Foodie Friday Friends Family And Furry Friends

Hey Friends,

Happy Friday! Welcome to August! 2025 is sailing right by. I find it hard to believe that fall is right around the corner!

I have had an incredible week! It has been wonderful to fellowship with family and friends. We have enjoyed some delicious food along the way! It is a joy to experience laughter and friendship!

My friends Emily and Nathan Roberts came to get me on Wednesday evening. We had wanted to go out for dinner for a long time, and Wednesday was the appointed day. Mexican was on the menu, and I was all for that!

Alcapulco was just as good as ever! Our friends there took great care of us. Pictures do not do the food justice. I apologize that you cannot taste or smell this food!

I enjoyed the evening with Emily and Nathan! Thank you so much, my dear friends for spending part of your day with me! You will never know how much it meant to me!

On the way home from Acapulco, a sudden heavy rain popped up. We had to wait it out for a few moments in the car.

Wednesday, my cousin Lauren Osborn sent me this picture of the beach cottage. This was taken from the Dodds church parking lot.

Thanks, Lauren, for capturing this beautiful picture. I love to see a rainbow! I am reminded of the promises of God every time!

Also, here is another photo that I captured that evening. it was cool enough for me to enjoy my porch and a beautiful sunset!

Thursday, it was time for more family and fellowship! The rain continued so the party came to me! The beach cottage became the party house.

They brought Raising Cane's with them too! It was scrumptious. my friends spoil me! 😂

I was thrilled to have my cousins Sarah, Bethany, Rebecca, Emerson, Grace Brylee and Clayton visit me! I think we all laughed until we hurt. It was just what the doctor ordered for all of us!

I say it a lot, but I am so thankful for these ladies and their families! They have been my heroes since I was a girl. We have grown up together and experienced a lot of life. I'm so thankful for them! Thank you for taking time for me! I love you all so much!

Yes, we missed you, Rodney, Philip, Brandon and Bryson! I knew I would get that question from them. 🤣

Here is one more visitor to the beach cottage I caught on camera this week.

I have seen rabbits often. This little bunny stayed in this spot for a long time! I guess he was being my guard rabbit that night. I usually see them down by our barn, not in front of the house.

Thank you for reading. See you all tomorrow!

Foodie Friday 7/25/25

 Hey Friends,

I need to start today’s post with an apology! I know several of you read the blog early in the morning. Yesterday‘s post did not go up at 2 AM, which is usually my scheduled time for the new post each day.

My cousin Lisa text me yesterday to check on me. She was worried because there was no blog yesterday morning. I am so thankful that she did text me and tell me. I checked the post and accidentally scheduled it to go live this morning. Thankfully, I was able to correct my mistake!

Yesterday was a very special Throwback Thursday! I shared a YouTube video Dad posted two years ago this summer. Click here if you missed yesterday's post!

Foodie Friday

Now it is time for Friday's post. This is when I like to focus on some good food!

Wednesday morning, Lisa and I made last-minute plans to have lunch together. She had some extra time in her busy day and chose to spend it with me!

Somehow, her car found its way to a couple of our favorite spots! We ended up in Springboro. First, we visited our favorite Cassanos pizza!

I wish you could taste and smell Cassano's pizza through the pictures! It was amazing and hit the spot!

Before heading back to my house, the car found its way to Dairy Queen Drive thru!

This was the perfect way to conclude a great lunch with a very special person! The ice cream tasted wonderful. The fellowship was even sweeter and we were able to beat the heat on a hot July day!

Lisa, I love you! Thank you for always being there for us! You are amazing! I appreciate you spending some of your downtime with me!

Thank you for reading!  I hope you are able to stay cool on this beautiful Friday! I will see you all tomorrow!

Foodie Friday 7/18/25

 Hey Friends,

Thanks for dropping by to check in with me! I hope you are having a fabulous Friday.

It has been several weeks since I have posted a Foodie Friday. Did you know you can get a personalized ice cream cake from DQ?

Several years ago, maybe even as far back as 2020, my cousin Courtney told me about this DQ option. I do not think it is on the actual menu, but you can ask for it.

I absolutely love DQ ice cream cake! I have wanted to try the personal one, but I could never remember what to ask when visiting DQ.

Courtney told me again this week that it is called a Cupcake. We visited DQ together on Wednesday night after church. I finally got my DQ Cupcake.

Isn't this just the cutest Ice Cream Cupcake you have ever seen? The Cupcake tastes just as yummy as Courtney told me it would! I will definitely get this again! You can get all the goodness of a regular ice cream cake, just in a personal size!

I had to include two pictures of two of my favorite cousins! I love these two kids so much. Jackson and Karleigh Jo were extra excited for their DQ milkshakes!

We have all inherited our Papaw’s deep love for ice cream! We say ice cream runs in our veins! Ice cream is even better when you enjoy it with wonderful family!

Thank you for joining me for Foodie Friday this week! You will have to let me know if you have tried the DQ Cupcake! I definitely recommend it!

A Refreshing Surprise

 Hey Friends,

Happy Saturday! I hope you have a nice place to stay cool on this hot July day!

It has been extremely hot and humid here in Ohio! I am glad for the nice air-conditioning to retreat to! Oddly enough, I am also thrilled to be hot!

We were so cold for so long this year. I did not know if summer weather would ever come! Now I don't want to complain about the heat!

My cousin Ben Isaacs introduced me to a drink last month. He gave me an ice-cold Prime drink in the Ice Pop flavor! It was so refreshing and I was hooked! I felt like I was drinking one of those Rocket Pop popsicles.

The Prime drink is low in sugar and is good for hydration. Recently, I was telling my cousin Deb, about liking the drink. I sent her a picture of it so that she could find it for herself.

