July 3rd - Happy Birthday, Kelly Jo!

My girl is having another birthday today.

Some of my favorite pictures of Kelly Jo.

And one from yesterday.

Kelly Jo is is the hardest working preacher's wife I know. She does so much behind the scenes to take care of me and Odie and to keep us on the road. All that work is in addition to all the playing and singing, set up and tear down that everybody can see.

She loves our little girl more than I can describe and if she doesn't love me then she deserves a Lifetime Achievement Oscar from the Academy Awards because she has me and everybody else fooled by her acting. No way anybody could keep up such an incredible act for 30 years.

If I remember correctly I have been with her on every one of her birthdays since she turned 16. I also attended her 11th birthday party as well. It is a pleasure and honor to spend the day with her again today. I am thankful to be blessed with her love and friendship.

It is incredible that she chooses to spend another year with me. I will probably take her to Acapulco for lunch today and this evening after Odie is finished with her MRI, I may take Kelly Jo some place really special and buy her a birthday burrito! She deserves it!

Happy Birthday, Kelly Jo. I love you, baby doll. I hope you have a great day and a super year.

Schedule Changes and More Tent Pictures

The last two years I have learned some real lessons in scheduling revivals. The main lesson being that everything is subject to drastic change at any moment! We have had to change, cancel, postpone, or shorten more revivals the last 18 months than we have in over 14 years of evangelizing combined.

The reasons range from sickness in our families and friends, death and funerals, mechanical troubles, unforeseen logistical problems in tent revivals and lately because of Odie's health crisis with her eye. That does not even include Pastors that have needed to cancel or reschedule for whatever reason.

It is enough some times to make me wonder if I even know what I am supposed to be doing. I mentioned the other day that I get excited when God starts changing things around but there are times when I wonder if God is within a million miles of what I think I should do. These sudden changes are still exciting but for all the wrong reasons. Lol!

When Odie started having trouble we had to cut short revival in Salem, Kentucky and cancel revivals in Gainesville, Texas and Lawton, Oklahoma and we hated to do it. All those churches have been faithful to have us multiple times and we love going there. In June we had to cancel Homecoming revival near Wartburg, Tennessee because Pastor Herman Woods was in the hospital. We have basically rearranged our whole summer twice. Neither way worked!

Some of the changes have been good. If it were not for rearranging things we would not be in revival this week at Anchor of Hope. We would be missing out on the great move of God we are experiencing these last few nights. So God gets the glory even when I do not have a clue as to where I am really supposed to be until I find myself there.

This week we had some other changes out of our control but it did open a window for us to squeeze in Bro. Woods and his church in Tennessee. We will be able to swing by there and only go a couple hundred miles out of the way. IF all goes as planned we will be there July 23rd-27th, Wednesday through Sunday. We have been preaching for them for 26 years and we are glad to be able to reschedule that revival.

Who knows what will happen tomorrow. Stick around because something is liable to change again. Thank God that He does not change!

Here are a few more pictures from tent revival in Goshen, Ohio. These are from Friday night. We only have few from the tent take down for some reason. It came down great and the home folks and visitors all worked well together. It was a great night.

Thanks for reading.

Praise Report and Prayer Request - Odie

Here is Odie singing Monday night during the altar service at Anchor of Hope.

Edit: Kettering Hospital called Odie on Tuesday with approval for the MRI the neurologist ordered. She is scheduled to have that on Thursday night.

Odie had her first appointment with the Neuro-Ophthalmologist on Monday morning. She had been seen by an Ophthalmologist in his office in April and this was a follow up appointment. She was there to have all the tests repeated so they could gauge her recovery. The tests in April served as a baseline test and those test were administered about two days after the Lord began to restore her sight so we knew they would reveal a big improvement.

AND THEY DID! The doctor used words like dramatic, impressive and incredible to describe the improvement between April and now. He told Odie her vision was a thousand times better than it was in April. Praise God! As we have said before Odie's vision in her left eye is not 100% but it is close and we are thankful to God for His help.

We do have more on this that we would like for you to pray about. IF Odie's sudden blindness was caused by Optic Neuritis it is possible it occurred on its own with no underlying cause. There is about a 20% chance that the Optic Neuritis is a symptom of something else and one of those other causes is MS. The MRIs and spinal tap and other tests have been ordered so they can rule out MS and the other causes we are less familiar with and can not pronounce.

We do not have a final answer yet but we are believing God for a clean report. Would you help us pray? Would you rebuke the enemy and ask God to give us complete victory in this. We know He is able and we are trusting Him for this help.

Odie is scheduled for another round of the tests she had today when we return home for campmeeting in August. We should know more then. Until then we will seek God and serve God.

