Weekend Woundup and Weview #48

We have had a great weekend in Fresno, California. We continued revival all weekend at Souls Harbor Holiness Church with Pastor Anthony Munoz and all of his fine folks. Friday night we had a big crowd with fellowship from several churches.

It was good to see a bunch of old friends. We enjoyed visiting with them and also being in church with them. The service was really good and the altar service was even better.

The altar services were the highlight of each service. I love when God meets with His people as they approach him in response to the Word of the Lord. It does not get much better than that. Saturday night was powerful and we closed revival Sunday night with another good altar service.

The weather was beautiful and sunny Saturday afternoon. After lunch with several of the Munoz family we spent some time with our hosts in their back yard. The Knapp's were very kind to invite us to park here and to take time to show us around their place. May God bless them for their hospitality.

Have you every seen anything like these bears in a back yard?

Awesome!

Please bear with me a few moments while I get my bearings. I can bearly refrain from posting these beary great pictures. I am a little embearassed at my lack of forbearance. I hope it is not unbearable but I do have a tendency to post pictures until they are threadbear.

We hope to have a Revival In Pictures post tomorrow but here are a few of the pictures from the weekend. All these kids sang great Sunday morning!

Have I mentioned that we love Tacos Tijuana? We may or may not have eaten there a few times every day over the weekend, including twice on Sunday!

This is Connie with me in the picture with below.

Sis. Connie is 36 years old, saved, sanctified, Spirit filled, single and searching. She is smart, a hard worker and a really great lady. She is ready to go any where and work in any capacity for the Lord! (I think the list of terrific things you gave me to write was longer, Connie, but I lost it.) 😀

Sorry, Connie. I crack myself up at times! Seriously, we have known Connie since she was a teenager. She really is a fine, Godly young lady.

We have had an awesome time with Bro. Seth and Sis. Celeste's new baby girls. They have three boys already and were surprised when they heard number four was coming. They were really surprised when number four became number four, five and six!

Here is Odie with Kennedy, McKinley and Reagan. Odie, I think you look good with triplets.

And a few more pictures from our last trip to Tacos Tijuana after church Sunday night.

That wraps up our weekend in Fresno, California. Today we begin new adventures in a new place. Thank you for dropping in for a while today.

This is our view out the front door.

Today we have two services planned to finish revival at Souls Harbor Holiness Church in Fresno. The last few days have been wonderful and we are expecting nothing less today. I hope you have a terrific Sunday.

Next, we plan to travel about 200 miles north to preach for Bro. Nate McCoy in Arbuckle, California Tuesday night.

Little Sheriff’s Deputy

Hey Friends, happy Saturday. This is Odie reporting in from California. We are having a fantastic time this week in Fresno with Pastor Anthony Munoz and our friends at Souls Harbor. We are looking forward to three more great services this weekend. Revival is going great and you are invited to join us.

I have a wonderful time everytime we are with the Munoz clan. They have been our friends since I was 7 years old. Most of the Munoz kids that I grew up with are married and now have children of their own. The kids are all so precious and I love that they are my little buddys.

My friends, their parents, have taught them to be my friends too. That is really cool, since I do not get to see them often. I enjoy getting to see my friends and love on their kids any chance I can.

Last Saturday was Veteran’s Day and I wrote this post here saying thank you to our Veterans. Today I wanted to say thank you to our law enforcement.

I remember as a child being afraid when I saw a Policeman at a restaurant. My parents taught me not to be afraid of police officers but to be thankful for them. The police are there to protect us and keep things peaceful.

Thank you for all you do to keep law and order in our country. Your job is definitely not easy or very safe. I am grateful that our nation’s police officers are willing to put their life on the line to ensure we are safe. I know your job is extremely scary to you and your families.

There are lots of times that you do not receive the recognition and support you deserve. I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you! I appreciate your hard work!

This Fox News story a few weeks ago caused me to think about this topic. From the news stories I read, Cohen Chastain loves police officers and wanted to show his respect and admiration for his heroes. Here is a quote from Cohen’s Mother that I read.

“Cohen has always looked up to police officers. He is so sweet and has always had the biggest heart,” said Cohen’s mother, Mandy Brooks Chastain. “He loves superheroes and thinks of police officers as real life superheroes.”

Cohen heard about a local detective in his area that lost her life in the line of duty. He wanted to do something to show is appreciations of his heroes, the police. Three year old Cohen Chastain wore his Policeman costume and stood for two hours saluting police officers at the detective’s funeral.

Cohen’s local Sheriff’s Department took notice of this little guy. They made him a Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy. He even got his own vehicle. He is one cool dude!

Deputy Chastain’s story inspired me to want to say thank you in my own way. I love keeping up with the news and  little nugget of good news like this makes me smile.

