Odie's Spilled Salsa Saga

Hey Friends,

It is so good to meet up with you again! How was your week? We are doing well. We are living life one day at a time in Fouke, Arkansas this week.

Spilled Salsa Saga

We are rewinding to December 2019 for today's story. I think that I am recovered enough from this traumatic event that I can share it with you.

In December we were invited to visit the house of our dear friends, Bro. Jeff and Sis. Debbie Roberts. I decided to take a quart of salsa to contribute to the evening.

Now, this was not just any salsa, it was a full quart of our beloved Alcapulco salsa. You all know this salsa is liquid gold at our house. I brought the salsa home from the restaurant and transferred to a better bowl. We were going to church and then on to our friend's house.

When it came time for us to leave, I was rushing out the door. I was driving my power chair to the car, but I was also carrying my purse, phone and bowl of salsa. I was trying to carry too much stuff and drive. This is a common miscalculation of mine.

This time, it had horrible results. I intended to hand the bowl of salsa to my Mom, but I dropped it instead. The lid came off the bowl and salsa exploded. It was all over my laundry room!

Mom and I both were in shock. We froze and did not know what to do. Salsa was everywhere, more than anywhere else. It was on my coat and clothes and covering the room. We forgot to get pictures of the mess.

I wanted to sit down and cry, but there was not any time for a good cry. Dad was preaching revival at our home church and we could no be late. Mom, Uncle Steve and Dad grabbed towels and started trying to clean up the major parts of the spill. I appreciate their help! We had to leave the rest of it to clean up later.

At church, I told Sis. Debbie Roberts, what had transpired. She was heartbroken too. Sis. Debbie said she was hoping that we would bring Alcapulco salsa. It is the thought that counted right?

We went on with our evening and had a great time with friends. I had to tell the story several times. I will never live down the spilled salsa. I just had to laugh and learn from my mistake. You can see pictures from that night by clicking here.

It was close to 1 AM when we arrived back at the house. I worked for almost two hours getting salsa out of little crevices. I shed my tears at this point. I was sick of smelling salsa by the time I was done cleaning up.

I recently received a text from a friend to let me know that I was being thought about. He had dropped a jar of salsa in their kitchen. They now had had salsa and glass everywhere! I could commiserate with them! I know first hand that it is a devastating mishap.

I am so glad that my bowl was not glass! The bowl survived the fall. I definitely learned that the lids do not prevent spills. Those particular lids do pop off when the bowl is dropped. Here is a link to my bowls. They are from Sam's Club and I actually really like them.

I had never cried over spilled salsa before last December. Now I handle salsa with gentle care. Spilled salsa is not an experience that I desire to repeat!

Have you had any traumatizing spills? Leave a comment and share your stories with me. We can support each other through the pain of spills.

Thanks for reading. I hope you have a good weekend.

A Scary Birthday Cake

Hey Friends,

Happy Saturday, I hope you are doing well. Thanks for stopping by to visit with me. We are making tracks from Mississippi to Kentucky today and we should be well on our way by the time you read this, hopefully!

The Scary Birthday Cake
Today lets stroll down my memory lane again. This one is going back to my second birthday. That was more than a few years ago.

I was terrified of my birthday cake! The cake was made to look like a Pound Puppy. The pictures and video footage that I remember seeing were hilarious. It really was a cute cake. Do you remember Pound Puppies? Here is a picture that I found online.

Pound Puppies Classic 80's Collection - Dark Brown : Target

There is absolutely nothing scary about a harmless Pound Puppy! He is actually cute. Any normal two year old would have loved a puppy cake. In case you do not know me yet, I am not normal.

I would not have a thing to do with the cake. I did not want to touch it or be near it at all! I must have thought the puppy was going to lick me, bite me or chase me. I just laugh when I think of my silliness today, but I was completely scared of that cake.

Real Fear
I am still terrified of dogs in my thirties! The size of the dog does not matter, big or small, I am not a fan. My fear comes from not being able to get away from them. I can not run if I need to run. It is a fear that I have to face very often. I have found that dogs are extremely fond of girls in wheelchairs. The dog's fondness for me and my fear do not mix well together.

Last week we were at a church with a friendly neighborhood dog. He loved on everyone and everyone loved on him. I was outside in my chair and he literally went for my lap! It scared the daylights out of me!😁

Here is another story that my parents have told me about. It also demonstrates my fear of dogs. This happened when I was very little too. We were visiting a friend's home. Somebody opened the door and our friend's big dog ran inside.

