Schedule Change Again?

Can you say schedule change? Go ahead, try it. Schedule change. I knew you could do it. I think maybe I should change the title of this blog to BoggsScheduleChange.com. It sure seems like changing plans is a reoccurring topic here lately. But we are willing to roll with the punches.

The main change this time is weather related. We have been in tent revival this week in Millry, Alabama and the weather is always a factor with tent revival. We cancelled Thursday night because the tent area was flooded with all the rain we had but the weather was near perfect for service Friday night although it was a little cool at the end.

Today (Saturday) was absolutely beautiful but rain is in the forecast the next three days with the biggest chance on Sunday. With the storms in the forecast for Sunday there was not much chance we would be having service under the tent. I need to take the tent down dry because it does not go back up until May 11th.

There was no church service planned for tonight so we took the tent down this afternoon. It came down  easy and everything was wrapped up and ready to go in just a little while. I appreciate all of the good help.

We had a little trouble getting the BoggsMobile off that lot. In fact we came a hair of being completely stuck. You can see in this picture that we were not parked very far from the pavement but I almost did not make it to the road. Other than that, the whole day was smooth.

Look closely at the tent in the picture above. Can you see the big white steeple on top of the tent? Isn't that cool? Actually there is a big church in the next block and the steeple lined up perfect with the tent. It sure looks like it belongs there.

We hooked up to the trailer and moved over to Midway (The sponsoring church of the tent revival) and we plan to be here both services Sunday. Bro. Lamar and his folks have worked so hard this week and we are thrilled and honored to be with them. Bro. Lamar grilled steaks for our familes at the tent before we took it down. Wow! That was a tremendous meal. Did I mention we were happy to be here? lol

Bro. Brent Gabbard is in revival in Gilbertown, Alabama this week. He drove down to visit with us for a while today and it was great to see him. The time flew by and before I knew it, Bro. Brent was on his way back to Gilbertown. It sure was great to see him.

I need to tell you about service Friday night but there is no way I can describe the way God moved among His people but I sure thank Him for it. The service was excellent. God met us in a mighty way. I think we are all anxious to get the tent back up in Millry sometime for a full week and give God a chance to work. Friday night was awesome.

Odie and I both have some pictures from Friday night and from the taking the tent down. We will try to get them posted later.

A second change concerns our May schedule. I had mentioned earlier that my Dad's surgery is planned for April 30 and we have arranged to be there for that. Our revival the first week of May was in Bristow, Virginia. We would have had to leave three days after Dad's surgery to make it there in time to start. I was a little uncomfortable with that. I contacted Pastor Ken Taylor and he understood completely.

Now we will have another week at home with my parents and I feel a lot better about it. Thanks for praying for my Dad and for praying for us. We really do appreciate it. God bless you.

Another Storm is Passed

We could not have church under the tent last night in Millry, Alabama. The rain was just way too much for the ground to deal with and there was water standing under the tent. The rain did stop for the most part by 6:00 but everybody would have been sloshing in water and it was cold too.

The sun is shining this morning and everything is drying out. We should be good to go tonight. I am excited to see what the Lord is going to do.

Along with the heavy rain yesterday we also had some very strong winds. I believe they were the strongest sustained winds that I have experienced with this tent. Thankfully the stakes are deep and the tent was very tight. Although I did tightened a few straps during the storm, the tent performed great. I believe the Miami Missionary Tent Company makes one of the best tents you can buy.

The wind was strong enough to blow over about 3/4 of the chairs yesterday. The only other time that has happened to me was under the tent I used in 2011 in Miami, Oklahoma. The National Weather Service said we had 60-70 MPH straight line winds that night and I believed it. That was a scary night. Bro. Jimmy Millikin and I fought to save that tent for a couple of hours in that storm and we were praising God that it held.

The wind was not as strong yesterday as that night in 2011 but the chairs could not stand up. It was rocking the bus, moving the chairs, flapping the tent and causing the Boggs family to pray through. Prayer is always good.

I am believing God for some more souls added to the kingdom of God in the service tonight and in the services Sunday. Will you pray with us and for us? Thank you.

Building A Church In Africa

I posted late last night about the first night of tent revival in Millry, Alabama and HERE are a bunch of pictures of the tent going up Tuesday evening.

The weather report is still looking dicey today and tonight. A few hours ago this storm was extending from Corpus Christi, Texas to Toronto, Canada and parts of it look pretty wicked. We have had a few burst of heavy rain but it is sunny and windy right now. We are hoping and praying for great weather at church time under the tent.

In December of 2012 Kelly Jo and I were blessed to take part in an outdoor Gospel Crusade at the site of a new church where the city of Abeokuta, Ogun State meets the bush. God met us in the crusade in a powerful way with many souls brought to Christ. It will stand as a highlight in our lives and ministry. 

We are so thankful that God allowed us to be a part of those services. Pastor Shobanke was amazed at how it all turned out and so were we. You can see great pictures and read some of our reports of those meetings HERE, HERE and HERE. In those posts I also update everybody on the trip and lack of sleep but the inconveniences were so small compared to the reward God granted us in that revival.

This is Bro. Shobanke's report from the cursade that I posted in January.

