Home Sweet Home

 Hey Friends,

Odie here today. I was released from the hospital yesterday. Thanks to Papaw Eugene for being my chauffeur home.

It feels good to be home in my bed. I am trying to stay on top of the pain meds to keep the pain under control. So I've been resting a lot.

I did get up for a little while during the evening and eat dinner. Some of my sweet friends from church gifted me with a DoorDash gift card. We ordered Acapulco and had it delivered to the house last night. Thanks to my friends for their generosity!

Yesterday afternoon, I received a surprise delivery! It made my day. This gift is from the Isaacs, Yeary and Bowman families! 

Mom and I had a great support team at the hospital the day of my surgery! Uncle Steve captured a few pictures for me. Also not pictured are Uncle Steve and Lisa. Both of them were there as well! They were partying without me. 

Thank you to my family for being there! I love you all so much!!!

Bethany Stansell was one of the nurses on the floor I was on. She was not my nurse, but she checked on me. She made sure I was well cared for. I love Beth!

Throwback Thursday 11/20/25

 Hey Friend,

Odie here, writing from a hospital bed. Thank you, Mom, for posting yesterday. I was not able to write anything!

Surgery was successful on Tuesday evening. Tuesday night was an uncomfortable night. My pain was unbearable, at times. I was searching endlessly for a spot where I could be pain free. My search was unsuccessful. Mom stayed right by me trying to to help me get relief. 

Wednesday was much more manageable. The pain was still there, but meds are helping! I am supposed to be released from the hospital today. 

Thank for your prayers, friendship and support! It is all very much appreciated!

 

Throwback Thursday 

One year ago tomorrow was Dad’s Celebration of Life service! It truly was amazing service. Mom and I laughed, smiled and worshipped God more than we cried! It was a great way to honor a life well lived.

It has had over 8,200  views. I can hear Dad saying, I had to die to get that many views. 🤣 I am so thankful we have the service archived!

November 19 Update on Odie

 Hello Friends,

This is Kelly Jo stepping in for Odie today. 

I wanted to share a brief update with you. 

Odie was scheduled for surgery at 3:00 pm EST. It was closer to 5:30 when they started the surgery. Apparently there was an emergency surgery that need the Doctor’s attention. We were not upset about that because last year we had our own emergency surgery situation. 

Dr. Kelsey Madsen preformed the surgery. She has been an amazing doctor. She said Odie did great and everything went successfully as planned. 

Odie is now on the road to recovery. Pray that her pain is under control and things remain headed in right direction. No one wants Odie to hurt….ESPECIALLY ME,

although she might disagree in humor.😊

We really appreciate the prayers of all our friends. God’s people are the best!

Odie’s Surgery Day 11/18/25

 Hey Friends,

I am writing this post right before I lie down, hoping to get some sleep. The clock says it's already a few minutes into Tuesday morning.

Later today, I will go to the hospital. We have to be there at 1 PM. My abdominal hysterectomy is scheduled for 3 PM Eastern time. 

I appreciate all the prayers! Thank you to all of you. Who has let me know you are thinking and praying for me today! I feel all the prayers! I am not really that nervous.

I am anxious to be on the road to recovery and get this chapter behind me!  Hopefully, part of my life will be much better after today.

Monday was spent in surgery prep. Mom helped me clean my room and set it up for recovery! Thank you, Mom, so much for all of your help. I appreciate it!

I will do my best to share an update tomorrow. I am not promising that it will be posted early. It just depends on how I feel after surgery this evening. If there's not a post in the morning, check back in the afternoon.

I will leave you with a picture of the drink. I had to drink Monday night and one this morning. I guess it is my midnight snack and my breakfast.  It did not taste too bad, thank the Lord!

Weekend Wrap Up 11/17/25

Hey Friends,

Thanks for stopping by for this Weekend Wrap Up. 

Today, I have several pics. We had a revival at DRPC. You will see several food pics too. 

Friday, we spent time with our Morgan Family in Hillsboro. 

Saturday was some more family time. 

We were able to attend a Jason Crabb and Isaacs concert Saturday night. Here is some pictures. I plan to do a full post later.

Sunday, was devoted to church at DRPC. It is always a blessing to hear our Pastor preach, and worship with our church family! It was also great to have the Bostwick family visiting us from Virginia.

That wraps up our weekend! Thank you for reading today. 

Tomorrow is surgery day for me. Thank you for your prayers! I will do my best to keep the blog going this week. I am going to try to schedule a few post ahead of time.

 Hey Friends,

Thanks for stopping by to visit. I am a lady of many names. Andrea my given name, Odie and my long list of nicknames. 

My favorite name is Auntie O. I have adopted my friend’s and cousin’s children as my nieces and nephews. 

I so grateful that they allow me to love their children.  

I love being, Auntie O! Spoiling the kids are a blast! The children bring me so much love and joy!

For my 40th birthday, I was blessed to receive several incredible gifts. My family and friends blessed and spoiled me! I am so grateful!!

There is one special gift that melted my heart. Deidre and her family created an awesome cup for me. 