Do you remember that I am immobile and I am terrified of dogs? Those two things were against me at that moment. I was sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor. Dad tells me that my fear was so strong that I stood straight up to my feet, without assistance, before they could get to me.

I am amazed by this story. I can not go from sitting to standing in the middle of the floor on my own. I wonder if I could have run, from that dog, because of my adrenaline rush? I am glad that my parents rescued me, but I would like to know what would have happened.

Have you ever had to overcome any fears? Do you have any childhood fears, that are now funny? I would like to hear your stories if you are comfortable telling them.

Thanks for reading. I hope you have a great weekend.

Odie's Face Shield Blunder

Hey Friends,

Welcome to another Saturday post written by Odie. I hope you are ready for a little laughter. I have a funny story to share with you.

In 2020 the top fashion accessory has become our mask and protective equipment. We are doing our best to keep ourselves and others protected. I have slowly been adding to my PPE collection. I wanted different options to choose from.

One of my latest additions is a face shield that I wear in stores in addition to my mask. I like having the added safety. Mom has had a face shield for a while and I wanted to be cool like my Mom. 😆

The first day that I wore my face shield into a store it was a horrible struggle! I could not see clearly at all. It was aggravating and it was hard to read anything. I was thinking, "so much for a cheap face shield". I did feel better protected so I continue to use it, but I determined that I was not going to recommend this product to anyone else.

On the second outing that I used my face shield, Mom picked it up for a moment. She said did you take the protective plastic cover off of your shield? I was like what are you talking about? I was not aware of the covering, so no I had not removed it!

Upon further investigation, both sides of my shield had a layer of the plastic. I felt so dumb! All I could do was laugh! This is another classic Odie story for the books.

Mom removed the plastic for me. Now I can see clearly through my shield! I really like it now. You live and learn, right? Well, now I know! I wish that I had a before picture for you, but I do have an after picture. It is so clear now, it is easy to forget that I have it on and I may find myself cramming food into it!

Click here to see the information on this particular shield. Here a little info that you might want, it took a couple weeks for them to come in.  This was a five-pack and I gave my other shields to family members. I now recommend this product to others.

I hope my face shield blunder brightened your day! If you own a face shield, check it for a removable plastic covering.

I will close for now. Thanks for reading. I hope you have a great weekend.

Cinco de Mayo, May 5

Praise God for His help in the revival service last night. For a few nights, I am preaching from the theme in Esther 4, For Such A Time As This. Last night I preached on The Providence of God At Work.

Today is one of my favorite holidays. This is a picture of me preparing to celebrate last year.

Thank you for spending a few minutes for us today.

It Is Sunday Morning!

Our view has not changed this week so no pictures, but I do have the video from revival last night.

God Is Faithful

Sunday Morning Sanity
There are two important things to remember about celery.
Number One: Celery is 95% water.
Number Two: Celery is 100% NOT pizza!

Have a super great Sunday.

View Out The Window 4/26/2020

We have had a change of view. The BoggsMobile is now outside the barn so this is our view out the front window now.

I have something else to share with you today. I meant to show you this earlier, but it must have escaped me. This is one of the funniest things I have seen in a week or two.

Bahahahahaha! I resemble that remark.

Last Night's revival service

Praise God for Sunday! I hope you have a great Lord's day. Thank you for spending a few minutes of it with us.

Boring? What Is That?

I have never really understood the concept of bored or boring. I am completely OK with doing Nothing at times. I do not need to be busy every moment or have my mind or body jumping from one task to the next continually. I do not get bored.

Evidently, every person is wired up differently and that is probably a good thing.

I remember the first time I heard the word bored. We were kids and visiting friends with our Dad and Mom. All of us kids were playing baseball in the yard. A neighbor girl was playing too and after playing a while she said, "I'm bored." I suppose I learned the meaning of bored by the context, because soon she walked off the base and went home.

That did not make sense to me at all. Who in the world ever got bored playing baseball?

I have had that thought lots of times in 40+ years since then. How can you be bored? There is so much to think about. There is so much to read. There is so much that needs to be done. Plus, when there is nothing to do, nothing to read and nothing to think about, doing nothing is fine. Bored?

Needless to say, we never get bored out here on the road. There is always something to do, something to talk about, something to listen to and definitely always something to see!

