#23 Weekend Woundup and Weview

We have had a lot of activity this week but I will stay with the weekend in order to keep it as brief as possible. I will try to post about our days last week in the shop a little later.

This weekend was a busy church weekend. In fact my family heard more preaching from folks besides me than they have heard all year.

Since Bristow Campmeeting begins today, there are a lot of folks coming in from across the country. Some of the churches have special meetings the weekend before Bristow plus there are other campmeetings in the area too.

Friday night we visited the fellowship meeting at Westside Holiness in Claremore, Oklahoma. We love being with Pastor Darrell Meadow and all the fine folks at Claremore. They have been our dear friends for many years and it is always great to visit and worship with them. That seems to be the theme this weekend, visiting and worshiping with dear friends.

Saturday morning we got up early and pointed southwest 155 miles toward Blanchard Campmeeting. We really wanted to be there for the day service and we made it in plenty of time.

We got to hear three preachers Saturday morning and enjoyed a good altar service too. We stayed after service for lunch and visited with a bunch of good friends that we see way too rarely.

We made it back to the bus late Saturday afternoon in time for the girls to get a very small nap. I spent the time working on City Reach correspondence and flyers for City Reach Tulsa and City Reach Oklahoma City.

The House of Prayer had their Homecoming services this weekend and we attended services there Saturday night and Sunday morning. We have had a lot of super great times with Pastor Bill Parks and all of his folks through the years and we loved being with them during Homecoming again.

Bro. JR Alexander was preaching the Homecoming. We loved seeing Bro. JR and Sis. Teresa again. They, like us, are from Dryden Rd but since we both are evangelists, we are rarely in the same place at the same time. We really enjoyed the preaching and the services too.

By Sunday afternoon we had been in 4 services over the weekend and heard six sermons. That should be enough for anyone, right? Well, not for folks that love to go to church.

Sunday night my girls were going to have to hear me preach for our friends at South Mission. Pastor Leon Rich had invited us to be with them and we were very glad to do it. We love these folks too. The service was excellent from the beginning. I was about to preach when Pastor Rich asked me to sing one more song. We sang "Never Would Have Made It". I asked Bro. Dilan Rich to help us and the rest is history.

God touched several folks in a great spontaneous altar service. It was wonderful!

That pretty much wraps up our weekend of church. We plan to move to Kellyville, Oklahoma today so that we can be in position to attend Bristow Campmeting some this week. Thanks for reading.

I will mention this again later but I want to bring you up to date on our location for City Reach Tulsa. We plan to set the tent up at Fred Johnson City Park at the corner of E. 61st and S. Riverside Dr. The parking is at 6000 S. Madison Ave. We will post more details later.

Holiness Heroes: Bro. David and Sis. Ruth Brimm

Hello! It is Odie checking in from Oklahoma. This has been one of those weeks that did not go according to "our" plan but we still had a good week. Who knows what next week will hold? I am looking forward to seeing some friends at Bristow campmeeting this week. 

The month of June arrived this week. The first five months of 2016 have gone by incredibly fast! Every year when June rolls around I start to reflect on many great memories I have of going to youth camp at Shady Springs Youth Camp near Bedford, Indiana.  

My parents went to Shady as counselors several years when I was little. I was aloud to tag along for all or part of the week. I have lots of memories from Shady. I could not wait until I could be a camper at 10 years old.  

Many of my life long friendships started at Shady Springs. As a girl I had no idea that I would look back 20 years later and cherish the beginnings of those friendships. 

My second year as a camper was 1997. I went that year to see friends, make new friends and get the Holy Ghost. I did not plan to come home with head lice! That is a bad camp memory that haunts me even today. But the good memories out weigh the bad. 1997 youth camp was a life changing week for me!

We believe that a person must first be saved by asking Jesus to forgive them of their sins and asking Him to be the Lord of our life. I was saved around 4 or 5 years old. 

John 3:16-17 

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

1 John 1:9

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

I grew in my faith as I grew older. Looking back I see points where I started understanding things more. This is a process that continues today. Around the age of 8 I started asking God for the baptism of the Holy Ghost. 

