Ellisville, Mississippi

Sunday was a great day at Ellisville First Assembly. We had two great services and wonderful crowds considering the extenuating circumstances. Two men from the church passed away Friday night and that was a hard blow to the church. One of the men was 96 and has not been able to attend church for many years. We have never met him before.

The second brother was a pillar in the church and his loss is keenly felt by everybody. Bro. Glen Atwood was 81 years old and taught the men's Bible class for many years. He was a father figure to many of the folks and his sudden passing is hard to believe. Bro. Glen was at the wild game supper Friday and I visited with him some that night and I am so glad that I did.

Both funerals are today and Pastor Kenny Morris is preaching both of them. It will be a long day for him and the family and church folks. Please keep them all in your prayers.

Even with all of that, we had wonderful services all day. God was moving in the altars and folks were getting help from the Lord. We always have a great move of God in the altars here and I know it will only get better all week.

Bro. Marty Millikin is having surgery today so do not forget to pray for him.

God bless you all.

Marty Millikin Surgery Prayer Request

I posted earlier today and that post is HERE

Tomorrow morning (Monday, February 25, 2013) is the big day for Bro. Marty Millikin. The doctor plans to go in and "kill" the tumor and the kidney about 7:00 AM and then the surgery to remove it should begin around noon. The surgery is very dangerous since the tumor is surrounding some major blood vessels but it is  a necessary step.

According to the doctors, Bro. Marty can not live without surgery. After the surgery then they will design a plan to deal with the cancer. We are praying for and believing God for a miracle. It would be amazing if that tumor is not as extensive as it appears in the tests or if it turned out not to be cancerous at all. I can imagine God doing either or both of those things or even something we have not thought of. It is all in God's hands.

If you would pray for the whole Millikin family, I know they would appreciate it.

We did as much of nothing as we could squeeze into one day on Saturday. We determined to try to rest some on these days between revivals and I think it is helping. We start revival this morning and I feel as ready to go physically as I have in several weeks. Praise God.

My Dad got a good report from the blood doctor on Friday. The blood levels that were out of line are back down near acceptable range. Praise God for that too. If things continue in the right direction then the doctors may be scheduling surgery again soon. Thank you so much for praying for him.

Please request prayer for Bro. Marty Millikin today at church. His surgery is scheduled for Monday morning. We are believing God for a miracle in his body. We know that God is able to help him.

Saturday night we went to Berry's Seafood in Magee, Mississippi with Pastor Kenny Morris, his wife Sis. Joan, Bro. Scott Morris and his family and several folks from the Ellisville church. It was so wonderful! Bro. Kenny and Sis. Joan took us there last year before revival and we enjoyed it so good we were glad to go back again. Berry's sets out an abundance of fried oysters, shrimp, frog legs, steak, gumbo and so much more. The dessert bar is absolutely huge. I did not have any dessert but everything else was delicious.

I hope you all have a great Sunday in church.
