London First Pentecostal - Revival In Pictures

We have had a wonderful time with Pastor Vernon Jarvis and his folks at First Pentecostal in London, Kentucky. The time has flown by but we have enjoyed the services and the fellowship very much. As I said before we had preached here a few times including a Christmas service in 2013 but this was our first revival. It has been our happy privilege to preach revival here this week.

First Pentecostal Church dates back to 1907 so it has been a functioning church for 108 years. Praise God for their long history in London, Kentucky touching many lives and spreading the Gospel faithfully in this city.

It was great to get to know Pastor Jarvis, his wife Sis.Marsha and his folks a little better. We love God's people and it is a blessing to be among them and be loved by them. We were also blessed to have several visitors from the area that we have been friends with for years. You will see several pictures of them below as well.

We traveled last night after church so we hooked up to the trailer Wednesday about noon and then parked the whole rig over to the side so it would be easy to pull out after church.

We loaded up and headed out after the last "Amen." Why the big hurry to leave since our next revival does not start until Sunday in Evansville, Indiana?

The hurry is all about home. London is only 200 miles from home and Acapulco opens at 11:00 AM. That should explain everything!

Our intention when we brought the trailer from Richton, Mississippi a few weeks ago was to drop it at the Lazy OD Ranch this week so it will be in place for our next tent revival. It is nice to be finished pulling it for a while.

We made pretty good time coming home especially considering all of the construction and we were pulling the trailer. We pulled into the Dodds church at 1:10 and dropped the trailer there. I will pull it from Dodds next door to the Ranch today with Dad's truck.

Kelly Jo backed the bus into the barn by 1:40 and I was set up and inside by 1:50. It is nice to be home. In fact, it is nice to have a home to come home to. I think I enjoy that more than I thought I would.

That brings you up to date.

Thanks for reading. I hope you enjoy the Revival In Pictures.

What I Am Reading Lately

What have I been reading lately? I hope it will not surprise you to discover that I have been reading the Bible a lot lately. Not only reading it, but listening to it being read as I read it. I love that. I have been listening to Alexander Scourby read the King James Version on an iPhone app that Bro. Darius Templeton told me about when we were preaching for him in January. I am absolutely loving it and have told several people about it.

In this app you can go directly to the book and chapter you want and listen at regular speed, slow it down or speed it up. I listen most of the time at a slightly increased speed but listening to Scourby read at regular speed is an absolute joy. I listen while I walk. I listen while I am driving long distances and I listen as I read along for my morning devotions.

Alexander Scourby was the first to record the whole Bible. He first recorded it for the American Foundation For the Blind in the early 1950's. It took nearly four years to complete it. He finished it in 1953 and it was known as The Talking Bible. It consisted of 169 records and was over 84 hours long! Wow! What a set of records!

I first bought the Bible on cassette tape in the mid 1980's and it was Alexander Scourby's voice reading the Bible to me. I wore that set out years ago. I have owned other sets since then but nobody could read it like Scourby.

Our friend, Sis. Esther from Boston purchased a set of MP3's for me a few years ago with Scourby reading it. I have listened to that on my computer a lot since then but I could never successfully transfer those files to my iPhone. I mentioned that to Bro Darius and he told me about this app.

Bible KJV (Book and Audio)   - PalReader

I think that link will take you to iTunes. The app is $3.99 for iPhone, iPad and iPod and it is well worth it in my opinion. Several friends and acquaintances have downloaded it and are using it and are very pleased. I think you will like it too.

Think about this. The whole Bible on my iPhone. That is the equivalent of 169 long play record albums on my phone and constantly at my finger tips and my phone has enough room on it for the same information to be on there 12-13 times! Incredible.

The Bible is my life. I happily make my living preaching from the Bible. I must be familiar with it. I  could, should and must know it better. But long before I was a preacher I realized there was life within the pages of the Bible. It is the Word of God. It is powerful. I need to consume the Word of God not so that I can have something to say in the pulpit but I must hunger and thirst after God's Word because my soul needs the life and nourishment it contains.

