A Super Weekend In Texas

We had a great Sunday at Full Gospel Lighthouse in Sweeny, Texas with Pastor Larry Lamb and all of his fine folks. It was a great start to revival. Both services God met with us in the altar and we sure are thankful for that. We are here for five more nights and we are expecting some great things.

We left Kilgore Thursday in the rain.

We drove about 190 miles to the Flying J in Orange and preached at the House of Prayer near Mauriceville, Texas.

Friday morning we woke up to more rain. I did get to visit with Pastor Mark Compton a little more before we left. My suit coat and Bible were both left behind Thursday night so Friday morning I drove the 9 miles back to the church to get them. I did get to see the new church in the daylight and has some more great fellowship so no harm done.

We drove about 90 minutes in hard driving rain and stopped at an RV Park on the east side of Houston. The girls were able to go up a couple of exits for some retail therapy in the afternoon while I did as much of nothing as I could squeeze in to just a few hours.

We rested as much as we could Saturday morning before driving on to Sweeny. It was cloudy and windy but we had a very little rain at the beginning of the drive and then dry the rest of the way. We have driven is rain so much lately that no rain was a welcome relief. I think this part of Texas was relieved as well. Although they needed rain some parts had received over 3 inches in 48 hours.

We had a hankering for a buffet so Kelly Jo found a Golden Corral about 1.5 miles from the interstate once we were south of Houston. She scoped out the parking on Google maps and it looked like we might be able to squeeze in their lot. It was too crowded to get in but her back up plan worked fine. We parked not too far away and thankfully we did not have to paddle or wade through the swamp.

After the late lunch we only had about 90 minutes or less to drive to Sweeny, Texas. Once we arrived at the church, Kelly Jo backed the BoggsMobile into place and we hit the ground running.

After we carried in and set up the sound equipment I washed 2500 miles of road grime off the BoggsMobile before the sun went down. I do not know if the bus felt any better but getting the bus cleaned up sure made me feel better.

We had prayer meeting Saturday night and then began revival Sunday morning.

We had a young man praying Sunday night. His mother attends the church. Please pray that God will continue to touch and help him and others.

I am sure that we will have more pictures from revival before we leave here. I hope you had a great weekend.

A Bright Future With God Leading The Way

Odie here today wishing you a Happy New Year!!! I hope 2015 is already going good for you. Our year is off to a rollin' start. We were 12 hours into the new year and the BoggsMobile had already found the road. Who knows where the winding road will take us this year but we know that God is in control.

The last 12 years on the road have taught me to sit back and enjoy the ride. Yes, there will be bumps and valleys along the path but I have faith that God is working it all for my spiritual good. He knows what is best for me.

I was reminded early Wednesday morning of one of my favorite scriptures, Jeremiah 29:11.

11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

That is a good reminder for me. I am glad 2014 has ended. I had some scary moments and uncertain times in 2014. I am glad to see it go. But through all the "stuff" of 2014 God was not planning evil for me but peace! He was bringing me to an expected end.

Reading further in Jerimiah 29 I noticed verses 12-13. Those verses remind me that there is also something for me to do to reach the expected end.

12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

I still have some things that are not completely worked out in my life but I am not at the end yet! God is for me. God is thinking peace for me but I have a part to play in reaching the expected end. I must call on God. I must pray. I must seek Him. I must search for Him with all my heart. I am purposed to do that. I am determined to seek after God with all of my heart in 2015.

I want to thank all of you blog readers and close friends. Thank you for always being there for me! I appreciate the prayers that many of you pray for me on a daily basis. We are believing 2015 is the year of my complete miracle.

Thanks for reading while I share my heart today. have a wonderful weekend!

The First Day of 2015

The last day of 2014 did not end for us until about 3:00 AM so the first day of 2015 started a little later than usual. We were a little unsure what we were going to do Thursday because of the weather forecast. We were supposed to drive about 190 miles south to a church near Mauriceville, Texas but the weather guessers were calling for 100% chance of rain/freezing rain in Kilgore with the temps right around freezing.

Around 10:00 AM the temperature moved up to 37-38 even though the high for the day was "guessed" to be 34. That cleared the way for us to hook up and go so that is exactly what we did. Here we are in Kilgore ready to ride. It rained the whole way but thankfully we arrived safe and sound.

We parked at the Flying J on I-10 near Orange, Texas about 4:15 PM. They have a place we could park at the church but with all the rain we were afraid it would be a little soft for the BoggsMobile. We decided the Flying J would be safer.

We were only about 9 miles from the House of Prayer Holiness Church so we left about 7:00 for service. Pastor Mark Compton had invited us to be with them in their midweek service and we were excited to be with them.

We met Bro. Compton and his family several years ago when we were both pastoring churches in Kansas. We have not been able to be with them much through the years but we always seem to pick up right where we left off. It is great to have friends like that. They are super folks.

They are in the process of building a new church so they are having church in the former Sunday school area. They are crowded in but they were ready to have church last night. We had a wonderful service and we enjoyed ourselves so much.

This is one picture of the new church building in progress.

After church we had a wonderful meal and fellowship with the Compton's and a few of the church folks. It was great to visit with friends that we have not been around much in years. We sure appreciate them having us in their church and in their home. It was a blessing to us.

When we got back to the BoggsMobile we had a nice Silver Eagle parked next to us so we were in good company.

I would say over all the new year is off to a pretty good start. I hope yours is going good as well.

We are about 175 miles from our next revival in Sweeny, Texas. We will mosey that way later today by God's grace. Thanks for reading.
