A Word For Wednesdy - The Sowing And The Reaping

Thank you for dropping in for A Word For Wednesday. May God speak to us and may we receive His Word into our hearts and lives. I am still promoting winning souls and repeating God's Promise To Every Christian. I posted it on our YouTube Channel a few minutes ago.

Psalm 126:5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6 He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Shall doubtless have a harvest! God has promised it! Yet, we must meet the conditions of the promise. Today I am concentrating on The Sowing and The Reaping.

Some people risk everything to win souls, even their very lives! Many modern Christians risk nothing at all in soul winning, because winning souls is something we never even consider doing! God help us to desire to win souls! If you enjoy this, please subscribe, thumbs up the video and share the video with someone.😍
Thank you for stopping by today. May God bless you, help you and strengthen you.

A Word For Wednesday - A Higher Purpose

Today is Wednesday so you know what that usually means on Mile Markers. I am pointing you toward our YouTube channel for A Word For Wednesday that I posted only a few moments ago.

Could the miracles you and I are waiting for be delayed for a higher purpose than we can see or understand at the moment?

The lame man lying at the gate in Acts 3 had a serious problem. I wonder how many times Jesus walked by the lame man and never healed him. The solution to the lame man's problem was postponed over and over again. Until Peter and John passed by and the lame man was healed in the name of Jesus.

This is what happened after he received his miracle. A great controversy arose over this healing and Peter's preaching and five thousand men believed and were saved. The lame man's postponed healing served a higher purpose.

A Word For Wednesday - The Answer Is On The Way

Today is Wednesday so you know what that usually means on Mile Markers. I am pointing you toward our YouTube channel for A Word For Wednesday that I posted only a few moments ago.

Today I am launching from Isaiah 65:24

Are you seeking the face of God? Do you need to hear a word from the Lord? Are you praying diligently for an answer? The Answer Is On The Way!

Oh Yes the answer's on the way this I know
My Jesus said it, I believe it and it's so
Our heavenly Father knows our needs before we pray
And the answer is already on the way.

I often sing the words to that song while I am praying and meditating on God. But I am not just singing a song. I am singing a song that is based on scripture.

Isasaih 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speakingI will hear.

Praise God!

God is aware! Before I ask Him, He has an answer prepared for me! Hallelujah!

Keep asking God, friend! Do not get weary in praying.

Luke 11:9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

The answer is on the way! Thank you for joining us today on Mile Markers.

The Word of God

Pastor Kelly Rogers contacted me Wednesday evening and asked me to fill in for him next door at Dodds Church. Amazingly, I had already purposed in my heart to walk over for the service, so my answer to Pastor Rogers was an easy Yes.😁

I think we had a wonderful service. The only thing that I had on my heart was a subject I have been working on for A Word For Wednesday. I was preparing to record it and I probably still will record it this week. You may be hearing it next Wednesday.

I was not sure if my little homily was fit for a sermon, but after preaching it, last night, I guess it qualifies now. I think I will polish on it and pray over it until it is well baked and ready to go.

I love God's Word and I love how it opens up to us and speaks to us as we need it, when we need it. While I am typing, I am listening to a Bro. Russel McDonald preach at Bristow Camp Meeting Wednesday night.

He is preaching from a scripture that has been a favorite of mine for many years and in many situations. It is speaking wonderful things to my heart and spirit even now.

How does that happen? I know that verse. I have preached it dozens and dozens of times. He is preaching and he is preaching good, but the verse is ringing in my heart and I can not wait to preach it again.

Praise God for His living Word! Hallelujah!

Do you read the Word of God? Do you read the Bible? Do you listen to the Bible? Do you listen to good solid preaching? It is available. The Bible is readily available and preaching is probably more accessible in 2021 than it has ever been.

God's Word is alive. He will speak truth into your life and peace into your storm. His Word will be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path. If we ever needed true and righteous direction, we need it now.

Reach for a Bible. Fall in love with solid Bible preaching. God will change your life through His Word. I believe that with all my heart. My heart is constantly being challenged and changed by the Bible.

Thank you for stopping by today.

A Word For Wednesday Part 2 The Cross And The Memory of Sin

It is unusual for me to post to YouTube three days in a row unless we are in revival, but that is the way it worked out yesterday. I posted Sunday morning's service on Monday evening and a water baptismal service from Sunday afternoon yesterday. I do not want to burn you out.

