Changes In The Schedule

There have been a few changes in the schedule that I want to point out to folks that might be planning to visit revivals that have been posted on our calendar, in the newsletter or announced at other meetings. It is always a good idea to check our schedule, call or text to make sure something has not changed before driving a long distance.

1. Our revival next week at Faith Tabernacle in Weir, Kansas has been shortened. We were scheduled to be there January 26-31, Sunday through Friday. We will now close on Wednesday the 29th. One of the young men in the church is getting married on Saturday down in Oklahoma and many of the folks will be traveling to the wedding Friday. So the Weir revival will now be January 26-29, Sunday through Wednesday.

2. The second week of February has changed as well. We will be at Hilldale Holiness Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma Monday through Wednesday with Pastor Nathan Conner and his folks. Friday we will be preaching the Sapulpa area Valentine Banquet. It will be held at Kellyville Holiness Church.

3. We have rescheduled our revival in Central City, Kentucky. We had to cancel revival that was scheduled December 29-January 3 due to the funeral services of Bro. Marty Millikin. Pastor Alan Harris was very gracious to us and extended an invitation to stop in for a few nights when ever we could arrange it. We are planning now to be there for three nights April 8-10, Wednesday through Friday.

I am sure there may be other changes throughout the year and you can keep track of them on our calendar.

We are having great services each night at Bristow Holiness Church. We have two nights left before we move onto Kansas. There is no telling what God may do in lives in those two nights. We appreciate you praying for our revivals.

All the lyrics from our CDs are now here on the blog. You will find them on the "Our CDs and Lyrics" tab above. That is also where you can order hundreds of our CDs for all of your closest friends, relatives and neighbors.

Thank you all for reading.

Leaving Heavens throne room, lying now in straw
Like the shepherds and the angels, I stand in Holy awe.
What kind of love is this love that would come so far
And step down into this world to win my hopeless heart.

Chorus:
And I, I could not come to you
There’s nothing I could do to save my life
Till you reached down on that Holy night
When love, love made the first move
It’s so hard to believe that you would come to me
When I could not come to you.

You left shouts of worship and glory shining bright
For the silence and the shadows of a manger meek and mild
You came to bridge the distance, to set the captives free
Like the prophets had promised, you came to rescue me.

God Rest Ye Merry, Gentleman

It is fascinating to notice that the comma after “merry” is often place before, changing the meaning of the sentence. The comma after “merry” indicates the song is for all gentlemen, whether merry or not, with the hope that the good news of Christ’s coming will cause them all to be merry.

God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from satan’s power
When we were gone astray
Oh tiding of comfort and joy

From God our Heavenly Father
The blessed angel came
And unto certain shepherds
Brought tidings of the same
How that in Bethlehem was born
The Son of God by name
Oh tidings of comfort and joy (repeat)

Fear not said the angel
Let nothing you affright
This day is born a Savior
Of the pure virgin bright
To free all those who trust in Him
From satan’s power and might
Oh tidings of comfort and joy (repeat)

And when they came to Bethlehem
Where our dear Savior lay
They found him in the manger
Where oxen feed on hay
His mother Mary kneeled down
And to the Lord did pray
Oh tidings of comfort and joy (repeat)

God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember Christ our Savior
Was born on Christmas day

Until He Came
Carl David Boggs/Kelly Jo Boggs/Odie Podie Music/BMI

Though He had all the power and riches desired
There was yet one position He had not acquired
He was a king with a royal Holy name
But He never a Savior until He came

Chorus:
He was born in a manger
A king without a throne
A resident of paradise but here He had no home
The one who had everything gave it all for me
When He became my Savior
When He met Calvary

A pure spotless lamb that had never known pain
Put on the flesh and blood of a mortal man
The weight of the whole world He bore
Our sacrifice for sin forever more

Long Time Comin’
Jim E. Davis/Eva Wilson/Thomas Peck Music

Year after year the story was told
God would come down to earth
The word was written down by the prophets of old
About a Savior and His birth
Just when they thought He would never come
With salvation in his hand
Peace on earth, good will to men
Was born in Bethlehem

Chorus:
It was a long time comin'
They were believin' in somethin'
It was a long time comin'
They were believin' in something
Somethin' like God is with us, Emmanuel
Messiah has arrived today
It was a long time a comin'
But it was worth the wait

The angel told Mary she would have a child
Now she's rockin' a Holy Cradle
The angel told Joseph what His name would be
Now he's sweepin' a lowly stable
The angel told the shepherds where He would be found
Now they’re telling it everywhere
Glory to God, joy to the world
He’s the answer to our prayer.

