Weekend Woundup and Weview 2/26/2018

The weekend began dreary and rainy weather wise. The weekend closed last night dreary, rainy and COOL, but do not let the weather fool you. The dreary weather could not infect everything. We had a fantastic weekend in spite of the elements.

You can see how it was Friday morning in Louisiana as I hooked up the Green Machine to the BoggsMobile at Bass Pro. I did get a little break in the rain so I did not have to get soaking wet.

Although it rained most of the way to Ellisville, we did have quite a bit of sunshine and even a few miles of dry pavement and a rainbow.

The traffic was constant across I-10 but not super heavy. We turned north on I-59 and about 100 miles later we were pulling into First Assembly in Ellisville, Mississippi.

We were in no hurry to leave Louisiana so it was nearing 4:00 when we arrived at the church. The total trip was only 180 miles. I could do that with my eyes closed and probably have a few times! 😉

I mentioned yesterday that we parked on the north side of the church temporarily. The Wild Game Supper was Friday night and the chefs needed plenty of room to work. The supper is a fund raiser for the Christian School and this is the third time we have been able to attend. We love it!

We took a bunch of pictures and we will post them later in the week if all goes as planned. Here is a sample.

We went to bed Friday night will full stomachs from all of the great food and full hearts from all of the great fellowship!

Odie had a big day planned for Saturday. She was spending the day with Deidre!

Deidre is my niece, my brother Steve's girl, and the next grandchild after Odie in the Boggs family. She married Ben Shoemaker in October and they live about an hour away from here. Deidre drove down and she spent part of the day kicking around Hattiesburg with Odie. We all enjoyed getting to see her. She is a special girl.

While Odie was gallivanting around, Kelly Jo went to do laundry and I carried in and set up the sound equipment. I am pretty sure that KJ was on the bad end of the deal!

Saturday evening Pastor Kenny Morris and Sis. Joan took us to Magee, Mississippi to visit the world famous Berry's Seafood and Catfish House. They have a buffet that is not for the faint of heart! It was fabulous!

Odie picked up a little something on her wheel when she visited the restroom before we left the restaurant. I was singing, "When the ROLL is called up yonder."

We had a great evening with our friends. We went back to the church and worked on our soundcheck while visiting some more. Bro. Kenny and Sis. Joan Morris are great people and we love being with them.

Revival kicked off Sunday with two great services. The youth department prepared lunch Sunday afternoon too.

We had visitors from down near Richton, Mississippi Sunday night. Mike and Penny Hyde came to be in service and we sure do appreciate it. We met them a few years ago in tent revival in Richton and they have visited a few revivals since then. Once they were here, they realized they have connections with folks from the church. It is a small world.

Next, we have a strange item for you.😁

That wraps up our wonderful weekend. Thank you for stopping by to visit us today. Come back and see us real soon.

Our View Out The Front Window February 25, 2018

This was our view out the front door Thursday night at Bass Pro in Denham Springs, Louisiana.

This was our view out the front window.

We parked on the north side of the church when we arrived in Ellisville Friday so as to make room for the Wild Game Supper chefs to work. This was our view Friday night.

We moved into our regular spot Saturday and our view is pretty much the same as below with one exception. This was Mandi Morris waving at the dashcam when we were here last year. Hilarious!

Here are the links to our posts from the last week. Please take a moment to check them out.

Thanks for stopping in today. I hope you have a great Sunday.

An Appetizing App

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from Mississippi. I hope you all have had a good week. This week we immensely enjoyed being with Pastor Don Goodwin and our sweet friends at Beech Creek Assembly. I am thankful that God visited us in revival!

Now we are in Ellisville, Mississippi. I am happy to be here with Pastor Kenny and Sis. Joan Morris. They are some of our special road family! We are anticipating a wonderful time at First Assembly! Revival is scheduled for Sunday-Friday and I invite you to join us in service.

I appreciate that some of you let me know you enjoyed my post last Saturday. Thank you for your feedback! You can click here to view that post. Last Saturday I talked about Hobby Lobby and today we will visit Chic-fil-A

Chic-fil-A is another company built on Christian principles. It is ”My Pleasure,” quoting their employees, to give them my business. My days are always better if they include Chic-fil-A.

When I was a girl our local mall had a Chic-fil-A and it was always fun to visit the restaurant. I still love going to their restaurants across the nation. I wish I knew all the locations that I have visited.

Last year Chick-fil-A celebrated 50 years of business and the company is still expanding. I have had many friends work for this great company through the years and most of them enjoyed the experience very much.

I learned more about the company’s history on the website here. It is nice to read their stories. Some franchisers do really nice things for their local communities and I loved reading it. You can also test your Chick-fil-A knowledge on their website.

Chick-fil-A is known for their fast service and hot food. A few months ago I downloaded the Chic-fil-A app on my phone. The app makes ordering and receiving food even quicker.