A Word For Wednesday - Three Ways of Life

I posted A Word For Wednesday a few minutes ago on our YouTube Channel. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Today I am reading and commenting AGAIN from the wonderful book Baskets of Silver by C. Roy Angel. I am retelling his story called Three Ways of LIfe. Listen for the story at the end of the video.

In the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus clearly demonstrates for us, three philosophies of life.

The thieves live by the motto, What Is Thine Is Mine If I Can Get It.

The Levite and the Priest live by the motto, What Is Mine Is Mine If I Can Keep It.

The good Samaritan lives by the motto, What Is Mine Is Thine If You Need It.

I posted A Word For Wednesday a few minutes ago on our YouTube Channel. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Today I am reading and commenting from Baskets of Silver by C. Roy Angel. He wrote several good books and this is one of the choicest ones.

Our A Word For Wednesday concerns the cross pull in the heart of every man. We are like the horse in our story. We can choose to run with the crowd or stay with the master. Man, I love this story!

A Word For Wednesday - Questions For God

I posted A Word For Wednesday a few minutes ago on our YouTube Channel. Please leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Does God get mad when we ask Him questions? I certainly do not believe that He does. God is not scared of our questions. He is not threatened by your questions.

Go ahead and ask Him your respectful questions. He may answer you!

One word of caution. We should be careful not to demand answers from God. Questions? Yes. Demands? No. There may be some answers we are not ready to receive or have no business knowing.

Remember, God is sovereign. We live in a fallen, sinful world. There is an enemy at work. But remember most of all, God wins.

A Word For Wednesday - Ivor Powel Excerpts, The Blood of Christ

A Word For Wednesday is back this week and I hope you enjoy it. You can check it out on our YouTube Channel. The video was scheduled to go live about an hour ago. I will embed it here when I can. Sometimes it takes a while to become available for that process.

This installment finds me reading excerpts from Ivor Powel, Bible Oases about the blood of Christ. He calls it God's greatest provision and man's greatest plea. It is a powerful little homily and I try not to mess it up too much with my own comments.

I enjoy recording A Word For Wednesday and I hope you will share them with friends. It is easy and free to like, share and subscribe on YouTube and all of those things cause our videos to be visible to more people. My prayer is that the right person sees each Word at the right time. Thank you for helping.

Thank you for stopping in here each day to visit us. We love to see you.

What Word?

Sis. Esther Richards sent us a care package that arrived this week. My portion was three bags of Goya green plantain chips. They are one of the few snacks that I can eat. Yay! Thank you, Sis. Esther!

A Word For Wednesday
I did not make time to put together A Word For Wednesday this week. I have at least three recorded, but I am going to save them for later. None of them feel "right" for release at this time.

Maybe  I will have time to record A Thought For Thursday.😂

May God bless you, friends.

Ten Weeks?

Welcome to A Word For Wednesday. You can view this on our YouTube Channel.

Ten weeks. Did you read that right? Ten weeks. Did I figure that right? Ten weeks. Could it really be ten weeks?

Sunday, January 31, the day Odie and I tested positive for COVID and the day we packed up and left Louisiana and headed home. Two full days later, Tuesday, February 2, we arrived home, gently eased down the snow and ice covered driveway and parked the BoggsMobile in the barn.

February 2 was ten weeks ago yesterday, April 13. Wow! Ten weeks! What a wild and wooly ten weeks it has been. Almost nothing has gone according to my plan. I did not plan on being home ten weeks.

We can be in a lot of churches and travel a lot of miles in ten weeks. We had planned to be finishing up in southern California by now and headed up to central California.

My carnal understanding might be tempted to say this is ridiculous, but my carnal understanding is not correct. It is not ridiculous.

God has it all in control! God knows what is going on. He has been near us every day and each moment. He has blessed and helped us tremendously. He knows where we are supposed to be.

We are consistently listening for His direction. We want to be in the center of His will and we are doing our best to walk in His light as He provides the light.

I would love to have a big searchlight that illuminates our future at least six or eight months down the road, but God did not promise that kind of guidance to us. He did promise to lead us, but He did not promise us a crystal ball.

God said that His Word would be a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. A lamp to our feet. A light unto our path. That is not a searchlight, that is a flashlight. God promised enough light for my next step. Hallelujah!

Think about this a moment. Do we really need any more direction than that? He provides enough light for one more step. IF we follow that guidance, ONE STEP AT A TIME, then when we get six or eight months down the road, we will be exactly where God wants us to be!