We were driving about two weeks ago and came on a U-Haul trailer being pulled. We could see from the distance in the rain that something was weird or interesting about it.

Yep, weird AND interesting. Look at the advertising on the back door of the trailer. Can you see it?

It says, "Holds Queen Size Bed."

Now look on top of the trailer. What is on top? It is a queen size bed! Yep, it fits perfectly!

It looks like the people that rented the trailer, believed the advertising. "Hey, Bubba, what are we gonna do with the mattress, the trailer is full?" "Well, the writing says it holds a queen size bed, throw the mattress up on top and strap her down!"

KJo and I probably laughed for twenty minutes after we passed that! Nope, it is never boring out here, that is for sure!

Thank you for reading today.

The Blind Nut Finally Gets A Squirrel

Have you ever hear the idiom "Even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while"? The expression means that even if people are ineffective or limited in some way, they can still stumble onto success from time to time.

I butchered that expression once from the pulpit. I was introducing a preacher that was always telling us that he could not preach and that he would not be very interesting. I said, "I know Bro. (Insert name here) is going to tell us that he can not preach, but even a blind nut gets a squirrel once in a while." I did not even catch that I had transposed the nut and the squirrel. 😀

To this day, no one remembers what he preached, but they remember me tripping over my idioms and freefalling face first into my catchy phrase.

To prove the saying true, and you can choose which one, even with all of my stumbling and bumbling, I definitely made a correct decision this past weekend.

Since we were closing revival Sunday at Claremore, we were committed to preaching Monday and Tuesday and possibly Wednesday for Pastor Jason Fellers in Weir, Kansas. We were looking forward to being with our friends in Weir.

Saturday afternoon, the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center raised the severe weather threat level to its second highest level for Monday. They were very confident of severe weather affecting Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas that would include hail, heavy rain, flooding, high winds and tornadoes.

I sent the link to Bro. Fellers and told him I was considering fleeing the wrath to come and he gave me permission to do so. By Sunday night, the forecast was shaping up to be correct and some of the Claremore folks were getting alerts on their phones. We decided to saturate Oklahoma and Kansas with our absence.

By 10:30 PM Sunday night we were gone from Claremore and driving northeast. It turned out that I was right. Although the church in Weir did not receive any damage, the little town of Weir took at least a glancing blow from a tornado. That is way too close for comfort!

It was a horrible afternoon, evening and night for many thousands of people in the southern and central plains. We were completely correct in missing that party. By the time the bad weather descended in northeast Oklahoma and southeast Kansas I was hundreds of miles away sweeping across beautiful Indiana with sunny skies above.

Yep, even a blind nut gets a squirrel once in a while. Picture proof below.

Wednesday night there was another swarm of tornadoes in the same area and lots and lots of flooding. I have not heard this morning if there was any damage in Claremore or Weir from all of that. We are very thankful to have made the decision to vacate. That's why God put wheels on buses! Thank you for reading.

Cinco de Mayo

Sometimes we interrupt our normal programming in order to make an announcement or recognize a holiday. That is what I am doing today. I have allowed this holiday to pass without recognition for too long.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Kids Free Egg Hunt! Wait What?

Yesterday I posted this picture that I snapped while waiting at a red light in northern Kentucky.

Originally I stated here on the blog that turkey season was not in, but on further review, turkey season started on Saturday in Kentucky! This guy got a nice big turkey on the first day of the season!😀

Kids Free Egg Hunt. Wait! What?
Easter is a big deal at most churches. It should be. The resurrection of our Lord from the dead is the foundation of Christianity. Paul said, And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. I Corinthians 15:17

The resurrection of Christ should be preached, taught and shouted from the rooftops all year long. Dedicating one Sunday a year worldwide to the proclamation of that central truth is the very least we can do as Christians, as Preachers and as churches.

I know a good many folks that are not comfortable with calling the day by the name "Easter". That is OK, I get it. But they all celebrate Resurrection Sunday with us when we remember and proclaim afresh that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, conquered death three days after He was crucified and buried! It really should be a big deal.

We all know that the resurrection of Christ from the dead, victorious over death, hell and the grave has nothing to do with eggs and rabbits, right? Yet many churches host egg hunts for the kids. I do not particularly love the tradition, but I do not automatically hate on it either.

Then I found this. It is confusing.

It is an advertisement for a Kids Free Egg Hunt.

