is ready for a big jump the next Saturday. Once I hook the lights up we will be ready to roll. I'll try to get that finished next week.

Into the Jungle

First of all, I want to wish my brother Tommy a Happy Birthday today! Have a great Birthday, Tommy!

There is a blog I have been reading for a year or so that I think some of you may find interesting. He only posts about 3-5 times a month but I always look forward to his pictures and the what he has to say. His name is Dave and he is a missionary pilot and mechanic with MAF International (Mission Aviation Fellowship,) serving in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. He serves there with his wife and five children.

Although he is a pilot and normally flies OVER the jungle, Dave and his coworker take an annual hike for a week or two THROUGH the jungle with local guides. This year's trip was their most ambitious. They hiked through areas where it is likely men have not been for many years if ever. Of their three guides only one of them had ever been in any of the remote area they were hiking through. He tells about it in three posts. It is really amazing. Kelly Jo and I loved the posts and the awesome pictures. I believe you may like them as well. Below are links to the three posts. Let us know what you think...

The Boiling Pot

Yep, it is time for the Boiling Pot again. Every time we are in the Mobile area we try our best to include a trip to the Boiling Pot. We have eaten various types of seafood there but we always wind up back at the Overstuffed Shrimp Poboy. The shrimp is so good and they pile them on too! I ordered a Shrimp Poboy in March at one of the "famous" seafood places in Mobile and it had 10 shrimp on the whole sandwich and cost a bundle.

Kelly Jo orders the half and it has a huge amount of shrimp as you can see.

The whole Overstuffed Shrimp Poboy at the Boiling Pot is 13.99 and has more shrimp than one human "ought" to be able to eat. I'll just leave it at that.

There is one drawback. If you want to drink water as I do they won't give you a water cup. You have to order a drink at full price to get the cup. If I remember to do it, I take my own water. No sense paying $2 for a cup to drink water. That's the only drawback I have found so far.

We may wind up back down there again before the week is over....