In the bible in Acts chapter 2 we read of the day of Pentecost. 

Acts 2:1-4

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

We believe this is not only for the saints of the Bible but it is something for believers today to experience. The Holy Ghost is a special gift that is given by God to a saved and purified life.

I had heard about this gift. I had watched others receive the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking in an unknown tongue. My family and friends had told me "it changes your life." I did not understand it all, but I knew the great services at youth camp created a good atmosphere to receive the Holy Ghost.

My prayers were answered on Wednesday night June 11th 1997.  It was an amazing service that I do not want to ever forget. 

The Holy Ghost is a gift that keeps blessing me. He is a comfort and helps me through life. Thank God for filling my life!

The day speaker at Shady Springs for my age group in 1997 was Bro. David and Sis. Ruth Brimm. They had, and still have, a special anointing to minister to young people. Their ministry in the word and music and friendship impacted my life. 

They were there to encourage and pray with me! I know it was their ministry that helped me get in the right place where I could receive the Holy Ghost exactly when I needed Him.

We do not get to see the Brimm's often. I am always glad when our paths cross even for a short visit. Late last year we met up for a quick dinner on a cold afternoon. It was great catching up with my precious friends. 

Sis. Ruth is a gifted singer and songwriter and choir director. I learned a lot of things about singing alto in her choirs. I still sings her songs we learned in camp choirs over the years. 

Bro. David and Sis. Ruth Brimm are incredible people of God. They have encouraged me through changes and hard times in life. We have shared many happy times together. I am thankful that God brought them into my life. I am eternally grateful for the Godly examples they are to me. Bro. David and Sis. Ruth, I love you both so much! Thank you for living a Godly life. I appreciate you for being Holiness Heroes I can look up to. 

For the past several years they have pastored in Granite City, Illinois at Bethel Chapel. They have a wonderful church! If you are ever in the St Louis area I encourage to visit Bethel Chapel. The church is near the Illinois and Missouri border. 

They Brimms also have two wonderful children, Kayla and Nathan. They have been friends of mine for a long time! They are both working in ministry. It is great to see God working through them. Kayla is married to Josh Thomas and Nathan is married to Angela. Both couples have blessed the Brimm family with sweet grandchildren.

City Reach Atwater Summary

I was up early yesterday working on the blog post and thought I published it. For some reason it did not go live until late afternoon. I know that many of you read it early in the morning. HERE is the link to yesterday's post in case you missed it.

Tulsa

Some of you know we have had some serious snags in our City Reach Tulsa location and you have been praying with us. I have been stressing some about it and felt like it was imperative we get here as soon as possible, especially since we had a change in our schedule this week.

We passed up a few places we really needed to stop and neglected a few things we really needed to do, in order to arrive in Tulsa Thursday about noon. I spend the rest of the day smiling and persisting in talking to folks until someone must have lit a fire under the right person.

I received an email from the Program Planner for the Parks department with some good news. I sent a return email to clarify all the details and will go in tomorrow morning to pay for the permit and make sure all is well. With City Reach Tulsa only ten days away, I feel a whole lot better! The location is not a "done deal" yet, but we are close.

I heard from my dear friend Pastor Jared Burris Thursday morning and I want to pass his words along. I had asked him to write a summary of City Reach Atwater so that you could see the results from a Pastor's perspective.

I love City Reach, my family loves City Reach and my board and many of our close friends love City Reach. You hear from us about it until you may be tired of hearing about it. I think it is very important that you get a feel of what the local folks right in the middle of it are thinking and experiencing.

On that note, I turn this over to Pastor Jared Burris, Amazing Grace Holiness Tabernacle.

It is my privilege and such a blessing to be able to write on behalf of City Reach.  When Bro. Davy first spoke to me about what God was leading him to do, I was sold, 100%.  I knew we would support in word and deed, by prayer and giving, but I never imagined that providence would bring the Blue and White Gospel tent to Atwater.  The entire experience has been amazing.  Though we had very limited time to plan and prepare, it became evident that God was working for us.  The city approved our request to be able to use Ralston Park, which is in the center of our city, and across the street from our church. 