It does not say Kid's Free Egg Hunt or Free Egg Hunt for Kids. It says Kids Free Egg Hunt, like parents having a Kids Free Weekend or a Kids Free Date Night.😉😉

Kids Free-No Kids Allowed.

I suppose that means no brats running around picking up the eggs before the adults can bend over to the ground. That can be annoying. We must eliminate the short competition.😆

I guess I understand the concept, but I thought Easter Egg hunts were all about the kids. That is why I do not hate on egg hunts, because it is for the kids. IF adults are now having egg hunts exclusively for them, I may have to rethink my position.😏

They do advertise Street Tacos so that is definitely one redeeming factor.

It Takes A Toll

We are extremely grateful that Pastor Larry Lamb and his church in Sweeny had evangelist quarters available for us to stay in during revival while the BoggsMoble was in the shop. It was a huge blessing to us and a great savings to us as well.

We stayed there for 12 nights. That would have translated to over $1000 in motels easily. Thank you, Bro. Lamb and Full Gospel Lighthouse.

Staying in Sweeny and preaching revival put us 80 miles from the bus at Prevost Houston. I drove that round trip in the Green Machine 8 times in 13 days. That was quite a little commute. In the mid nineties, I worked in construction in the Cincinnati area and drove one hour each way most of the time. I do not miss that.

The 80 mile commute back and forth to the bus varied in time tremendously according to the time of day. Rush hour traffic in Houston can grind to a halt and I learned to respect it quickly. I drove that 80 miles in as little as 1 hour and 19 minutes and as much as 2 hours and 30 minutes! If I left at 5:00 AM, fine. If I left at 5:20 AM, Whoa!

Beginning in Sweeny I had about 40 miles of two lane state highways. Then I joined the interstate for about 17 miles with the first 7 miles under construction. After that was 20 miles of the Sam Houston Tollway and a few more miles of surface streets to Prevost and the BoggsMobile.

On 20 miles of Sam Houston Tollway I had to go through 3 toll gates and pay cash. The first 2 gates were $1.75 each and the last one was $1.25. That is $4.75 for 20 miles of highway. In contrast, the Turner and Will Rogers Turnpikes in Oklahoma are about $4 for 80-100 miles. I thought that was steep. Apparently not steep enough for Texas!

I made that round trip 8 times at $9.50 each trip. That is 320 miles of the tollway for $76 just for the tollway section of the drive. Thank God that the other 320 miles of roads only cost me gas money!

We took the bus on the tollway for a short section during the test drive and that cost $3.50. Then as we departed Houston we paid $7.00 at another gate with the bus and car hooked together. Get this, the charge is $3.50 for the 3 axle bus and $1.75 for the 2 axle car. Hook them together and the charge is $7.00 for the 5 axle rig. Do the math. Rigged is exactly what that is.😇

The kicker is the sign we came to next. "EZ Tag only, No cash." What? I am on the road with a 65' rig and I have about 10 seconds to decide if I should stay on the tollway or take a city exit into an unknown maze of city streets.

I stayed on the road, looked up the number to Harris County Toll Road Authority that owns the tollway and the conversation went like this.

Harris County: Hello Harris County Toll Road Authority.

Davy: Hello, Mam, this is Davy Boggs. I am from out of the Houston area and I am driving the Sam Houston Tollway. The last two weeks I have been driving the northwest section of the tollway and have been stopping every few miles to pay the tolls in cash. I am now leaving Houston driving south in a 65' rig on the northeast section. I just came to a sign saying, "EZ Tag only, No cash." There is no way for me to exit the road and I would like to know what I can do.

Harris County: Sir, you need an EZ Tag.

Davy: Mam, I am from out of town and I do not have an EZ Tag. I have an Oklahoma Pike Pass, but that does not work on the Sam Houston. I would like to pay this toll. Can you help me or direct me to the right number?

Harris County: That is right, Sir, the Pike Pass will not work. You need an EZ Tag. That is the only way to drive the Sam Houston.

Davy: Mam, I just came through a gate and paid cash. I was expecting to pay cash for the rest of the way. I am just visiting Houston and I do not have an EZ Tag, what can I do to pay this toll. I do not want to receive a ticket in the mail, so I am trying to be proactive and find out what I need to do.

Harris County: You will have to call the Harris County Toll Road Authority and pay the toll.

Davy: I am sorry, I thought that was the number I called. Can you give me that number?

