Remembering A Hero

Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking in for Tuesday. Dad asked me to take care of the blog today. I am sorry if you are looking for a Davy Boggs masterpiece.

We are having a great time at Lydia Mountain Chapel this week. God has met us so sweetly in each service. Revival continues tonight and tomorrow night and I am looking forward to what God has planned for those services. It is always wonderful to be with Pastor Eddie Deane and Family!

I have been thinking a lot about Bro. Bill Houston lately. He was one of our dearest friends. We were definitely blessed to have him in our lives. My Dad quotes Bro. Bill almost nightly. He was Papaw Bill to me for most of my life. My human mind still cannot believe Papaw is gone from this earth. He is greatly missed!

Papaw has been enjoying Heaven for several weeks now. I know he is loving being in the presence of God! I can imagine him shouting and rejoicing on streets of gold.

Bro. Bill Houston impacted countless lives. Almost every week someone is talking about something he preached, sang, said or did that influenced them. Bro. Bill Houston was a true Hero of the Faith.

We had church at his homegoing service. It was a true celebration of his life and love for the Lord. I am so glad we were able to be in the service. I hope I never forget that experience. Hundreds of people were able to attend the service and I read that 300 more people listened to the service live online.

Many of you have asked about the funeral. Our home church Dryden Road Pentecostal Church has a Bill Houston Memorial page on their website. You can click here to view the memorial page. You can find several videos of the funeral. You can also find information about ordering Bro. Bill’s singing cd’s by clicking here.

Please continue to keep Sis. Darien Houston in your prayers. I know she appreciates the prayers! Mamaw Darien is a precious saint of God. I cannot imagine everything she has had to face lately. I thank God for standing by her and giving her strength.

Thank you for visiting us today. We appreciate each of you for stopping by. I will close with links to a few older posts we did about Papaw Bill.

Weekend Woundup and Weview 5/14/2018

We sure enjoyed the Friday night service at Bristow Assembly. We had a wonderful crowd and God met with us in the altar service. It was a great ending to the week of revival for Pastor Ken Taylor and his church. They were so good to us all week long and we loved every moment of it.

We have a few pictures from that last night of revival.

We did not have to be in a hurry Saturday at all. The route to Elkton, Virginia is about 82 miles on state highways and about 120 miles on the interstate. We like the drive on the smaller roads and across the mountain but it is quicker (At least in the bus) to take the interstate. It is very scenic on that route as well.

We had no problems on the way over and we arrived about 1:30 Saturday afternoon. Kelly Jo prepared a meal and the girls napped a bit while I worked on sermon stuff. We spent a few hours on book work Saturday evening. That is the only thing that kept it from being a completely restful night.

Sunday morning we preached Mother's Day at Sandy Bottom Holiness Church for Pastor Eddie Deane. We had a marvelous service.

We are preaching this week on the east side of the mountain at the little rock church, Lydia Mountain Chapel. It is an outreach church that the Deanes started about three years ago. We preached the first revival for them in May of 2015. We were blessed of God last time and we are super glad to be back.

Elkton is 12 miles across the mountain and that is where we are parked. Pastor Brent Gabbard is very kind to allow us to park here a week early. It is a beautiful location too. Kelly Jo took these pictures of the BoggsMobile Saturday evening

Please pray that God gives us a mighty move of His Spirit the next three night in the little rock church. I know that He is able and willing to help people right where they need him.

Thank you for reading today.

Mother's Day View Out The Front Window May 13, 2018

Happy Mother's day to all you Mothers. I hope you have a great day filled with faith and family. We need you and your contributions to this sin sick world.

I am sending warm Mother's Day greetings especially to my own Mother Dear, Martha Boggs. Thank you for trying to raise me better even though your pleadings I often denied.

I love you for who you are today. I love you for modeling a Christian life before me. Thank you for pointing, pushing and prodding me in the right direction.

I have said it a hundred times from the pulpit, but it is worth repeating. The most important and lasting thing you ever did for me growing up is taking time to kneel beside my bed and pray every night.

Many countless nights I drifted off to sleep with you praying next to my bed or as you were praying next to the bed of Steve, Theresa or Tommy. I am sure your prayers touched God and your prayers definitely made an unalterable impression on my heart and life. Thank you.

I am thankful for my wife, the Mother of my children, Kelly Jo Boggs. You are incredible! Odie gave you a tribute yesterday, but she can not tell it big enough. You are a terrific Mother, a fantastic wife and ministry partner.

I also want to mention my wife's Mother, Betty Morgan, better known in our family as Gran. You raised a fine young lady, Gran and I love you for it.

This is our view out the front window in Elkton, Virginia this week.

Any way you slice it, that view is beautiful! Wow!

Here are all the links to our posts from the last week. Please take a moment to check them out.

Thank you for dropping by today. I hope you have a blessed Sunday.

The Isaacs in Georgetown, Delaware

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in once again. First I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to all the ladies! I have the World’s Most Awesome Mother. She deserves an extra shout out!

Mom, I love you so much! You are the most amazing person I know. I am so grateful that God gave me you as my mother. He definitely knew the special Mom that I needed. Thank you for always loving me and being my rock. You are the true definition of unselfish love. You have spent most of your life caring for me. I pray I can be like you “When I grow up”! 😀 Happy Mother’s Day!

I also want to wish my grandmother's Happy Mother's Day as well. I love my Mamaw and Gran with all my heart! Thank you for being such a huge part of my life.

The Isaacs

I had a super special treat last Saturday. We were able to spend some time with our family, The Isaacs! This was our third time seeing them this year. We crossed paths with them in Louisiana in January and in Alabama in February. I was ready for another live Isaacs fix.

I had seen this date on their schedule and my parents and I had talked about it a while back. I definitely did not think it would really be doable with our schedule.

I was shocked when Dad said it was a possibility that we could go! Still, I really would not allow myself to get excited just in case things did not work out. My incredible Daddy made it entirely possible.

He definitely deserves a major gold star! ⭐️

Thank you, Dad, for all the extra driving you did.

Crossroads Community Church in Georgetown, Delaware was celebrating their 15th-anniversary last weekend. They brought the Isaacs in for a full concert on Saturday evening and then to sing in their 3 services on Sunday morning.

We arrived Saturday afternoon just as the Isaacs were getting everything set up. We got to enjoy visiting with them and hearing their sound check. It was great to see the whole crew! Aunt Lily, Ben, Sonya, Becky, Mark, Nathan, VeeVee, Levi, Jakobi, Ayden, Gatlyn and Evya we love you all so much!!

7:00 PM was show time. There was a great crowd excited to see the Isaacs. Many in the crowd were seeing the Isaacs sing live for the first time. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the concert.

The whole evening was incredible! I was soaking everything in from the beginning note until the end. It is impossible to pick a favorite song because I was wowed by every song they sang.

I was once again inspired by their amazing talent of singing and making beautiful music. The Isaacs are hands down my favorite group!

They performed songs from several of their projects both old and new. You can find their music on their website here or find them by searching for The Isaacs on iTunes.

The Isaacs have a new album coming out in a few weeks. I found that is available for pre-order on iTunes. You can find it by clicking here. This is a collection of the fan favorites revisited. They picked some great songs and recorded them with a fresh take for this project. I am excited to add this music to my Isaacs catalog.

Thank you for stopping by to visit with us today. Do you have a favorite Isaacs song? Please leave a comment and let me know. Below are my pictures from last Saturday.
