Travel Day - Washington, Illinois to Atwater, California

Saturday was a long travel day. We loaded up the Green Machine and drove a little over 3 hours to St. Louis. It was an uneventful drive except for some great pictures...

Especially these two below! This is Courtney, Kelly Jo's niece. She woke up after about 90 minutes and said, "I think I went to sleep for a minute." It was hilarious!

I dropped the girls at the airport and drove the Green Machine to its parking spot for the next 10 days. It sure looks awfully lonely there.

We loaded on the plane for Courtney's first flight. After a short layover in Minneapolis we flew to Sacramento, California.

Our first stop in California? In N Out, of course!

We finally arrived at the Burris home in Atwater about 11:30 Saturday night. They were waiting in the driveway when we pulled in. It was so good to be welcomed with open arms by our dear friends.

We had a very full day today (Sunday). I am posting this about 11:00 pacific time Sunday night. I will try to post more about the day and the services sometime on Monday.

God bless you all.

Off to California

Today we leave the BoggsMobile in Illinois and drive to St. Louis in the Green Machine. In St. Louis we will park the car and board a plane for Sacramento, California. Once we land in Sacramento we will stuff everything into a rental car and drive to our friend's house in Atwater, California. It will be a very long day but we are anxious to get to California.

We had no idea how beautiful the weather was going to be here in Illinois when we planned this trip. They have had a very hot summer but this week has been in mid 70s and then 50s at night. That is awesome and it is a little difficult to leave. The valley in California has been oppresively hot but we are still looking forward to going. Thank God for air conditioning and I do not say that flippantly at all.

We plan to preach Sunday through Friday for Pastor Jared Burris and the folks at Amazing Grace and then one service in Avenal, Fresno and Riverdale. It will be a busy week but it has been 20 months since we have been to California so we want to see as many friends as we can. We are expecting some great services too. Pray for us if you think of it.

I am always a little nervous about leaving the BoggsMobile. I do feel better about it when I leave it in Ohio because I know my Dad is close by and that he will watch over it. It needs electrical juice at all times and so many costly things can happen if that is interrupted. Bro. Nathan is here in Ilinois to keep and eye on things. I will do my best to leave it at that.

I often say to Kelly Jo that everything we have, we use for the ministry and it all belongs to God. If God lets something happen to His own stuff then that is his prerogative. He knows what He is doing.

I hope you have a great weekend. By the next time you hear from me we should be in sunny California. Should something happen to us on the way, do not worry about us. We are in the hands of God and that is the safest place I know to be!

God bless,

Davy

Tent Down and Church in Pekin, Illinois

The weather was beautiful Thursday and the tent came down just fine. Everything but the tent was already down and packed away so we took the poles down and set the tent down right away. We were completely finished and everything was strapped down in the trailer in about 35 minutes. I am always glad when it goes well.

Odie snapped a few pictures.

I sure appreciate all of the help. Speaking of help, Pastor Mike Radcliffe and his family from Pekin, Illinois helped us all week. There were there to help set the tent up Saturday, brought folks from their church three services and came back Thursday to help take the tent down.

Since they were such a great blessing to us I could not turn Bro. Mike down when he asked me to preach in his church Thursday night. Not that anyone has to twist my arm to get me to preach. His church is about 30 minutes from Washington so we zipped down there last night and had a great time.

We had a wonderful service. We have known the Radcliffe's for several years and we are always glad to see them. We are used to seeing them in western Kentucky and southern Illinois but they have been pastoring for about 1 1/2 years up here in Pekin. It was great to be with them.

Today is laundry day for the girls and then they will spend the day getting packed. We are supposed to drive to St. Louis tomorrow and fly to California for ten services. We are looking forward to seeing many of our friends while we are there. It should be exciting.

Thanks for reading.