I really like this app and I wanted to recommend it to you. It is available in the iTunes App Store here  I am always on the lookout for cool apps and I like getting recommendations from my friends. This app is definitely a keeper for me!

Mom and I have successfully used the app several times. Never once has our order been lost. We have ordered at different locations too, Arizona, Ohio, Alabama and Texas.

How does it work?

You download the free app from the iTunes App Store.

Then open the app and set up your account. You should be automatically logged into your account the next time that you open the app.

Then choose your desired location and pick up preference.

Place your order, select payment type and confirm your order.  Once you have arrived at the location, click I am here and your order will be ready soon.

It is super easy and a great way to avoid the line. This even works if you are dining inside the restaurant. For me it is much easier than navigating the line with a wheelchair!

A nice feature is that I can login a gift card to my account and it will add the balance to my account. It is there for future purchases. I do not have to keep up with the gift card or remember to bring it with me.

I like receiving a random reward from Chic-fil-A. I also get rewards after a certain amount of purchases. Free food is always nice! I have couple rewards waiting for me. I look forward to redeeming them soon.

Well, are you hungry yet? I know that I am craving a Chick-fil-A fix. It is ”My Pleasure” to have you visit with us. I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

I will close with a link to the hilarious song ”God Bless You Chic-fil-A”. You can find it here sang by Christian comedian Tim Hawkins.

Doing The Work of An Evangelist

I told you yesterday that we had a busy, rainy day ahead and I was mostly correct. I should have said busy, mostly rainy, long and warm day, That would have been more accurate. It was 80 degrees while we were traveling. That is what I am talking about!

I knew we had to make some time on the road if we were going to get everything accomplished. We had a late night Wednesday and I had to push myself out of bed Thursday so I could get things popping.

The first thing on the agenda was doing the work of the evangelist. For those of you not up to date on your KJV, you will find the command for Pastors to ...do the work of an evangelist... in II Timothy 4:5.

Paul was instructing Timothy, a Pastor, not to neglect the work of evangelism even though he was the Pastor of a local church. While you are strengthening and encouraging saints, Timothy, do not forget to tell the Gospel story and bring others to Christ. Do the work of an evangelist.

I have jokingly tried to get Pastors to "do my work" for years. When I say "do the work of an evangelist" I am referring to the most dreaded job of an itinerant evangelist that travels in an RV. What is that? Emptying the holding tanks, of course.

Not many Pastors are willing to do the work of an evangelist so I usually have to empty the holding tanks of the BoggsMobile myself!

It had to be completed Thursday morning. I was going to do it Wednesday afternoon but it was raining cats and dogs. It was raining more cats and dogs after church Wednesday night. I know it was because I almost stepped on a poodle!

Thursday morning it had to be done rain or shine. Fortunately we had a little break in the rain about 6:00 AM so out into the dark I went. It took me a while to rig everything up since the drain on the bus was over 20' from the sewer opening. The sun was up by the time I finished and cleaned up. We cranked the bus, hooked up the car and pulled out before 7:30.

Our next stop was a Walmart in Crowley, Louisiana about 191 miles away. I did not get a picture there but I did take a picture out of the bus window before I left a few hours later.

I left the girls with the BoggsMobile and I took the Green Machine about 50 miles straight north to Pine Prairie, Louisiana. We had ordered two dbx equalizers for Bro. Gautreaux's sound system at Christian Tabernacle. I wanted to get those units hooked up for him.

It was good to see Bro. Gautreaux and a few of his folks. A little over three hours after I left, I was back in the bus, with the car hooked up and preparing to leave.

It took us about 2 hours to drive the next 85 miles. The traffic was horrible in Baton Rouge. This is the forth time we have driven through Baton Rouge this year and it has been horrible three of those times!

We had to drive through Baton Rouge anyway but we were not going straight through. We stopped at WalMart and parked the bus while we drove the car a mile or so away to El Magey Mexican Buffet. This was our second visit this year and it was even better than the first! Wow!

Finally we navigated the last 16 miles across Baton Rouge to spend the night again at Bass Pro in Denham Springs. Kelly Jo and Odie took the car ahead to make sure there was a place for us to park before I exited the interstate. KJ took this picture of the BoggsMobile turning into the parking lot.

Those last 16 miles, most of it interstate, took me over 50 minutes to drive. I only drove the bus 290 miles and the car about 85 miles Thursday but we were all beat. It was nearly 11 hours since we had left Livingston, Texas by the time we parked.

I may be getting wimpy in my old age. But we are only 180 miles from Ellisville, Mississippi and we have all day to make the drive. We are looking forward to the Wild Game Supper at First Assembly to support their school. It is always great!

That wraps up our travel day. Thank you for riding along with us.