Harris County: Yes, Sir, you are correct, this is the Harris County Toll Road Authority.

Davy: Great, I am from out of town and have driven in a 65' rig onto a section of the Sam Houston Tollway that accepts only EZ Tag and does not accept cash. I would like to find out how to pay the toll today.

Harris County: Sir, you will have to call the Harris County Toll Road Authority.

Davy: I thought I was talking to the Harris County Toll Road Authority.

Harris County: You are, but you will have to call back.

Davy: Why?

Harris County: It will take a few days for your toll to show up in our system. Call back each day until it shows up, but if you wait more than a week there will be an additional penalty OR if you go through more than 3 toll readers without an EZ Tag you will be charged an additional $11 per toll. Sir, it would be easier if you would purchase an EZ Tag, they can be purchased at ......

Davy: Can you maybe make a note of my call so that I am not charged a penalty. There was no way for me to avoid this road and I  would really like to pay the toll.

Harris County: Yes, the best way is to purchase EZ Tag before you drive on the Sam Houston, they can be purchased online or ......

Davy: Thank you, mam

Blah, blah, blah, blah and blah.

It really does take a toll.

Thank you for reading.

The BoggsMobile Has Gossypiboma

There was an interesting development with the bus on Friday.
1995 Prevost XL Fuel Injector Wiring Harness
The mechanic had just removed the valve cover and he was shining his light down in amongst the valves. I was standing on the opposite side of the engine when I heard him say excitedly, "Oh No! Look at that!" Trust me, those are not the words you want to hear at that moment.
Detroit 60 Series
What was it? It was an oil-soaked shop towel tucked between valves 3 and 4.

Here it is out of the engine.

I thought some of the guys in the shop were going to have a baby heart attack when they saw it, which is pretty cool since the guy who found it and I were already having matching baby heart attacks.
Prevost Houston Mid Coast Diesel
We have owned the BoggsMobile since March 2008. I have driven it 170,000 miles. It had about 180,000 miles from two previous owners. The first owner kept meticulous records including transcribed phone conversations with Prevost and Featherlite. The second owner left behind great maintenance records as well. There is NO mention of this engine ever being opened.

That leaves me to believe that shop towel has been in there since January 1995, 24 years and 350,266 miles.

I shudder to think about what could have happened during any one of those miles. If you look closely, you can see the shop towel has a few ripped places. It looks like the constant motion of the valves was leaving the mark. It could have been inching closer to a catastrophic failure. My head has been spinning since that towel was found Friday.

Makes me wish I was on social media and knew how to use it. I would put these pictures on Detroit's Twitter or Instagram. #SurgicalSpongeLeftInTheBody

In the grand scheme of things, I guess a shop towel riding inside my bus engine is a minor bump in the road, but it could only happen to me.

There is a medical term for this. Perhaps the BoggsMobile could make it into a medical journal as being the first Detroit 60 Series to have Gossypiboma or Retained Foreign Object (RFO).

Thank you for checking in.

Hey! Where Is My Wheelchair?

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from the BoggsMobile. I hope you all had a great week. My week was wonderful! The revival at Sterlington Holiness Tabernacle was so sweet.  The entire week the Lord met us and touched many people. I praise God for reviving me this week!

Our family always enjoys our visits with Pastor T.D. and Sis. Shea and family!!  We laughed about our past good times and made new memories. Thank you to our friends in Sterlington for your kindness and hospitality. We love you all!

Today the BoggMobile has carried us to Texas. We are looking forward to being in Gainesville, Texas and then we will move down to Sweeny, Texas. We are looking forward to seeing friends and family and good revivals this week. In Gainesville you will find us at House of Prayer Assembly on Sunday thru Wednesday. Then we will transition Sweeny, Texas at Full Gospel Lighthouse starting Friday night.

Are you ready for another laughable “Odie Moment”?

I use a wheelchair for mobility when out of the BoggsMobile. My wheelchairs and I are tight we go everywhere together, well almost everywhere.

I have been known before to forget to make sure my wheelchair is loaded in the car. I accept responsibility, it is my job to make sure I have my correct mobility devices with me. It usually happens when I transfer from the power chair to the car. Last week in Mississippi I had a dumb moment.

Last week after riding in Pastor Tim Cauley’s vehicle I used my manual wheelchair to transfer to the Green Machine. I was waiting in the car for Mom and decided to use that moment to make an important phone call. I shut the car door to block the wind while I was on the phone. When Mom came to the car I was excited about the details of my phone call. I was discussing the phone call and forgot to remind Mom about the wheelchair, sitting right outside the door on my side of the car.

