BoggsMobile Work Day

We are having great services in Bloomington and we are enjoying our time with Pastor Deatherage, his family and his church. It is always fun getting to know new folks and this time is no exception. We are laughing, crying and rejoicing during service and laughing until we cry during fellowship. Yep, typical revival!

We are looking forward to the rest of the week. Odie is getting lots of pictures too. I will probably post a bunch of them Friday.

Wednesday morning was set aside for bus projects. I have been getting erratic readings on my 12 volt and 24 volt systems while going down the road. After doing some tests, checking some voltage readings manually and asking the experts I came to the conclusion that the actual voltages were correct. That is good news.

If the voltages are correct but the readings and warning lights are still erratic then what is the problem? It must be the monitor itself. That is one of the cheapest things in the system.

Here is the old one.

And $118 later here is the new one.

The new one installed. Probably one of the easiest things I have installed on the BoggsMobile.

The old one was cracked all the way down on the back surface. There is no stress on the monitor when installed so that is a mystery. There is a good chance it is original so maybe it has been cracked for 19-20 years. Who knows?

Then it was time to change the belts. The bus has seven belts and I can change six of them without a wrench since they are kept at proper tension by air pressure. I had installed the newest belts in July of 2011 and the three belts that go to the fan had been on there since June of 2009. The two serpentine belts appeared to be in great shape so I will keep them for spares. The five others were starting to show some stress from age.

Here are some new ones.

A whole set of belts is about $150. I already had a new set as spares so I put five of them on. I will buy some more and keep them as spares.

I did not change the two that look like they need to be changed the most. I could not get the two that go to the Air Conditioner to come off. I could remove them from the pulleys but could not slide them between the main pulley and the engine cradle.

I have changed these belts twice before and the were very easy to remove and install. However I have not changed them since I had the engine cradle changed in 2012. That must have made a difference. The Prevost guys had them off when they did the change so that makes be think that I might be able to cut the old ones off and force the new ones through the small gap between the pulley and the new engine cradle. I am too chicken to cut them off until I get the opinion of some experts.

After I digest some advice from experts  I may try to get them off this morning. I will let you know what I find out. I hope you all are having a great week.

It Is Time To Prepare For Christmas!

It is time to prepare for Christmas.

Why do I say it is time to prepare for Christmas in the middle of October? Well, Odie's birthday is now behind us so it is time to move on to the next big holiday. I am not talking about Halloween or Thanksgiving. I am talking about Christmas. When we lived in a sticks and bricks home as opposed to an RV, Odie always insisted that the Christmas decorations be in place in time for her birthday. Nearly all of Odie's birthday pictures include Christmas decorations. It is true!

We do not have much room for Christmas decorations in the BoggsMobile but Kelly Jo did make sure we had a small tree in place in order for Odie to celebrate her birthday with peace of mind.

I did say small, right?

So with the Christmas tree in place, Odie had a wonderful birthday filled with good food, a great church service and birthday wishes from friends and family from all over the country. Thank you for the texts, calls, emails and comments. You made Odie's birthday special and I appreciate you for it.

Now that we are past her birthday can you believe that Christmas is upon us already? How in the world will we ever be ready for Christmas with just under 2 1/2 months to prepare?  What can we do to get in the Christmas spirit? Lo and Behold we happen to have just the thing you need to put you and your family in the proper Christmas spirit.

We happen to have a few of these CDs left over from last year. Once their gone they are going to be gone forever. (Until I order some more. Lol)

CDs also make great stocking stuffers especially if you have square feet. Go ahead and order several hundred copies for all of your closest friends, neighbors and strangers at Walmart.

The CD's title is He Came - The Gospel of Christmas. We recorded 9 tracks. It has 8 songs and a short gospel sermon. I have described it as a CD with a Christmas theme rather than a pure Christmas CD.

You can listen to some sample clips of He Came and order it HERE. The lyrics and liner notes for this CD and all of our CDs including those that are currently not in print can be found the Our CDs and Lyrics page.

Here is the song list.

(Yes, "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" is on there twice. Once as and instrumental and once with vocals. There is a small story behind that and  I share it on the liner notes. You can access the lyrics and liner notes HERE.)

Happy, Happy Birthday, Odie!

Happy, Happy Birthday to my sweet girl, Odie!

Your mother and I are very proud of you, baby and we love you so very much!

You are an incredible young lady. You have taken the lumps that life has given to you and you have refused to let it make you bitter. You have devoted your life to Christ and His service. You live to sing His praises and to share the message of His Gospel to the world. You are committed to Godliness, purity and holiness. You are a fine Christian woman and we are so proud of you and thankful for you.

I hope you have a wonderful day today on your 29th birthday. I love you more than a hog loves slop!

I was looking back through some pictures through the years and this one taken in 2012 is one of my favorites. It deserves to be posted again.