Every time I use the cup, I smile! Deidre included all my first cousins’ kids from the Boggs and Morgan side. Her thoughtful gift was so sweet.

Surgery Prep For Odie

 Hey Friends,

A year ago tomorrow night, I ended up in the ER. I had emergency surgery in the middle of the night to remove an ugly, painful tumor and my last ovary. 

I am so thankful that everything turned out OK. We were definitely living in a fog and running on adrenaline. It was only by the strength of God and the help of our family that we survived. 

Dad passed on Sunday in Kansas. By Friday night, we were back in Ohio, facing another health crisis. I was released from the hospital on Monday. 

Dad's services were on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Thank God, I was able to attend both services. I was weak but felt OK.

A year later, it feels like déjà vu. I do not have the excruciating pain! Some of my health problems have persisted all year! It has been a tiring journey to get to where we are today. 

Tuesday afternoon, I am going back to the hospital. I will have an abdominal hysterectomy. This is supposed to fix the problem once and for all. Surgery is scheduled for 3 PM Eastern time on Tuesday afternoon. 

My doctor, who has seen me through the last year, is a jewel! My surgery will be one of the final ones she performs before she moves out of state. I am so thankful that she can help me feel better before she leaves!

This week has been full of surgery prep. I am trying to get things ready here on the home front for recovery after surgery. I had four different appointments to get ready for surgery. The final two were yesterday afternoon.

I have had two major surgeries in my lifetime. I did not get time to prepare for either of those. I went to the emergency room, not feeling well. Both times I found out quickly, that I was facing surgery. This time around, I do not know if the prep time is helping or hurting me.

I am not excited to have the pain of surgery, but I am excited to feel much better! I am hoping and praying for a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery. Please join me in praying for the doctors, nurses and everyone involved in the surgical process!

First off, today let's celebrate! My precious Aunt Theresa Boggs Osborn had a birthday today! Happy Happy birthday, Theresa!

We love you to the moon and back! I am so proud of you. You are a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, friend, and pastor's wife!

Thank you for being awesome!You are a blessing too many people! May God give you a wonderful day and great blessings today. 

No doubt about it, you will always be Dad's favorite sister!

This is Dad’s final A Word For Wednesday  He published this on the last Wednesday of October in 2024. It took all of his strength to get this episode recorded, edited and published. In fact, he begged Mom or I to record this episode for him

There is one more thing that happened a year ago today, I do not know if we mentioned it here on the blog. It is a memory that Mom and I will cherish forever! We believe that it is a God moment. 

One year ago today, we arrived home to Ohio. Mom, Papaw Danny, and my self were in our car making the drive. My Uncle Danny and Aunt Jeanna were following us. 

As we came in to Cincinnati, Ohio. A Southwest Airlines plane flew right in front of us. The plane was very noticeable! Dad’s body made it’s final trip home from Wichita, Kansas on a Southwest Airlines flight. 

We came in to Cincinnati at the same time as his flight would have been making it final descent. We could not have planned it on our own to see that plane come in to Cincinnati. 

In my mind, it was a Godwink that our hearts needed that very moment. I wish I would have snapped a picture, but I was too shocked in the moment. It is a memory that I will carry in my heart forever!

That is just one of the many way we have seen God work over the last year! I am so thankful that we can depend on God to always be with us. He is always working on our behalf even when I can't see it or fill it God is working! I believe it with all of my heart!

Weekend Wrap Up 11/12/25

 Hey Friends,

Thank you for stopping by to visit with us today! Last week, I mentioned to you that we made a quick trip. We were in Florida for a few days. The trip also included a day in Mississippi.

We were in Cantonment, Florida, spending time with Bro. Philip Deane and family. Bro. Colton Deane is going to help us with a couple of Christmas concerts next month. 

Last week, we were able to work in a few practice sessions. We will not be able to meet in person to practice again until the week of the concerts. 

I already included a couple of pictures from our practice sessions, but here are a few more. 

A Weekend Wrap Up must have a few food pictures as well. 

The day we spent in Mississippi included a service at Trinity in Pascagula. They had a fellowship meeting last week, and we were able to be there for the final night. 

We were able to hear, Bro. Tyler Combs preach in the youth service. Bro. John Brock preached the evening service. They both did wonderful! It was great to see so many friends!

I snapped some photos. We had to slip out before the church was over. I was not able to get all the pictures that I wanted. 

We had a crazy time traveling home. I did not get any pictures of our travel day. We were just thankful to get home! 

Mom and I had to end up taking separate flights from Pensacola to Atlanta. Then we were able to get on the same flight from Atlanta to Dayton flight. I was the last  to board  the flight. I was going through Atlanta airport as fast as my little wheels would carry me. Thank God I made it. 

That wrapped up our weekend. We made it home Sunday in time to take a long winters nap. Then woke up to snow.

I want to close today by wishing a very special person Happy Birthday! Lisa Isaacs is celebrating a birthday! 

We love you, Lisa, so very much! I hope you feel extra loved and appreciated today!
