It Is Time To Continue the Circle

Most of Wednesday Kelly Jo worked on getting the bus ready to ride and I worked on the tent trailer, barn stuff and getting the right sound equipment loaded and arranged in the bays. I also loaded a few more needful items in the tent trailer.

We did spend a couple of hours in the afternoon hanging the freshly painted doors in the house and picking up the tools we had dragged out Tuesday and Wednesday.

Dad came to help and Steve dropped by after work too. By the time we finished, the seven pocket doors were in place and the coat closet and bedroom closet doors were hung again too.

These three have worked very diligently on this house! Odie will never be our of ice cream debt.

It Is Time To Continue the Circle

The nation wide circle that we began last Wednesday when we started our journey to northern, Vermont continues today by God's grace. We had intended to swing by and pick up the tent trailer and be gone in hours. Most of you know that Irma changed those plans.

Bro. Scott Morris and I made the decision Saturday to cancel the tent revival and have revival in the church instead. That gave us some time to let the rain from the remnants of the hurricane pass and dissipate. Now we are ready to move.

Even though Richton tent revival is canceled this year, we will pull the trailer on this trip anyway. We need the tent trailer in the south next spring and we had planned to leave it down there after the Richton revival.

There were three other options for taking the trailer, but neither were good.

We could have left it at the ranch now and pulled it all over the south next year until we arrived some where close to our first tent revival and then dropped it. Nope.

We could have left it at the ranch now, missed a few nights of revival in January and pulled the tent trailer where we would need it eventually and added 400 miles of driving. Nope.

We could have left it at the ranch now, closed a revival a few days early in April, drove the BoggsMobile to Ohio to pick up the trailer and added about 1400 miles of driving. NOPE.

That is why we are pulling the tent trailer to Mississippi even though we are not having tent revival next week. It will require KJ to drive the Green Machine behind us, making this a little more complicated trip.

As I sit here early this morning, I wish the tent trailer was already hooked up so I could leave and miss the mess that is Cincinnati traffic. I may have to wait until 8:30 or 9:00 to leave.

We hope to drive as far as Nashville today, take care of some business there and maybe drive a little farther. Please pray for safety on the road and no problems with equipment.

Thank you.

House Update - Painting

I told you yesterday that Kelly Jo's Dad had made a lot of progress on the painting in the house. Wow! It looks so good! Tuesday he put the finish coat on the doors.

There are four 42" pocket doors, three 36" pocket doors, a 36" pre-hung closet door and a set of 48" french doors for a closet. They are ready to be put in place. I hope to do that this morning.

The doors look great. The walls look great. AND the cabinets look super great! As you can see, Odie chose for the upper cabinets to be white, the base cabinets to be gray and the island to be blue.

The wall color is Icicle. It look more blue in some light and more gray in other light. Contrasted with the white ceiling and the cabinets, the wall color looks fantastic. Kelly Jo and Odie have done a fabulous job with design and Danny brought it to life. Odie is going to owe him a bunch of ice cream for life!

He also put a finish coat of white on the corner bench I built in the kitchen as a dining area.

It is really amazing to witness the progress we have made in a few months. We could not have made it to this point without the help of God's people. We thank you for it and we thank God for it.

I hope to work on a few things this morning and then I will turn my attention to preparing to hit the road toward Richton, Mississippi.

Thank you for reading today.

Home, Rested and Ready to Run

We made it back to the Lazy OD Ranch Monday evening and finished a 1,759 mile loop. All day while I was driving I had thoughts of parking the bus when we arrived and throwing myself into a house project until bed time. When I stopped for fuel about 35 miles before home, I changed my mind.

My knees were wobbly and my mind was muddled. Those are sure signs that I am finished for the day and preparing for bed became my first priority.😊

My brother Steve followed the BoggsMobile in the drive in his little red car. He was going to take care of a few things here, so we were able to visit with him for a few minutes. That was a very nice welcome home.

We unhooked the Green Machine, turned the bus around, backed into the barn, looked at the inside of the house, visited with Steve and then I laid down for a three hour nap. When the nap was over, I laid down for the night and slept until about an hour ago. I think I am on a roll!

Speaking of the house, Papaw Danny has been painting while we were gone and it all looks terrific! I will try to post some more pictures this week.

To sum up the quick trip to Vermont, we drove 1759 miles, admired the absolutely beautiful views, visited some old friends, made a bunch of new friends, were blown away by our dear friends the Mayhans from Oklahoma, had four blessed services, heard wonderful testimonies of what God's Word performed in lives and returned home safe and sound. It was a super great weekend!

Oh, and we paid $162.10 for the distinct privilege to drive on I-90 in New York state!