I appreciate you stopping by to visit us today. The next time you have a chance to speak to a police officer, take a moment to thank them for their service to the community. Have a great weekend.

Stick Around About 15 Minutes

The weather guessers were predicting 100% chance of rain for several hours Thursday evening in Fresno and Madera. In fact the chances of rain were very high most of the day. It was mostly overcast but we had some brilliant bursts of sunshine.

The 100% rain prediction ended up being a bust. We did get about 6 inches of rain on they way home from church. No, not 6 inches of rain falling at one time, but a few rain drops falling about 6 inches apart!😉

I think they missed that forecast! I suppose the weather is too unpredictable and completely changeable to accurately predict what it will do 15 minutes from now. That reminds me of something Kelly Jo and I have laughed about for years.

We grew up in southern Ohio and heard people make some version of the following statement all our lives.

They would say, "The weather in Ohio is different than any where else in the country. If you don't like the weather here just stick around about 15 minutes and it will change."

We started traveling soon after we were married and found that folks say that every where. After we heard the same exact statement in about 5 different states. it was all we could do to keep from busting out laughing.

After hearing the same thing in about 30 states from people that absolutely believe it only applies to their area, we always chuckle and grin. The weather may be different, but people are the same every where.

The weather guessers are predicting some sunshine today and full sunshine tomorrow. What? You would rather not have sunshine and blue skies? Well, hang around about 15 minutes. Here in California, it will probably change! 😀

Thanks for reading today.

Short Travel Day and Revival at Souls Harbor

Wednesday was a travel day and the first day of revival at Souls Harbor Holiness Church in Fresno, California. We were only traveling about 60 miles so we did not have to be in a rush. I let the girls rest a while in the morning and I worked on a few nagging bus projects and tried to find a few part numbers for another project.

We turned the BoggsMobile around, hooked the car up and left about 11:30. By 1:00 we were pulling into our parking space in Madera.

Through the years of coming to Souls Harbor we have parked in a few different places. We parked our fifth wheel at Pastor Munoz's house in 2005. We crowded their drive with the trailer but it was doable. It was nice being close for lots of fellowship.

One revival we parked the BoggsMobile in an RV park that was very near the church. There were only a few spaces big enough to park it and it was quite a wiggle to get in the space. The convenience in being so close to the church was Very nice.

The last time we had the bus out here while preaching revival at Souls Harbor we parked about 30 miles away at the Riverdale Church. They have a great place to park and we enjoy it. We plan to be there later this trip so parking there this time made good sense.

Then Pastor Munoz told me that one of the men in his church, Russ Knapp, had offered for us to park in his drive with 50 amp electrical service and water close by. Plus, his house is only 15 minutes from the church. That is how we came to be in Madera and it is a great place to park.

Beautiful!

We left for church at 5:30 so that we could arrive early enough to load in some of our sound equipment. Before we loaded in, Bro. Munoz turned on the lights and revealed their newly remodeled church.

It is gorgeous! Our jaws were dropping as we took everything in and we are so happy for the church. I will try to take a bunch of pictures of the remodel as we go.

Service began at 7:00 and the Lord blessed from the word go! God blessed me during one of the songs and I was ready to have church after that! Praise God for His help.

The folks received the preaching well and there was a good response in the altar. We are looking for many more good things in the next four nights.

Bro. Seth and Celeste recently had triplet girls and Wednesday night was the first night they were all able to be in service. That was a real treat for all of us! The girls are precious and beautiful. I am pretty sure you will be seeing a few more pictures of them later in the week.

Oh, and we made our first visit to Tacos Tijuana too! Wow! I love that place.

That wraps up a full day and a wonderful first night of revival. Thank you for reading.

Revival In Pictures - Atwater, California

Five services is not enough with our friends at Amazing Grace Holiness Tabernacle but it is all we could work out this visit. We have loved being here and every service seemed ordained by the Lord to help his children. Praise God for the help of God and praise God for these dear saints.

Pastor Jared Burris and his family and church have been faithful friends for many years. They have been with us through thick and thin and back to thick again! It is always a joy and privilege to spend a few days with them. We love the services, the fellowship and all of the food. May God bless these dear friends.

Bro. Jared and his family are flying to Ohio today to spend Thanksgiving with Sis. Valerie's family. They will also visit our home church and probably see some of our family too. I am glad they are getting to go, but being in California without them is going to feel a little hollow. I am glad we were able to be with them a few days before they left.

We plan to move the BoggsMobile toward Fresno today. I will let you know more about our parking spot once we get settled in. We are planning to begin revival tonight for another set of dear friends at Souls Harbor in Fresno. We are looking forward to it.

This is a Revival In Pictures post so it is time to get to the pictures. These were taken all through the revival at Amazing Grace. I hope you enjoy them.

Thank you for stopping in.
