This Week's House Headlines 5/17/2018

Work on the house is coming right along even with us out gallivanting around the country. Several things have been done and a few different people have been involved, but my Dad (Eugene) has been the driving force. He has been finishing the electrical, opening the house for the plumber, meeting the gutter guys, mowing the grass, moving material and at least one hundred other things.

Speaking of plumbing, it is almost complete. Once the plumber has his final inspection, we can schedule the final house inspection. We are hoping that happens soon.

Dad finished wiring the kitchen. The stove-top, garbage disposal and dishwasher are now ready to go.

The water heater is wired now too, although it is not wired in the picture below.

He also installed the ceiling fans in both bedrooms, the outside receptacles and the motion sensor porch lights.

Kelly Jo's Dad has been there this week caulking and preparing to touch up and finish the paint. We have not made his job easy at all and we appreciate him working hard on the house.

Ken Logel the gutter guy was there Tuesday and they started and finished the gutters and downspouts in less than two hours. That is my kind of work. We went with 6" gutters and Dad says they look great. They sure look good in the pictures.

I will have more to say about the gutter install when I have the facts together.

I am sure there are several other things that have been done that I have forgotten. Thanks to my Dad, everything is rolling on.

Here is the plan for completion. First, we must have the final inspection on the plumbing. Once that is completed, I will schedule the final inspection on the house for the few days we are home.

That is less than two weeks from today. The day or two before inspection we will button up a few loose ends and do our best to be in top shape for inspection.

Some where between today and the next couple of weeks we hope to have the finish dirt work completed too. That will be a huge improvement.

We will be back home for a few days in July and preaching in our home area for two weeks in August. During those visits we will finish a few other nuts and bolts (Closet systems, security and cameras) while moving Odie in as much as possible.

She may not have furniture or all of the appliances at that point, but she will not be staying any way. We have places to go, people to see, songs to sing and sermons to preach during the late summer and fall.

Odie will settle in while we go to Africa and beyond the latter part of November and much of December. She will have time to enjoy her new place to live before she climbs back on the bus in January.

Well, that brings us up to date. Thanks for tuning in to Mile Markers today.

Vintage View Vednesday Sandy Bottom Church July 2009

I appreciate Odie taking care of the Mile Markers post yesterday. I gave her the responsibility at the last minute and she handled it well.

We are having a great revival this week at the rock chapel on the east side of the mountain near Stanardsville, Virginia. The chapel is an outreach of the Sandy Bottom Holiness Church on the west side of the mountain near Elkton. I was digging through the archive and found pictures from our revival at Sandy Bottom in July 2009.

Pastor Buzzy Deane

Pastor Buzzy Deane went to glory last year and he is greatly missed around here. He was a Godly man that loved to worship God and have church. Bro. Buzzy treated everyone with kindness and certainly received us with open arms each time we preached for him.

Heaven is going to be a wonderful place and it will be all that much better because of wonderful saints that are waiting for us.

You come here on Wednesday for the Vintage pictures and we have some for you. It is amazing the difference that nine years can make in people. Wow! These kids have grown up!

I also found some pictures of Dr. Philip Deane and Bro. Eddie Deane installing the floor in the BoggsMobile while we were in revival in 2009. I will try to post them next Wednesday if I do not get distracted with something else.

Thank you all for reading today.

Remembering A Hero

Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking in for Tuesday. Dad asked me to take care of the blog today. I am sorry if you are looking for a Davy Boggs masterpiece.

We are having a great time at Lydia Mountain Chapel this week. God has met us so sweetly in each service. Revival continues tonight and tomorrow night and I am looking forward to what God has planned for those services. It is always wonderful to be with Pastor Eddie Deane and Family!

I have been thinking a lot about Bro. Bill Houston lately. He was one of our dearest friends. We were definitely blessed to have him in our lives. My Dad quotes Bro. Bill almost nightly. He was Papaw Bill to me for most of my life. My human mind still cannot believe Papaw is gone from this earth. He is greatly missed!

Papaw has been enjoying Heaven for several weeks now. I know he is loving being in the presence of God! I can imagine him shouting and rejoicing on streets of gold.

Bro. Bill Houston impacted countless lives. Almost every week someone is talking about something he preached, sang, said or did that influenced them. Bro. Bill Houston was a true Hero of the Faith.

We had church at his homegoing service. It was a true celebration of his life and love for the Lord. I am so glad we were able to be in the service. I hope I never forget that experience. Hundreds of people were able to attend the service and I read that 300 more people listened to the service live online.

Many of you have asked about the funeral. Our home church Dryden Road Pentecostal Church has a Bill Houston Memorial page on their website. You can click here to view the memorial page. You can find several videos of the funeral. You can also find information about ordering Bro. Bill’s singing cd’s by clicking here.

Please continue to keep Sis. Darien Houston in your prayers. I know she appreciates the prayers! Mamaw Darien is a precious saint of God. I cannot imagine everything she has had to face lately. I thank God for standing by her and giving her strength.

Thank you for visiting us today. We appreciate each of you for stopping by. I will close with links to a few older posts we did about Papaw Bill.