Wow! I guess there was one thing that was not great.

As most of you know, our plan was to swing through here, pick up the tent trailer and leave immediately for Richton, Mississippi. NOT our friend Irma interrupted those plans. She is making here way through our route to Mississippi right now so we will leave in a day or two or three instead. We will keep you posted.

Thanks for stopping in to chat today.

Weekend Woundup and Weview #38

We Will Never Forget

Is it 9/11 one more time already. 16 years have past since 9/11/2001. That is hard to believe. May God help our nation and the world.

Weekend Woundup and Weview #38

Our weekend started Wednesday morning when we left the Lazy OD Ranch and drove about 435 miles to the Flying J near Pembroke, New York. We usually shoot for 500-550 miles each day but the Flying J was strategically placed especially for us and we did not want to seem ungrateful. Plus the RV parking out front was nearly all open. That sealed the deal.

We arrived early enough in the afternoon to take a nap before bedtime and my nap was tremendous. It kind of ruined my sleep that night but I am learning to take sleep when I can get it. I let the girls rest a little Thursday morning and then we hit the road.

The last 140 miles or so to Johnson, Vermont is not interstate, but mostly narrow two lane road. We had already been driving in the rain for quite a while. Another hour of rain, plus hills and curves on two lane roads did me in.

We stopped for the night in a local truck stop in Fair Haven, Vermont. Friday morning we only had about 100 miles to go but it took us 2 1/2 hours to drive it.

We loaded in our equipment, parked the BoggsMobile, completed sound check, ate lunch and were preparing to rest a little before church. About that time some one knocked on the door. Who could that be?

Wow! Is that who I think it is? Yep, that is Bro. Bruce and Sis. Priscilla Mayhan from Pauls Valley, Oklahoma surprising us again! They completely floored me! They are really getting good at this surprise stuff.

And the best part is that their coming was a wonderfully pleasant surprise! What an amazing demonstration of love and commitment to our friendship. We enjoyed spending time with them and being in church with them too. I sure hope God blesses them double and triple for the blessing they have been to us in the past and the blessing they were to us this weekend.

Thank you, dear friends!

KJ took this picture before the service Friday night.

Friday night was a joint community wide prayer night.

Several churches were represented and each pastor was given about 10 minutes to exhort on II Chronicles 7:14 and lead in prayer. We sang the first 20-30 minutes and then sang at the end as well. It was a neat service.

We ate and kicked around with friends for a while Saturday.

I know I say this every time we go to Vermont but this place is gorgeous and every one of you need to go see it! Tell all the Vermonters that we sent you!

Saturday evening was a full fledged concert and we had a great time. Of course you know that I had to preach a little bit.😀

We enjoyed getting to meet Pastor Al Lamos and his family. He opened his pulpit to us and I felt complete liberty working under him. One of the greatest things about our "job" is the people! God has certainly blessed us with knowing wonderful people.

Davy and Pastor Al

We met Bro. Paul and his wife last year during tent revival in Lowell, Vermont. It was wonderful to see them again. May God bless them for their hospitality.

We had two good services Sunday. The first began at 8:30 and the second at 11:00. They had Sunday School in between and a dinner afterward so it was a super great day.

Soon it was time to say goodbye to our old friends and new friends and hit the road. That is always the hardest part.

I would like to be home by tonight, but to do that we had to make some tracks Sunday. The first 140 miles back to the interstate too us 3 over hours with all the small curvy roads. The scenery was beautiful but I had my mind set on driving.

Once I hit the interstate I put the hammer down. We made it about 310 miles and we are parked in a travel plaza some where in New York on the I-90 toll road. We are about 560 miles from the barn so we should be able to finish tonight by God's grace.

That wraps up our weekend. Thank you for reading.

Davy

I am posting the following announcement one more time today in case some one missed it.

As you probably know, NOT my friend Irma is now moving up the west coast of Florida and possibly into the western part of Tennessee. The weather guessers are thinking Irma may park in Tennessee a couple of days and that is the route we need to take to Richton, Mississippi.

Driving the BoggsMobile through a tropical depression with high wind and heavy rains is not on my "to do" list. Adding the tent trailer 13' tall, 24' long and 16,000 lbs made the decision for me and Bro. Scott pretty uncomplicated except for all of the emotion tied up in it.

We love tent revival and we especially love tent revival in Richton, Mississippi. We have had super great tent revivals there in the past and we are expecting to be back there in the future under the Blue and White Gospel Tent. This year looks impossible for the tent but it is out of our hands.

We hope to make it to Richton by next weekend or shortly after. We will have revival in the church if we can make it there.
