Travel Days and Revival

We are planning to cover quite a few miles between revivals the next few weeks so we are trying to be as smart as we can be with our travel days. I used to think I was a wimp if I could not drive at least 1000 miles a day! Time has made a change in me and I have to ration my travel days now.

We are trying to travel smarter. We only had about 400 miles between West Plains, Missouri and Wichita, Kansas but decided to take both days to cover the distance. So Monday and Tuesday were both travel days. 

It was beautiful and cool late Monday morning when we pulled out of Junction Hill Church. Sis. Galiher pulled the bus to the edge of the parking lot so I could hook up the Green Machine. I think she has a future in bus driving.

Soon we were ready to go.

We stopped near Carthage, Missouri for a late lunch with Bro. Mitch Boggs Jr. and Bro. Jason Fellers. They were working right next door to a roadside restaurant with lots of parking. We had a good meal and great fellowship! We laughed until we nearly hurt.

11 miles later we stopped at Colaw. It is an RV salvage place and they sell new and used parts. We have been doing business here since 2002 and we love to stop in when we are passing through during business hours. We only found about $90 worth of stuff that we could not live without. That is not too bad for me and Colaw!

We stopped 11 miles later at Flying J in Joplin. We emptied our holding tanks and filled up with diesel. There was no one in line to empty the holding tanks but the fuel line took forever. We were at Flying J over an hour total.

We drove to a rest area north of Cherryvale, Kansas on Hwy 400 and decided to stop for the night. We were only about 125 miles from Wichita but I am trying to pace myself so we stopped.

KJ prepared a little snack before bed time and it was delicious as usual!

We had a peaceful night's rest and Tuesday morning we were off to the races.

We pulled into Bethany Revival Center about 11:30 and hit the ground running. We love parking here. It is a great place with great utility hookups and a beautiful new parking lot. The entrance is wide too. What is not to love?

We set up sound, had a fun sound check and then prepared for service. The first service is critical for the tone of revival most of the time and God helped us all Tuesday night. I am looking for a great week!

That was the end of our two travel days and first night of revival. Pray for me this morning and Thursday morning. I will be preaching at the Sedgwick County jail both days. I have been doing this for years and I always need the Lord to help me. I want to be effective there.

What Is The Cost of Friendship?

What is the cost of friendship? It may seem like friendship is free but it is not. Being a true friend will cost you an investment of time. You will have to invest your emotions and give deeply of yourself if you will ever be a true friend. There is no room for selfishness in sincere friendship.

With a six year old, friendship may cost you even more than that!

This is Odie and Adrianne Galiher last week.

Adrianne is the youngest daughter of Bro. Dwain and Sis. Brenda Galiher. She was six the first time we were here in revival in August 2003. I have always tried to win over the preacher's kids at churches where we preach. 

We arrived on Saturday and by Sunday evening it was plain to see that I was not having much success with Adrianne. 

We were on our way to McDonald's after church the first night and Adrianne was riding with us. She loved Odie like all kids do. I ask Adrianne if she would be my friend for the week. She answered, "No."

Then I asked her if she would be my friend for one dollar. She said, "No, but I would for five dollars."😀

It was hilarious! We arrived at McDonald's and I gave her the five dollars. That was the trick. We were suddenly the best of friends.

Adrianne was my friend during the whole revival without any hesitation or wavering.

At the end of revival, she said the five dollars was used up and she was no longer my friend! She was absolutely serious. We all laughed until we cried!

I have tried to stay paid up since then and our friendship seems to be on fairly solid ground! Although I do not dare ask to how much I owe.

Adrianne is a fine Godly young lady in college now and whatever the cost of her friendship, it is worth it.😀

Weekend Woundup and Weview #43

This Weekend Woundup post has lots of pictures from the last few days of revival, including four services that we enjoyed very, very much. I hope the folks here at Junction Hill enjoyed revival at least half as much as we have. It has been refreshing for me and for our family.

Sis. Galiher is one of the best cooks in the known world (You others know who you are) and we have enjoyed sitting at her table this week.

I took this picture as a memorial to our first visit to Amber's home. It is beautiful and we are so thankful for her.

Who knew that Sis. Galiher is an artist? Raise your hand if you knew. I do not see any hands. Now you know and here is the proof.

She also drives a mean side by side! This thing is fun!

Sis. Brentni drove over from western Kentucky to be with us on Odie's birthday! God bless you Brentni.

We have had visits from several local Pastors and preachers this week but Odie caught Pastor Spurlock in action. He helped me sing a bit during a great service Saturday night.

After church Saturday night, Sis. Galiher presented a homemade Hostess Ding Dong Cake! Trust me, friends, that cake was the real thing!!! Wow!

Sunday was Pastor Appreciation for the Galiher family. They have been here as Pastor over 19 years and God has certainly blessed their ministry. It was a privilege and an honor to be a part of the joyous occasion! The Galihers have had an enormous impact on our family and we love them very much.

Bro. Ray Riggs sent a few pictures from the Pastor Appreciation dinner too.

The service Sunday night was very special. God visited folks during the singing and it transformed into a tremendous altar service. I am constantly amazed at the providence of God! He loves people and goes out of His way to demonstrate it! Praise God!

We enjoyed our time at Junction Hill Pentecostal Church this year and the weekend capped it off in a wonderful way. We are already looking forward to the next time we are blessed to come back.
