Vacation Bible School & Pie in the Face

Yesterday was the wrap up of the morning youth services under the tent and the VBS in the church every afternoon. It was all good!

Sis. Sarah Bass and Sis. Abigail Metzger along with their troop of volunteers put on an excellent Vacation Bible School. The kids and adults loved every second of it.

Of course, no VBS or Kids Crusade would be complete without somebody getting a pie in the face. The girls were in the lead right down to the end but the boys won in the end.

Bro. Peter Metzger represented the girls so he was the lucky one! Bro. Caleb Bontrager represented the boys and was the victor but he took a pie in the face anyway. What a good sport!

As you can see the pie had a way of spreading around quite a bit. I even ended up with some overspray and I was standing ten feet away!

God blessed in each morning youth service under the tent. The youth pastor Bro. Nathan Jeffreys preached Monday and Friday. Bro. Caleb Bontrager preached on Tuesday. Bro. Paul Blanton on Wednesday and Bro. Jared Burris on Thursday.

Every message was preached with an obvious burden to help and the youth responded well. The youth group is really doing good and they are hungry for God. That is great to see.

It has really been a great week so far. We have had at least a couple visitors from the community each night and we are thankful for that. We have three more services before we wrap up. Pray that God will give us some more souls in Montana.

I plan to work some today on getting the trailer organized and ready to pack up and ride. But I will mostly stay focused on the service tonight. I need God to help me each and every service.

God bless you all.

Robert Hardy's Seven Days

Charles Sheldon wrote "In His Steps" over one hundred years ago. In that book he coined the phrase "What would Jesus Do?" or WWJD as the fad was a few years ago.

He wanted the church to live with that question hanging at its heart door every moment of every day. The book was a best seller all over the world and still is a big seller.

But "In His Steps" is not Charles Sheldon's best book by a far piece in my opinion. I think I have read every book he wrote and I think he wrote several that were better.

Charles Sheldon pastored a church in Topeka, Kansas. On Sunday nights he would read his books to the congregation one chapter at a time. Afterward the book would be published.

Often newspapers would publish the latest chapter after it had been read in his pulpit. It is my understanding that some technically was overlooked in the weekly publishing of the chapters of "In His Steps."

This caused that particular book to become the domain of any publisher. So this great book was printed by dozens of publishers simultaneously around the world. I am sure it was a publishers dream come true to be able to print a book in great demand and not pay the writer anything. It was probably a nightmare to Mr. Sheldon.

20 years ago I searched long and hard for a couple of Sheldon's rare books. I have spent many hours scanning shelves in used book stores all over the US.

It was a great day when I finally found my very own copies of some of the hardest to find.

The advent of the Internet brought a whole lot of rare books to the market and eventually the prices came down too. A book that took me months to find can be found online in moments, ordered, shipped and received in two days.

And with shipping included the book is still cheaper than it used to be. I am glad for the convenience and the lower prices but it kind of took the fun out of it.

I was telling Bro. Caleb Bontrager about one of my favorite Sheldon books. While we were talking he pulled it up on his phone and found it for free on Kindle.

Wow! That is amazing. A book I searched months for was loaded on my phone in about 60 seconds.

I read it over the next few days and it was just as good as I remember. I heartily recommend it to everyone.

I certainly do not go as far as Christian socialism as Mr. Sheldon did but I know our Christian experience should radically change every area of our lives.

Download "Robert Hardy's Seven Days" from Kindle and let me know what you think.

1967 Mercury Truck

This is cool. A man from the area came to tent revival Wednesday morning driving a 1967 Mercury pick up. It has an automatic transmission, power steering and dual gas tanks.  I didn't even know there was such a thing as a Mercury truck. I found out later today that they were made in Canada from 1946-1968. Pretty neat!  Thanks Mr. Tom Cook for letting me see your truck! Davy

A Few More Pictures From Glacier National Park

We had a great service last night. There was a storm blowing through the area during service so we rolled the side walls down. It did not hinder the service at all! We had church!

We can not wait to see what is in store for us today under the blue and white gospel tent! There is no telling what the Lord may do.

Today I am posting a few pictures from Kelly Jo's camera in Glacier National Park. I hope you enjoy.

Great Start to Tent Revival

The Tent Revival at Sun Valley Church near Florence, Montana is off to a good start. We have had visitors each night and God has been moving in the altars each service.

The church is having youth service under the tent Monday through Friday. The youth pastor, Bro. Nathan Jeffreys preached on Monday and Bro. Caleb Bontrager preached today. Both of them preached outstanding.

I think Bro. Paul Blanton is scheduled to preach tomorrow and Bro. Jared Burris is supposes to preach on Thursday.

The church is also serving lunch everyday around 12 and having Vacation Bible School in the church at 2 in the afternoon. We are staying busy and having a blast.

It is great having guests from out of state for the tent revival. I mentioned the Blantons from Indiana and the Burris family from California. We also have the Longs, Farmers and Radcliffes from around Tulsa, Oklahoma.

(Bro. Long and Bro. Farmer went for a drive about daylight this morning and saw a moose a few miles from their campground.)

All of these folks have been such a blessing to the meeting. They have drove long distances and spent a lot of money to support this meeting and I appreciate it so much.

I have been praying that God saturates them all with blessings while they are here. I believe He has been doing that already! Praise God.

Pastor Metzger and his wonderful folks have worked and are working so hard for this revival. It is so good to see the Lord blessing them in return. They are responding in the services and God is helping.

As I said before, we have had visitors each night and we are very thankful for that. Two young people have been saved from the neighborhood. Praise God!

We are looking for and expecting God to save many more this week. I want families added to the kingdom of God and to this church.

Please keep praying for that. I appreciate all of you that have let us know you are praying.

I told you we are having a blast. Here is Odie pushing Bro. Gary Lockwood on the tire swing. That was funny!

God bless you all.