Thanks for praying.

Revival At Anchor of Hope

Sometimes is is hard to ease into revival inside the church after a super tent revival but there was no need to ease into anything Sunday. It was wide open at Anchor of Hope both services. Sunday morning God was reaching for the hurting and the lost. Sunday night he blessed and helped all through the service and touched several in a prayer line at the end. We plan to be here three more nights and we are expecting three more great services.

Bro. and Sis. Lamb took us to Acapulco for lunch yesterday. They were the ones that introduced us to Acapulco the first time several years ago. What a monumental occasion that turned out to be. I was glad Kelly Jo was blessed to drink some good salsa for our anniversary. That makes the whole day pretty special. Maybe I will take her back for her birthday on Thursday. That would be sweet for both of us.

I appreciate Pastor Bill Lamb swinging the door open wide for us here at Anchor of Hope. The church treats us so well and we love every minute of it. It is also nice to preach close to home where we can see so many folks we know. It is like family reunion every where we go here. The churches, Kroger's, Walmart, Frisch's and Acapulco are full of people we know or are related too.

This is our third week close to home in revival and it has been great. We plan to leave here Friday or Saturday and point the BoggsMobile toward eastern Kentucky. We will get to be with family and extended family that week so that will be fun too.

Here are a few pictures from our day yesterday. We should have a bunch more to post later in the week. Thanks for reading.

View Out The Front Window 6/29/2014

Today I celebrate 29 years of happy marriage to my girl friend, Kelly Jo Boggs. She says it may be 29 years but it feels like 15 minutes ... under water! I have waxed eloquent in years past about this precious little lady and I think they are worth reading again. Lol! They brought me to tears!

Most of the posts this week have revolved around tent revival because when the tent is up our life pretty much revolves around tent revival. The first on the list is Odie's post from yesterday. I am not sure she meant all the nice things she said but she sure was sweet.

We really had a great week. I thank God for the opportunity to put the tent up in the Lakeshore Estates community. When Bro. Cornett approached me about tent revival there was no way to squeeze another one in. But the Spirit of God quickened me to do it anyway and I love it when that happens.

I was planning to be in California all summer but when I felt God assuring me several months ago that I needed to set the tent up in Goshen and in Springville, Indiana (where we were a few weeks ago) I started making phone calls and everything came together great. I appreciate Pastor Cornett working with the dates that I gave him. With all the youth camps and summer heat it was not the best time but Bro. Cornett and his church fell right in and worked very hard during tent revival.

The tent came down after service Friday night. Home folks and visitors alike jumped in to get all the work done and then my parents provided pizza for all the folks that stayed and worked. Tent revival is NEVER a one man show and it is never more evident when the tent is going up and coming down. I sure an thankful for all the help.

We are now near Lebanon, Ohio at Anchor of Hope where we begin revival this morning. Here is our view out the front window and from the front door. This is another place that we enjoy parking very much. I hope you have a great Sunday.

Happy Anniversary and Happy Birthday

Hey friends, it is Odie checking in today. I hope you all have had a good week. We have had a wonderful week. God has been moving under the tent and beyond every night. There is no greater sight than seeing a lost person calling out to God for salvation. We have been blessed to see that several times this week. Praise God.

Please continue to pray for the folks that live in the community of Lake Shores. The tent is down and put up, but these people still need the Lord's help. Pastor Dwayne Cornett and Garden Acres Pentecostal Church are trying their best to win people for Christ and now God has given them some more folks to disciple. We know that God can help these folks because he has helped us.

Today I am including some previously posted pictures of my parents. Why? Because tomorrow is a very special day for them. Sunday, my parents will celebrate 29 years of marriage.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad! I love you both so much!! Thank you for letting God be king of our home. I appreciated your choices to follow God's leading in your lives. I have heard Dad tell so many times how messed up you all were when you were newly married kids. But I do not remember that. I have only known you covered by grace and sold out to the will of God. Thank God for what you have allowed Him to do in your lives and our family. You have been in full time ministry most of my life and I am thankful for the adventure.

Thursday July 3rd will be Mom's birthday. She is one special lady and deserves a special birthday.

Happy Birthday, Mother! I love you more than words can express. Thank you for your Godly example! I am so thankful God chose you to be my Mother. We have a lot of fun together and I love that. But I know it has not all been fun. You have dedicated your life and sacrificed a lot to take care of me and allow me to have a normal life even with a handicap. I want you and the world to know your commitment has not gone unnoticed. Thank you, Mom. I hope you have a great day on Thursday.

Have a wonderful weekend!  Thank you for reading. See you next week.
