Unwelcomed Visitors

 Hey Friends,

Mom found unwelcomed visitors at the barn yesterday. She spotted hornets swarming and their nest.

She had not seen it on Thursday when she mowed the yard. She was in and out of the barn with the door up and down several times. I am thankful she was not stung!

The nest is located in the upper right corner of the door.

Yesterday, Mom immediately took action and called the professionals to exterminate the hornets. We do not want them hanging out here.

Now, for a zoomed in look at the nest.

We both remembered Dad’s run in with hornets. He often told us this story. By the time I heard it, he was laughing about the ordeal. Yesterday, we just had to smile, thinking about Dad’s Hornets.

This is the story as we remember Dad telling us. I thought he had blogged about it before, but I could find no record of it.

When Dad was a kid, he was with some of his 98 Isaacs family cousins in Kentucky. They were picking blackberries.

Grandpa Isaacs parted a bush, and a big papery nest dropped on the ground. He cried, “HORNETS!!!!”

There were many kids and adults around, but the one kid that ran became the target of the hornets. It was my Dad!

He told us they chased him as he ran as fast as he could. He was being stung all over. They got under a leather bracelet he was wearing.

His dad, my Papaw Eugene was his salvation. He chased him down, tackling him pulled off his shirt and began to get the hornets off of him. I think they made it to the creek.

My Dad hated hornets from that day forward. Also, the daughters of his Uncle Herman Isaacs named him “Hornet”.

Even after they were all grown they would still call him “Hornet”  when they saw him.

Daddy loved his cousins and their memories! I think he loved his Hornet nickname from his beloved cousins.

Dad had to face his hornet fears on different occasions to get rid of a nest. He got stung doing so as an adult, and we heard the original hornet story then.

Let me close today with anniversary wishes. Uncle Jay and Aunt Theresa Osbon got married 34 years ago today!

Happy Anniversary! We love you both so much! I pray God grants you the best year yet!

See you tomorrow.

Happy 63rd Anniversary Mamaw and Papaw

 Hey Friends,

Happy Anniversary to Martha and Eugene, aka Mamaw and Papaw or Nana and Papa Great! We love you so much!

63 years ago, our branch of the Boggs family began. Carl Eugene Boggs married Martha Emma Isaacs on June 12 1963.

Their love has weathered good days and bad. They have known sickness and health. Times when money was tight, and questions outweighed the answers. Through it all God is good to them! He is their sustaining grace!

Our Family union now includes 4 children and in-laws, 7 grandchildren and a few spouses, a few grandchildren waiting in Heaven and 7 great-grandchildren. Number 8 is due next month. We are all proud to be members of their family!

Thank God for His blessings and faithfulness. We all love Mamaw and Papaw! We are thankful for their love and influence on us all!

Mamaw and Papaw, my words are hollow, I cannot fully express my sentiment to you. My heart overflows with gratitude for your love and support. I pray you feel extra loved today. Happy Anniversary!!!

Here are some pics from my recent archives, and a few older ones with Dad. Thank you for reading!

Dodds Praise On The Porch Pics

 Hey Friends,

Firstly, I owe God a huge praise for answering prayers! The weather forecast yesterday had very high chances of rain during setup and church.

We asked God to hold off the bad weather. He did it! We were able to have outside service as planned. We are so thankful! The temperature was hot and the humidity high. We sweated out and survived.

The Lord met us during the service. He rewarded our worship with His sweet presence. Thank you, Jesus!

The amazing Luke Hauri joined us on vocals. He is incredible! We are honored that he will sing with us! It was special to have him sing with us, because he also has family ties at Dodds.

Bro. Carmin Dotry played drums for us. My adopted big Bro. is always ready to assist us! Thank you so much, Carmin!

My cousin Victor Boggs played bass. He is extremely talented! It was fun having him jam with us. Love you, VBoy!

Bro. Aaron and Sis. Candace Berger helped us with the sound equipment and running it for us. They were a huge blessing to us!

Below are a handful of pictures from the evening. These came from a few different ladies. Thanks for sending me your pictures.

See you all tomorrow!

Dodds Praise On The Porch Reminder

 Hey Friends,

Tomorrow evening is the next Praise On The Porch at Dodds Pentecostal Church. The service begins at 6:00 PM. The church is located at
3157 Old State Rt 122
Waynesville, Ohio.

We do have a very special guest joining us on Sunday. Bro. Luke Hauri will be singing with us. He is incredibly talented! He did a Christmas service with us in December. Mom and I are both excited to sing with him again.

We are excited about this service! I am praying that God blesses us in a special way and helps our family, friends and neighborhood.

Hopefully, the weather will be nice! The forecast has some rain for Sunday. If it does rain, we will be inside the church.

We are looking forward to being in church tomorrow with Pastor Jay, Sis. Theresa Osborn and the congregation. You are invited to join us for this special night of worship!

Thank you for reading.