To see our church unite behind the vision to take the gospel out of the confines of a building, to reach to the lost, hurting, broken souls of our community was amazing.  Our children were very excited about knocking on doors and passing out flyers. Many of them overcame extreme shyness because they wanted to work for the Lord.  The excitement and enthusiasm was and is contagious. 

The services were great.  Every night God was reaching for people and many responded.  We had first time visitors every night under the tent. Every night but two, we had sinners in the altar. Many came for prayer for healing and deliverance.  Even on the last night, I felt we were still building momentum.  

We made many new friends in our area and it is our desire to be able to minister to them.  Lives were transformed by the power of God.  Our God is still in the business of changing hearts and lives, but He needs a church willing to go out into the highways and compel them. Looking back, I am amazed at what God did. I know that anytime God's people rise up to work and do battle, there will be opposition, that is to be expected, but greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world.

Looking ahead, we have had one family that has started to attend our church as a direct result from City Reach, but we also expect that the Lord of the Harvest will add to and multiply the seed sown and He will enable us to reap that harvest.  

Thank you Bro. Davy, Sis. Kelly, Sis. Odie, and Bro. Jimmie, for your hard work and vision.  Thank you for being our dear friends and for believing in my vision for Amazing Grace.  And most of all, Thank You God for this glorious gospel and the unspeakable gift.

Taking Down The Tent In Ft. Worth

At last we have pictures ready to post from Sunday night when we took the tent down in Ft. Worth. As I mentioned before, it sure did not look like it would be dry enough to get it down but it was. YAY!

Every one jumped right in after church and in just a few minutes the job was completed and we were all feeling better because of it! Every time the tent goes up, I feel great and every time the tent comes down, I feel great again!

It seems I say this every time, but I appreciate folks that love tent revival enough to help us with all the dirty work. All the Ft. Worth folks helped Bro. Jimmie, Kelly Jo and I work and we all smiled while we did it. Thanks much, friends.

Schedule Changes - Sweeny Canceled

I had planned to post pictures of us taking the tent down in Ft. Worth today but that will have to wait until tomorrow. When news breaks we break in. There is a schedule change I need to tell you about today.

Houston and the surrounding area has been pummeled with rain for a couple of months and they have been enduring historic flooding. The rain is pouring again and they are expecting flood waters to rise even higher. Roads are likely to close overnight and throughout the next few days. 

Our revival scheduled to begin tonight is about an hour + south of Houston. Pastor Lamb called yesterday evening to talk about the situation and we ultimately decided it would be best to cancel the revival. Bro. Lamb was afraid if we did make it in, that we might not be able to get back out for a few days.

We hate to miss our friends in Sweeny this time through but we will catch them the next time by God's grace. I wanted to post this news here in case any of our friends were planning to visit us there. As Odie says in the Newsletter, "Our schedule is likely to change, like maybe tomorrow."

We have added some things to the schedule that I would like for you to know about too. As I have already mentioned, putting the tent up in New York City has not come together as hoped but we have been asked to preach an anniversary meeting there in August. Pastor Sunny Philip has invited us to preach August 19-21 in his church in Valley Stream, NY which is on Long Island about 6 miles from where we stayed in Queens. 

We will go to New York from northern Vermont where we are preaching a tent revival for Pastor David DiZazzo in Lowell. The tent revival will be August 12-14 under a tent the church is renting for the occasion. We will provide the sound system and will be singing and preaching each service.

Before Vermont, we will preach a revival at Bethel Revival Center in Everett, Massachusetts which is a suburb of Boston. That revival will be August 3-7.

We are very excited about these meetings. Although we are not able to put the tent up in New York and Boston this year we are thrilled that God has opened these doors for us in these cities. We will do our best to walk through the open doors and preach to all that will hear and encourage all that we can.