We proceeded to drive 3O minutes into Mobile, Alabama to a couple stores. We arrived at our first stop and realized my wheelchair was still sitting in the church parking lot!  Oh my goodness I felt so dumb! All I could do was laugh at my silly mistake.

I had to sit in the car at Burlington while Mom ran in quickly to pick up her needed items. Our next stop was Walmart and thankfully they had a manual wheelchair available for use. That chair was a tank and I was not able to self drive the chair so it was an adventure getting where we need to go. It also was a bumpy ride. I missed my chair!

When we pulled back up to the BoggsMobile I was happy to see my chariot waiting right where I left it parked. Since then I double and triple check to make sure the chair is loaded in the correct place.

I want to say I am so thankful to those responsible for creating wheelchairs and mobility aids. They help make my life so much easier, especially lightweight wheelchairs, IF I remember to take them with me.

I sometimes get questions about my exact wheelchair. My current manual wheelchair is the second one I have had in this design. We love that it is lightweight, compact and comfortable. It is less than 20 lbs without the footrests.

It is also very affordable compared to a lot of other chairs! I have purchased mine on Amazon. My chairs get daily use and my first chair this design lasted four years.  It has my stamp of approval. It the Ergo Flight Ultra Lightweight by Karman

Thanks for stopping by visiting with me. Maybe my craziness brought a smile to your face. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Orange Hands

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from a moving BoggsMobile. We are Kentucky bound this fine Saturday morning. Please come and join us in service tonight in Central City, Kentucky, tomorrow in Hodgenville, Kentucky or Monday in West Harrison, Indiana. Come be with us to find out who we have tagging along for a couple of days. We have two special guests this weekend. I know that it will be a fun filled 3 days.

Today I have a very funny and embarrassing story to tell you! It has been a while since I shared something embarrassing about myself. This certainly qualifies.

Last Friday we went to eat a special Christmas dinner with Uncle Steve and Aunt Karen. You can read about that dinner here.

We visited one of my favorite restaurants, Rodizio. It is definitely a very nice place and special a treat to eat there. I consider it more of an upscale establishment.

Well, you can dress me up and take me to a fancy restaurant, but I will most likely do something crazy. We went into this dimly lit restaurant and found our table. Mom retrieved her hand sanitizer and I reached for my water enhancing drops.

In true “Odie” fashion I picked up the orange water drops thinking it was hand sanitizer and liberaly applied it to my hands! I immediately realized my mistake and re-sanitized my hands, but the damage was done. We all had a good laugh at my blooper.😂

The restaurant was dim, but not so dim that I could not tell the difference between hand sanitizer and orange flavoring. I have no excuse for that.

But it was dim enough that I could not see exactly what was going on with my hands. After a lengthy meal, I went into a bright restroom to find my hands were still very orange. I had to scrub my hands a few times to remove all of the orange color, over the course of a few days. I did not allow pictures of my hands.😑

The moral of this story:
1. Make sure that you really have the correct product before pouring it on your hands. 🤦🏽‍♀️
2. Water enhancing drops are good for water but they DO NOT double as hand sanitizer.
3. Also, I have not tried this, but I highly doubt hand sanitizer doubles as a water enhancer. I do not recommend trying it. 😀

Well, I hope this story has caused you to laugh and brightens your day. Thank you for visiting with me here. I hope you have a fantastic weekend. See you in 2019. Stay tuned right here. I know that I will have more crazy happenings next year.

Lost Shirt Mystery

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from Ohio. We have had a full and fun week once again. Life just keeps rolling and things are great.

I am absolutely loving my “beachless” beach cottage! I am so excited to show it off to my family and friends. Check out the post from Tuesday to see a glimpse of the decor. I am still awe stuck over this miracle from God. He has blessed me beyond measure!

I am anticipating a great week coming up now. We begin revival tomorrow at Anchor of Hope. We love Pastor E.J. Lamb and our friends at Anchor. The Lord always helps us there. I am looking for God there each service. Revival is scheduled for Sunday-Wednesday. You are invited to join us.

Today I wanted to share a story that cracks me up. We have to rewind to 2015 for the beginning of the story.

That summer my parents, grandparents and Uncle Steve and Aunt Karen went to Alaska. They brought me back several great souveniers that I still love now.