Yesterday, she sent me a text, asking if I was home. I quickly text back, yes, and she said I will be right there. A few minutes later, she was pulling into my driveway. She came bearing gifts!

She had been to Kroger and found the Prime Ice Pop drinks on sale. Deb bought some for her to try and blessed me with several. It was the sweetest refreshing surprise on a hot day!

Deb sent me a text last night, she is now hooked on the drinks as well! I guess we both have found something to keep us refreshed this summer!

Thank you, Deb for your thoughtfulness! I love you, Cuz! Thanks for bringing smile to my face!

See you all back here tomorrow!

Foodie Friday 6/27/25

 Hey Friends,

I appreciate you stopping by to visit with us today! I hope you have an amazing Friday. How is it already the end of June?

Over a month ago, we had a very special evening with some dear friends. Somehow, I got busy and forgot to post about it.

I will remedy that today. It is an excellent topic for Foodie Friday. I am getting hungry just thinking about it!

We dearly love Bro. Jared Burris and his family! They have been our friends, more like family, for many many years. God has ordained our friendship with the Burris family!

Throughout the years, we made many memories with them in both California and Ohio. We will forever treasure those memories. They have been with us through good times and rough times!

I am thankful that the Lord sent them to live in Ohio a few years ago. It has been wonderful to see them more often.

Most of the time it is just a quick hug and a smile at church. It helps knowing we have such fine folks in our corner. They will be there if we just call, and they have proven it.

We have been talking about getting together for a long time to just fellowship. Both of our families schedules stay so busy. The weather got in the way at least once this winter. Back in May we all decided we just need to make this happen!

The place, date and time were set! We were so excited! My taste buds were ready to taste some yummy Burris food! They are incredible cooks! I know from experience!

When the appointed time rolled around, the fellowship was grand! It was just what our hearts needed. The food was just as fabulous as I imagined it would be!

Mom loves her Grizzly Bear buddy. She missed him! 🤣

Prepare yourselves when you look at the pictures your mouth will start watering! You have been warned. I do not want you to soak your phones, iPads or computers with the saliva

Thanks to Bro. Jared, Sis. Valerie Emily, Nathan, Gunner and Grant for spending your time with us! We love you all so much!

Food, friends and fellowship, that is a winning combination! Thanks for reading about our excellent visit with the Burris Family!

Family Anniversaries And Food

Hey Friends,

Thank God we made it safely home last night! We are always so thankful for His protection. God is so good!

We were not in any hurry yesterday, so we could take it easy in the morning. After spending two long days in the studio recording, it was a reward day!

Our travel day was smooth! We were craving a good steak dinner to cap off our trip. Several of our family members were already planning to meet up at Longhorn. They invited us to join them, and we gladly accepted! That was the perfect way to end our day!

Yesterday was Mamaw and Papaw's 62nd wedding anniversary. Today is Jay and Theresa’s 33rd wedding anniversary! Happy Anniversary to both lovely couples.

We were celebrating their marriage milestones with an excellent meal and great family time! It was a precious evening!

I can never stress enough how much I love my family! I am so blessed and thankful that God gave me a wonderful family! I love all of them so much!

Now we are home and gearing up for the next adventure that starts soon! Here are a few pictures from last night's dinner.

I will see you all next time!

Foodie Friday 5/2/25

 Hey Friends,

Welcome to this edition of Foodie Friday. Here is a peek at some of our meals from this week. Have I ever mentioned that I love food?!

The star of the show is yesterday’s lunch. We had a great meal at Alcapulco with Mamaw and Papaw.

On Monday, they also went with us to an appointment. Somehow, a lunch stop was included in our plans. 😆

I was not complaining! Cheddars was on the menu for that day. It was absolutely scrumptious!

Now for few a yummy meals at the Beach Cottage.

Finishing it up with a great Chick-fil-A car lunch while running errands.

Just one question, are you hungry yet? I am! 😆 I will let you go eat now. See you tomorrow.

Foodie Friday Dolly’s

 Hey Friends,

Thanks for joining me today. I hope you are having a great Friday!

Man, do I ever have a yummy Foodie Friday for you? We visited Dolly’s for the first time yesterday. Below is the backstory for my non Ohio tri-state readers.

Frisch's was a local favorite restaurant for many decades. Late last year, all but a couple of locations closed. We were all saddened to lose a staple restaurant in our area. Frisch’s was always part of our lives! What were we going to do?

There were rumblings of Big Boy restaurants moving into the Miami Valley after Frisch’s closed. Big Boy and Frisch’s were competitors. Their menus were much the same. Big Boy would not move into Frisch’s market while Frisch’s was still open. A huge uproar took place in local courts and media. Frisch’s was trying to block Big Boy.

They came up with a different plan, and Dolly’s was born. I have heard that over 50 old Frisch’s locations will now house Dolly’s by summer. They started opening last month! We are excited to have something like Frisch's again!

A Big Boy character is the mascot for Frisch’s and subsidiary restaurants. A Big Boy statue was usually out in front of the buildings. Dolly was Big Boy’s girlfriend in a comic in the kids menus.

Now you know about Dolly’s. The food was very good. We got the Big Boy, aka The Signature, at Dolly’s. It is slightly different but delicious. The onion rings and fries were good. The Hot Fudge cake was out of this world scrumptious! It was hand-dipped in ice cream, and you got the choice of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry ice cream!

I will close with my Dolly’s pictures. Aunt Theresa, Mamaw and Papaw joined Mom and me. We enjoyed our time with them!

See you tomorrow.

The Bog Boy statue was gone. Mom posed in his spot.