Getting Ready For A Baby
Jerry D. Salley/ Sue C. Smith/ Lee Black CCTB Music(ASCAP)/House of Blacks Music (ASCAP)/Lasso The Moon Music (SESAC)/Universal Music- Brentwood Benson Publishing (ASCAP)/Universal Music- Brentwood BensonTunes (SESAC)/

What kind of girl would take on the world
By claiming an angel had come?
What kind of man would still take her hand
Knowing he wasn't the one?
What kind of love, what ever it was
Most people called it crazy.
But it would take that kind of faith
Getting ready for a baby.

What ugly words they must have heard
Whispered as neighbors walked by.
Did they defend the rumors of sin?
I wonder if they even tried.
Could I walk that road?
I'll never know.
The best I can say is maybe.
Were they all by themselves, did they have any help?
Getting ready for a baby.

Then one silent night he changed their lives
Like babies always do.
But Mary and Joseph had no idea
How he would change mine too.
They had the job of cradling God
As he entered this world to save me.
All part of a plan so much more than
Getting ready for a baby.

What kind of love, what ever it was
Someday I'll thank them for facing
All the heartache they knew everything they went through
Getting ready for a baby.

He Came To Me
Squire Parsons Jr./Beulah Music/Admin by Brentwood-Benson Music Publishing, Inc.

The gulf that separated me
From Christ, my Lord
It was so vast the crossing
I could never ford.
From where I was to God’s demand, it seemed so far
I cried, "Dear Lord, I cannot come to where you are."

Chorus:
He came to me
He came to me.
When I could not come to where He was
He came to me.
That's why He died on Calvary
When I could not come to where He was
He came to me.

He came to me
When I was bound in the chains of my sin.
He came to me
When I could find no peace within.
Then He reached down and He drew me gently to His side
Where today in His sweet love I now abide.

Bristow, Oklahoma - Bristow Holiness Church

We have had three good services so far here in Bristow, Oklahoma. As I said earlier, Pastor Douglas Meadow and his church are ready for revival and God has been meeting with his people. We are expecting even more great things from God.

They have been blessed with children here at Bristow and the Booster Band is the proof of it.

Some long time friends visited us Sunday morning and it was so good to see them. Thanks for coming Lance and Margaret.

Travel Day and Stuff

It was an pretty easy travel day on Saturday. It is true that all of the tear down and set up must be completed no matter how short the travel distance but it sure is nice to only drive about 80 miles. The drive from Locust Grove to Bristow leads through Tulsa but traffic was very light the whole way. That was super nice.

We arrived about 2:00 PM and by 6:00 the BoggsMobile and Green Machine were washed, the PA was set up and supper had been served. We enjoyed spending the evening relaxing, reading, talking and going to bed early. It was a great day with lots of sunshine and moderate temperatures.

Sunday services were great here at Bristow. Pastor Douglas Meadow and his church are ready for revival and we are all excited to see what the Lord is going to do for us this week. If Sunday was any indication we are in for a great week. We will try to post some pictures tomorrow.

Here are a few pictures from Friday night fellowship after church with the Iron Post folks and the visitors. We had good food, good fellowship and even a Birthday cake for me. We enjoyed it all. We really appreciate the Pastor Martin and all of his folks for taking such good care of us.

God bless you all.

Happy Birthday Davy

A Post From Odie

January is a month full of birthdays for our family and friends. Happy Birthday to everyone celebrating in January. We love you!!!

January 16th was a special birthday. I want to say Happy Birthday to the best Dad around. I love you "more than a hog loves slop"!!!  Dad says that is a LOT of love.

In July and October Dad often writes big birthday post for Mom and me. His post always leaves me in tears. I am not as good at expressing my feelings in coherent words.

Dad,
I want to say thank you for all you do for us!!! You go above and beyond for our family. You do so much behind the scenes to keep us going. A lot of times I do not express enough gratitude for all your labors.

Thanks for teaching me about God. I appreciate your constant reminder that holiness is right. Your burden for others is something I pray that I have acquired. I love to see you get covered up with the Holy Ghost!!! Thank you for following God's direction for your life. Thanks for teaching me to trust God in every way.  I will forever appreciate your Godly example!!!

Thank you also for sharing your love of food with me. I am so glad you taught me that eating good food is an event to celebrate. I think I may have learned that lesson a little too much!!!!

Once again from the bottom of my heart I love and appreciate you, Daddy. I am so glad you showed me life can always be an exciting adventure.

Forever Daddy's little girl,

Odie