My Gran and Papaw purchased a T-shirt for me. When they arrived home the shirt was no where to be found. It was lost. They even moved to a new home last year and the shirt was not found.

We decided that the shirt was misplaced and did not survive the trip from Alaska to Ohio. We often laughed about the mystery of the missing shirt.

Recently my Gran was unpacking some shirts from a box. When she removed a bundle of shirts from the box, out fell my t-shirt.

The mystery was solved. When preparing to leave Alaska in 2015, they had packed my Papaw’s shirts with mine folded together in the suitcase to save space. When Gran unpacked, she put Papaw's shirts up for future use, forgetting that mine was in with his.

Fast forward to 2018 when I visited Alaska for myself. I was at the airport waiting to fly home from vacation and I received a text from Gran. It said I found your t-shirt. I laughed so hard!!!😂

I love the shirt! Thank you, Gran and Papaw for my souvenier. I love you both so much. This is a great memory to add to my collection! I will be laughing over this for years to come.

Have you ever lost any souvenirs?

Thank you for stopping by for a visit today. It was my pleasure to have you here with us! Have a wonderful weekend.

What Happened in Juneau Stays in Juneau

Hey Friends,

This Odie coming to you from Ohio. This week has been full of projects. We have been able to cross some things off the to do list. I am settling into the house that was built for me to live in. I am loving my little beach cottage.

Vacation was amazing. I was able to visit the 49th state out of the 50 states in the United States. Also it was my 49th state to visit.

I can not really describe the beauty of Alaska! I can not settle on the correct adjectives to use. You really have to see the beauty to understand for yourself. I will have pictures to share but I am still working to gather them all.

The main way that I capture photos is through my iPhone. My iPhone 8+ loved Juneau, Alaska so much that it decided to jump out of my hand and into the ocean and stay there forever! I was devastated to watch it fall several stories to a watery grave. It was a sickening and sinking feeling to watch it disappear!

That night I cried many tears! But my family consoled me. It was just a horrible accident! I admit I could have been more careful to avoid it. I had been warned, but my Dad was awesome. He hugged me, dried my tears and assured that money could replace my phone. I am glad I carry insurance on my phone.

We still had several days to enjoy vacation. I was determined not to let the sad loss of my phone ruin it. After a late night trip to get a Diet Coke and ice cream I was ready to laugh again.

I wish I could have woke up and my nightmare be gone. Sadly it did not go that way. I will not ever hear the end of the jokes, but I deserve them. I am actually dreading some of the texts that this post will generate!

If you tried to reach me between July 20th and July 31st I probably did not receive your message. I was expecting some very important tests and know that I missed them. Please call or text again.

Before I close for today, two very special people celebrated birthdays this week. I want to wish them a Happy Belated Birthday here.

My Mamaw, Martha Boggs had a birthday on Monday. Mamaw, I love you so much! You are amazing and I am blessed to call you Mamaw. Thank you for everything thing you do for me and our family!

Yesterday was a big day for my Papaw Danny Morgan. He reached 70 years young milestone. Papaw, you are totally awesome! I can not say thank you enough for all the work that you have put into my home! You brought my dreams to life. I love you so much!!

Thank you for stopping by to visit with me. Have a great weekend.

Relaxation In Pictures

I added a few more pictures

First, a happy ending to a story.

I told you back in July of an interesting experience while traveling between Wichita, Kansas and Colorado Springs, Colorado and gaining nearly 5000' of elevation in the process. You can read the story at the link, but to make a long story short, we heard a small "explosion" going down the road. Kelly Jo later found a whole bottle of body wash had blown the top and emptied completely.

I now offer proof that we actually have people that read the blog, even the minutia mentioned above. Bro. Bruce and Sis. Priscilla Mayhan brought a replacement bottle FULL of body wash. It was the exact brand and size. It was hilarious!

We were cracking up over their gift even when we thought about it hours later! Thanks, friends, you got us again!

Relaxation In Pictures

Today I have a few pictures from our vacation. These are mostly scenery shots and what beautiful scenery it was. These were all taken with iPhones so the pictures can not really tell the story. I have more pictures, KJ has pictures, Odie has a few pictures and then we have more pictures taken with Odie's nice camera. All that to tell you that you may see some more pictures.

Sailing up Tracy Arm Fjord to a tidal glacier. Awesome!