Are you confused about the future? Are uncertain about your directions? Are you worried that as time unfolds you will not know what to do or how to handle the situations that life brings?

Me too! I have no idea where this roller coaster ends or even if it has an end. It almost feels like a continuous loop. I am completely uncertain as to direction. I really do not know what is ahead and I absolutely do not have a clue what will be going on six months from now.

But I am OK with that. I am perfectly fine with that. I have determined that I do not need a searchlight. God's Word as my flashlight is enough! He is shining the lamp for my feet. He is shining a light on my path.

Listen friend, that is enough! He is showing us where to put our foot down next and that is really all we need! Trust God's Word. Trust God's lamp. Trust God's light. One step at a time, He will lead us through this vale of tears and we will be home!

That is our Word For Wednesday.

Thank you for joining us.

A Word For Wednesday Gospel Snakes

A Word for Wednesday is another old poem/song that was first brought to my attention by Bro. Ralph Cox at Bond Campmeeting in 1989. Odie and Kelly Jo and I have quoted it ever since! It has been a big part of our lives.

Gospel Snakes goes back many decades and I have found several different versions with slightly different words. I have tried to quote it as closely as I can remember Bro. Cox quoting it over 31 years ago in that hot gymnasium as the Holy Ghost moved on Bro. Cox and that great congregation of people.

I recorded this installment and three or four weeks ago before I had the setback in my lungs. I trust that I will be able to begin recording again soon.

I sure hope you enjoy A Word For Wednesday. You can find the video on our YouTube Channel the words are below. Please share the video with friends. Thank you for dropping in.

Gospel Snakes as quoted by Bro. Ralph Cox

In other places listed as The Rattlesnake Poem / The Dutchman's Prayer

Way back in the hills of Ole’ Kentuck
The toughest place that was ever struck
There lived a man named Jacob Job
The meanest on this earthly globe

He feared not God
Nor cared for man
Except his own wild
And wicked clan

He had six boys, both big and bad
Who followed right behind their dad
They drank that wildcat whiskey down
And painted red the country town

There were six girls, big buxom gals
Who danced and capered with their pals
They pranced and trotted on the hills
And sometimes tippled at the stills

One day an awful rattlesnake
Bit the oldest boy, Big Wicked Jake.
Through his veins the virus flew
"He's bound to die, what shall we do?"

So they sent a runner to the town
And hastily fetched the Parson down
A Dutchman of John Wesley's band
As good as any in the land

He prayed a wondrous, curious prayer
With words of faith both rich and rare
And if to heaven it reached or not
On earth it surely hit the spot

Oh God, we thank thee for this snake
That thou has sent to bite ole’ Jake
To fetch him down from his high hoss,
and lead him to the Savior's cross.

We know he never would repent
Until this blessed snake was sent
And now O God the Great I AM
Please send another to bite old Sam

Send chicken snakes to bite the gals
And all their dancing wicked pals
And there's mama Job she needs one too
Perhaps a copperhead will do.

Send the meanest one on the globe
To bite own Daddy Jacob Job

Hurry up these Gospel snakes
And save this ole’ Kentucky State
We ask it all for the Master’s sake

Amen

A Word For Wednesday He Wouldn't Stay Dead

A Word For Wednesday installment today is an old poem on the resurrection of Christ that I have been quoting for over 26 years. I love this! You can see it on our YouTube Channel and read the words below. May God bless you all!

He Wouldn’t Stay Dead
by: Willard G. Thomas

They laid His body in Joseph’s new tomb
And filled His disciples with sorrow and gloom
They did not remember what He had said
That He would die, but He wouldn’t stay dead

Mary came at the break of day
And found the stone was rolled away
She saw an angel and in terror fled
And told His disciples that He didn’t stay dead

In that cold dark tomb, He would not stay
He conquered death and walked away
And now that old grave has lost its fear and dread
He lives again! He wouldn’t stay dead

Full atonement and pardon were made
And forever the sin debt was marked fully paid
The price was His blood as it flowed crimson red
And I’m thankful today that He didn’t stay dead!

Let’s go to our churches and cry aloud
Let’s go to the marketplace and talk to the crowd
Let’s go to the mission fields that lie up ahead
And tell the whole world that He didn’t stay dead!

Because if Jesus Christ had only died
Then the gulf between us and God would still be wide
But thank God He did what He said
He got up out of the ground, He couldn’t stay dead!

Last Stanza by Davy Boggs

Thank you for reading.
