A Bad Apple?

It is no secret that we like our iPhones in this family. I traded in my beloved Motorola Razor phone less than one year after the first iPhone hit the market. I had a rocky start with the iPhone. I was pretty much overwhelmed by the smart phone world and I told Kelly Jo to take it back after two days.

She learned how to use it instead of taking it back and then she taught me. That is pretty much the story of our marriage! The rest is history and I have been attached to the iPhone since that day.

Having a smart phone makes life on the road much more convenient and easier to navigate. Taking pictures, communicating with friends and family, taking care of business matters, actually navigating streets, finding locations, looking up information and a thousand other things are all possible because of a little iPhone.

Odie went the touch screen Blackberry direction for her first smart phone for a year or two. She went through four bad phones in one year and then tried an Android for a year.

She finally joined the the iPhone bandwagon and never looked back. Kelly Jo got her first iPhone about a year before Odie and has been using one every since.

In March of 2012 Odie bought each of us an iPad and we have used them a bunch!

I do have one complaint about Apple products. Like a lot of other modern gadgets, it seems that the iPhone has a built in shelf life. It is like some one programs my phone to only last 2 years, 11 months, 23 days, 6 hours and 17 minutes. Then it goes poof!

Either that or there is someone at Apple that randomly pulls up serial numbers of all the multiplied millions of iPhones, iPads and iPods and aimlessly hits the kill switch on two or three different ones every minute. Ouch!

I do not like to change phones. I do not like to upgrade software a couple of times each year and I do not like to upgrade phones every two years. I usually keep a phone until it is so old that it will not run the majority of the apps I need to run.

Are they forcing me into newer, bigger and better phones? I do not know, but we have made too many trips to the Apple hospital lately.

I have had my current phone about 25 months. I had problems with the charging port a month or so ago and had it repaired.

Odie has had her current phone 22 months. She had a broken screen replaced a couple of months ago. Friday night after church at Dryden Rd. Odie's phone died suddenly. She tried all the usual and unusual tricks to get it going but to no avail. Tuesday she had an appointment at the Apple store and they were able to revive it but she did lose all her information.

She had most of her apps and such backed up but she lost all the pictures she had taken Friday at Campmeeting. That was a little disappointing but she is glad the phone is going to live another day.

Kelly's iPad crashed a week or two ago and she took it to the same appointment. Unfortunately the Apple doctor was unsuccessful and the iPad was pronounced dead on arrival. Kelly Jo had tons of songs on her iPad and she did not have them backed up recently. That is bad!😭

Either the clock ran out, an employee hit the kill switch or it was a bad apple!

The jury is still out but I have my suspicions.😊

More Good News - Nigeria

Yesterday I posted a prayer request for my Mother and I appreciate you praying for her. She is doing well and we are very thankful for that. God has helped and is continuing to help her.

More Good News

Today I have two pieces of good news concerning Nigeria. When Bro. Shobanke was here in May, we were able to give a good offering, thanks in large part to Bethany Revival Center in Wichita, Kansas.

In January they gave Boggs Family Ministries a generous offering specifically for projects in Nigeria. I knew the main church in Abeokuta badly needed new windows and I had Bro. Shobanke pull together a price. 

With the Bethany offering and money we had set aside for missions, we were able to give an offering for the school, the church and enough to cover most of the windows and some paint.

In Abeokuta the windows are mostly (Maybe all) custom made. You can not go into a shop and choose from several types of ready made windows. It is not a quick process. The new windows are completed now and the church has been repainted too. Bro. Shobanke sent a couple pictures last week and the church looks great.

I also posted recently about one of Bro. Shobanke's branch churches needing to be torn down and rebuilt. Then I mentioned a few days later that a few folks were asking how to help and that we were going to send some funds to encourage them as much as we could.

We sent a good offering last week toward rebuilding the church and also some funds for buying school supplies. They should have the offerings in their hands by the weekend. The amount is only a small part of what they will need but it is a start. Hallelujah!

They have already begun digging and pouring the footer and will begin laying block soon if they have not already. That is wonderful news for Bro. Shobanke, Pastor Isaiah and that congregation It is wonderful news for me too. It thrills my heart.

Nigeria is like most third world nations, the needs are great. There is no way for us to help every person, build every building, preach to every village, put a Bible in every hand or feed every hungry child. It is a little overwhelming. But if we can help equip Bro. Shobanke and his people to win souls, educate the children and encourage saints along the way, then that is a good place to start.

One person, one family, one ministry, one nation, even a few billionaires can not do all that needs to be done. The physical, emotional and spiritual needs are too great. Since we are overwhelmed with the tremendous need, do we throw up our hands and do nothing? 

A thousand times NO!  

Let us make a difference where we can! What you do for others may be a very small thing in the big picture of the whole world but it will be a huge thing in some person's small corner of the world!

May God help us all to touch some one in a significant way today.

Prayer Request And Good News

Prayer Request

Please pray for my Mother, Martha Boggs. She had a pacemaker put in yesterday evening. She came through the surgery fine and was doing well the last time I talked to Dad about bed time. She will spend a few days in the hospital recovering and receiving treatment for another heart issue. We are asking God to strengthen her quickly and we appreciate you joining with us in praying.

Good News

Do you remember This Post back in July?

Dad's beautiful GMC truck was nearly destroyed when it was brutally attacked by a deer that was thrown into them after hitting an oncoming car. Dad and Mom and the people traveling behind them were all very blessed not to be severely injured. As you can see, the truck was not so fortunate.

It took a while to get the truck in for repairs but he now has the truck back home. The repair shop seems to have done a really professional job and GMC is beautiful once again.



We are juggling things on the house and also trying to get ready to leave on our fall and winter tour. We still have quite a bit to do but it usually all comes together. It might come together at the last minute but at least it gets done.😏