David said, Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. Psalm 119:11 Oh, God, help me do that! Happy is the Christian that will hide the Word of God in his heart.

Are you consuming the Word of God? Do you struggle as you read it to keep your mind focused? Does that cause you to get discouraged and then feel guilty because you are not reading the Bible? Maybe hearing it spoken while you read it will help you hide its truth deep within your very being.

God bless you all today.

The BoggsMobile In Vonore, Tennessee

We rolled into East Tennessee Luxury Coach on Saturday March 21st for our third visit to Jeff Rowe's shop in Vonore, Tennessee. We were there in March of last year to have a window replaced and back in June to have the air bags, Norgren valves and brake chambers replaced. Mr. Rowe is one of the few people I trust completely with the BoggsMobile and I hope he stays in business for many years.

This visit was made for a few various repairs and maintenance items. The most pesky item was a small but persistent air leak in the front end. Some times when we are parked on a slope I need to raise the front end. If the suspension is leaking, the front end will settle and the nose will be pointing severely downward by morning.

Jeff found the problem was a defective fitting on the driver's side front air bag. It is now holding air and you can see proof in the pictures below where we are parked on quite a slope at First Pentecostal Church in London, Kentucky.

I also needed to have the coolant drained, flushed and refilled. This is more of a maintenance issue and it was time to do it.

While the coolant was drained, they replaced the engine block heater. The old one is below and had shorted out a while back.

Since I replaced the front tires last April and moved the front tires to the back I have been having balancing problems periodically. Some days they ride as smooth as silk and other days it is horrible. With a single tire costing nearly $1000 retail it is important for it to be balanced!

There are at least two predominate ways to balance big tires. They can spin balance them or they can balance them by putting bags of a material (Equal or Counteract) inside the tire the balance it. This is relatively cheap to do while the tires are being installed

Weights get thrown off and then it is costly and time consuming to remove the tires and have them spin balanced again. I have tried this with the bus tires but it seems the good balance never holds for long. I have also tried the Equal. The first time was perfect. This time the tires seemed balanced only part of the time at best.

There is a third way to balance big tires that is gaining ground. There are a couple of companies that are making balancers that slide on over the lugs and balance the whole wheel assembly as it is turning. One of the companies is called Centramatic and I had Jeff put those on the bus. Saturday's ride was smooth as silk but I will report back later on the long term ride.

Here is a picture of one on the tag axle hub.

Jeff also replaced a bushing in the tag axle pivot on each side. I did not get any pictures of the repair but the bushing is inside this assembly.

While I was in Vonore Bro. Scott, Sis. Kim and Rylee Morris stopped in for a quick visit on their way to the mountains. It was great to see them for a few minutes!

Here is another bus getting the airbags changed. I am going to make a set of these ramps for my bus and keep them at the barn. They are as handy as a pocket on a shirt!

You see the brown bus in the back ground of this picture? It is an unusual coach.

It is unusual in the fact that it has a mid door like the BoggsMobile does. Can you spot the mid door in the picture below?

There are VERY FEW mid door Prevosts and it was pretty neat to have them both on the same lot at the same time. This is not the first time however. I spotted this bus at Prevost in Nashville a couple of years ago while we were there.

Another thing Jeff replaced was the mini air bags that place tension on the belts in the engine compartment and a regulator in that system too. These can be a source of persistent leaks and it was good to get these changed out.

Here is a close up.

Kelly Jo and Odie were not with me at the bus during the day because they were at the motel in Oak Ridge. Since Odie was not there she did not get to see Mr. Jeff Rowe until we picked up the bus on Wednesday. She was smiling so big because she loves people that spoil her and take up for her!

I think God brought Jeff Rowe into our lives and we are thankful for it. Nobody said owning and operating a bus would be easy or cheap but having somebody I can trust sure helps a big bunch.

Thanks for reading.