We conducted a 3-day gospel crusade at the frontage of our new church at Osara Road, Gbonogun, Abeokuta, Nigeria from Sunday 2^nd through Tuesday 4^th December 2012. Brother Boggs preached the gospel of power in the 3-day crusade. People came forward to the altar and prayed through. Many souls were saved and some received healing. One policeman testified to Brother Boggs of his salvation.
   Before we started the crusade, we were not prepared to start service at the new church. But the last day of the crusade I announced the starting of church service the following Sunday. I did that by faith in God. Why? The church building was not yet completed, no doors, no windows, no ceiling, no electricity and there were no chairs for people to sit. 
   Praise the Lord, on Thursday 6^th December, 2012, God used Bro. Davy Boggs and his ministry to buy sixty(60) chairs for the new church. The second miracle was that God used Bro. Boggs and Bro. Lockwood to give us $800.00 to complete the office of the church to keep the chairs and other equipment secure after each service.
   The first service in the new church branch was made possible by God on Sunday 9^th December, 2012. Praise the Lord. Twenty-seven (27) newly converted souls from the 3-day crusade attended the first service. There were Forty-six (46) total in attendance. The first Bible study on Tuesday had Thirty-five (35) there.

Bro. Shobanke tells me they have been in a constant state of revival ever since. God is saving, blessing and raising up a new church branch on Osaro Road for His glory and honor. Praise God for it!

On January 23rd I posted the projected expenses to finish that building. Some of the funds have been raised and some of the work has been completed but most of it still needs to be finished. A few people contacted me then and told me they would like to help complete this church. I would like to have an offering ready for the construction project when Bro. Shobanke arrives in the states to preach around the first of May.

I know that it is tough in this economy to give much above our tithe and regular offerings but I also know that Christians live by giving. We do not give to get, but when we give sacrificially God blesses what we have left over. I have watched Him do it time and again in our family.

God stretches dimes into dollars and puts another cup of meal in the barrel for the Boggs family on a regular basis. It is amazing to watch God work. Often, I can not wait to see what He is going to do.

We have an expensive year ahead of us. We are planning to record in a few weeks. Plus right now we have at least four of the ten-twelve tent revivals scheduled that will be complete mission efforts if they all come together. We will need to supply most if not all of the expenses for those four meetings and will expect nothing in return. We will spend thousands of dollars just traveling to those meetings, on top of all of our regular expenses and other things we had hoped to accomplish this year.

How are we going to do all of that? We are going to be as careful as we can, use as much sense in our spending as we can and we are going to give all we can and then maybe give a little more. Everything beyond that is in God's hands. I am convinced that when all is said and done we will end this year in the black because of the grace and help of God.

Therefore, we hope to have a good sized offering from our family to help complete the Osara Road church and some more to help Bro. Kuye finish his church. We plan to have our part ready by May 1. If those of you that wanted to help can send your offering by then, that would be great. You can send it to the address below and mark it "Osara Road" in the memo. Or mark it "Bro. Kuye" in the memo if you would like to help on his church. I assure you that every dime will go to those needs and not one dollar to us.

First Night of Tent Revival in Millry, Alabama

Wow! We had a great first night under the tent in Millry, Alabama. We had a great service, wonderful participation from local churches and four people saved. It was awesome. This community is excited about revival and that thrills me.

Some of the local churches dismissed their Wednesday services to support the tent revival. Others came as soon as their service was over. I sure appreciate that. It was a great encouragement to us and to the Midway church and Pastor Lamar Chapman. I love it when churches are willing to work together to spread the Gospel and wins souls. I know that God honored that tonight. I also believe the community notices that as well.

The weather forecast for tomorrow (Thursday) is not looking very good. There is a possibility of large hail and very high winds. I am praying that the storms dissipate completely. Would you pray with me about that?

The Tent is Up in Millry, Alabama

Tuesday ended up being a very long, hard day. We started early in Citronelle and pulled into Millry before 10:00.

We dropped the trailer in a parking lot, parked the BoggsMobile, hooked it up and started marking the stake line of the tent.

We are working with Pastor Lamar Chapman this week and he was here to help us all day. Bro. Scott Morris drove over from Richton and worked hard for a few hours too. I appreciate Bro. Scott for going way beyond the call of duty today.

We had never washed the tent before and we wanted to get that done before putting it up today. Bro. Lamar, Bro. Scott and Kelly Jo worked so hard to get it done. It is a huge job.

The tent went up great. We did have a little excess wind as we were raising it but it was not too bad. It feels good to have it finished.

Everything is ready now and we are expecting revival in this town. There is a lot of curiosity about the tent and excitement about revival. There is no telling what God is going to do.

Please pray for revival. Pray that we will be effective in the work God gives us to do and also pray that the weather is good every day.

We have zero phone service here but we do have some Internet. It is limited so we may not post many pictures after these below. We should be able to post text everyday, IF we can think of something to say.

Today was pretty uneventful, just like we planned it.  Kelly Jo and Odie did go to the laundromat and to Walmart but they usually enjoy getting out of the bus and not having to worry about getting back in time to set up the sound system and get ready for church. So it was a pretty good day for all of us.

I rested as much as I could this morning and I did some of the work that needs to be done before we travel. That only required a few minutes work and then I exerted the most energy of the day. Kelly Jo and I loaded up in the Green Machine and went in search of a barber shop in Citronelle.

The barber shop was closed so we went to a salon and a very few minutes later I had my summer cut.

It is pretty short. What do you think?

That's about all the excitement I could stand for one day.

Tomorrow we plan to hook up to the tent trailer and drive to Millry. We will drop the trailer in a parking lot, park the bus on the lot where the tent will go up and then move the trailer onto the same lot. I want to mark my stake lines and then drag the tent out and wash it. It needs to be washed really bad.

I hope to have that all finished by early afternoon so I can rest a few minutes before the help arrives to set up the tent. Hopefully the set up will go well and we will be prepared for the first service on Wednesday night. We will be having service Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and twice on Sunday under the tent. There will be no service under the tent on Saturday night.

We will have NO phone signal in Millry. You will not hear from us by phone or text and we may not even be able to blog. There is no McDonald's to go to for wifi! Pray for Odie. She is already anticipated withdrawals!
