Richton, Mississippi - Revival In Pictures

We are getting back into the swing of things on the road. It is nice to settle into a "routine". Part of our routine is the weekly Revival In Pictures post. We love posting pictures from revivals and they have proven to be some of our more popular posts.

It is a small world after all and we often hear from people in far flung places that recognize folks in the pictures. It is interesting to learn of connections between churches and people that we never dreamed about.

The folks here in Richton have been having revival and it has been a joy for us to join in with them. We sure appreciate Pastor Scott Morris and his family and all of his great folks for having us. May God bless them every one.

Without further delay, here is the Revival In Pictures from First Assembly, Richton, Mississippi.

Thanks for reading today.

We love their beautiful church!

It has been quite warm this week.

It felt like 118 in Wilmer where we are going next week.

A House Uncovered

We are fine with not having the house absolutely completed as we leave for this fall and winter revival tour. We knew it would probably come to that if we wished to avoid going into steep debt. In some ways, we are pretty close to wrapping it up. Other than a few big ticket items we are dangerously close.

We wanted to have the doors, windows, roof, soffits and siding completed before leaving. Even though there are people in and out of the house every week, we did not want to leave the house at the mercy of the elements. Once the garage door was in place a few weeks ago, all we lacked to button things up was the siding.

We thought the siding installation was taken care of but hurricane Harvey interfered. Hurricane Harvey in Texas? Yep.

Millions of people have been adversely affected by Harvey. Their lives have been literally turned upside down and many of those cities will require years to recover. The devastation is widespread in the greater Houston area and well beyond.

There is a family that intended to travel to Ohio and put on the Hardie siding as a mission project. They are very well qualified and have installed Hardie for years.

Unfortunately they live and work smack dab in the middle of the area affected by hurricane Harvey. There is no way they will be able to travel to Ohio and put the Hardie siding on the house we are building for Odie to live in.

We absolutely, completely understand the position they are in. We fully expect them to stay in Texas and tend to they own properties, their families, their church, their neighbors, their community and their business.

Do you believe that God knew all about their future needs and responsibilities when they committed to help us "pre" Harvey? I do! And I believe God will bless them for their intention to help even though it is completely out of their hands to do so now.

I ALSO believe that God knew we would be scrambling to find someone to install the siding on this house even though we thought it was a done deal. Nothing surprises God and He has proven that time and time again to us.

I am anxious to get the siding finished before winter weather. I am concerned about it. Yet, I am determined to be patient and wise. We have been waiting and watching and listening.

We very much want the siding installed with professionalism at a reasonable price. I do not want some one's first cousin's brother-in-law's ex-wife's current husband's nephew and his friends that installed siding one time a few years ago and it was something like the siding we have only more complicated.

In other words, why pay for some one to do an incredibly poor job of installing the Hardie when I can do that myself for free?!

The siding, like the roof and several other aspects is critical and must be done correctly. If it is not done correctly, it will be a costly problem that will have to be dealt with later.

Since winter will be here soon, I need to do something. What that something is, I do not know yet. I have confidence I will know soon, though.

Will you help us pray for God's guidance? Thank you. Thanks for reading today too.

Another Letter About The House

A few weeks ago Bro. Scott Morris sent out another letter about the house we are building for Odie.

If you have been following the house progress here, then you probably know most of the news in the letter, but it might be informative to some.

We are very grateful for your ongoing interest and may God bless each of you that have prayed and each individual and church that has helped us make it this far in the building process.

I may write about the house tomorrow too, but I neglected to post this letter when it was mailed and I want to share it with you.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.

Thanks for reading today.

________________

Greetings,

When I last updated you on the house being built for Odie to live in, the footer had just been poured and about 1/3 of the money estimated for the house had been given. We were glorifying God for His help and we are giving Him praise and glory today. We have received nearly 2/3 of the money needed for completion and we are much farther along in the building process.

The block foundation was finished May 9th. The slab was poured May 17th. The walls were framed May 23rd. The trusses were completely set by May 29th. The sheeting was put on the roof and the windows were installed at that time as well. Most everything has went extremely smooth since then and as I write this, the interior walls are being painted, the cabinets are being installed and the exterior siding has been ordered.

You, God’s people, have provided one miracle after another all summer long. There has never been an abundance of money in the house account since the first of June but most everything has been provided when needed through donation of finance, donation of materials and donation of hard labor. It has been amazing to watch the miracles happen. Sis. Odie and Bro. Davy will have more details for you when the house is finished but they have also been posting news and pictures on their website (www.boggsblogs.com)

As with any construction undertaking there have been some aspects that have been shockingly expensive but we are thankful to report that we are at this advanced stage in the project and we have only spent a few thousand more than what has been given. Thank you for that and praise the LORD!

There is a lot of work left and a few costly hurdles to cross before this vision of mine is realized. We must pay for exterior siding that has been ordered, purchase the HVAC units plus the plumbing and electrical items for finishing, buy the counter tops and flooring, pour the concrete porches, sidewalks and driveway and the septic system must be installed. We are believing God for the provision of all of this and more in His time and in His will.

Thank you for all prayers and encouragement. Thank you to those churches and individuals that have been able to contribute time, labor and money. May God bless you for your kindness and generosity. From myself, the preachers that have joined with me and the Boggs family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,
Pastor Scott Morris

Nigerian Church Pictures

Revival at First Assembly in Richton is going well. We had an outstanding service last night! Praise God for His help and grace. I know that a bunch of us are looking for a great move of God tonight and all week long.

I received an email from Bro. Shobanke with more pictures from progress on the church in Abeokuta. This is the church on the site of the Good News Christian School that had to be torn down and replaced. I posted a few pictures a couple of weeks ago but they have completed much more now.

It looks to me that they are very near ready for trusses.

I am happy for them. All the trusses I have seen in Abeokuta are stick built out of sawmill type lumber and I imagine these will be too.

The church is meeting temporarily in one of the school rooms. Bro. Shobanke would love to have the church ready to dedicate by December but they are a long way from having enough financially. We are believing God to supply the funds and we are expecting Bro. Shobanke's faith to become a reality.

I wish I had time to fly over during Christmas week and dedicate the finished building to the work of the Lord! That would be awesome!

Thank you for praying for us and praying for Bro. Shobanke and his folks in Nigeria. May God bless you all.
