Sunday Sanity 8/16/26

 Hey Friends, 

Yesterday afternoon, Mom and I were feasting on the song written from Psalm chapter 34. It was the mana we needed for the moment! 

I apologize if my neighbor heard us singing this last night. We were having a personal worship session. I am thankful that we can worship God anytime and anywhere! 

Today, I figured that I would share this song with you. Hoping that it will also encourage your soul and give you a nugget of sanity for this Sunday. 

We both really like the Brooklynn Tabernacle version of this song. I hope you can listen to it and let these words wash over your mind.

Richton Tent Revival 2026 Save The Date

 Hey Friends,

Our fall plans are shaping up to be busy. We have some exciting things that we get to be part of this year. 

Pastor Scott Morris and First Assembly are going to set up the "Blue and White Gospel Tent. Last I heard, Pastor Brent Gabbard Mon-Wed and Pastor Kenny Morris Thurs-Fri will be preaching this year. 

Pastor Scott Morris has aked us to be there for the meeting. We will be singing. This meeting is always a highlight of our year. It is an honor to be invited to return to Richton for Tent Revival! 

Save the dates and come join us in Richton for Tent Revival 2026. God has always saved, blessed, healed and encouraged under the tent in Richton. I expect He will do so even more this year!

DRPC Our Home Sweet Church

 Hey Friends,

We are still getting back in the swing of things at home. My body clock is having a hard time switching back from West Coast time this time around. Hopefully, I am about to get it figured out.

I was excited to get back to our church last night. We are blessed with the best church family at DRPC! 

They are so supportive of us with their prayers and love! They are also good at letting us know we are missed when we are gone. It feels good to belong to a church family!

Bro. Andrew Blevins preached great last night! It was a message straight to my soul. He encouraged us to rejoice in the Lord!

In the book of Philippians, we are commanded to rejoice and the Lord always. The circumstances of life may make it difficult to rejoice, But they do not change our obligation to rejoice.

There is one thing that we can all Rejoice about as Christians. We are saved and our sins are under the blood of Jesus! Oh hallelujah, I have a reason to rejoice today and forever more!

Can you join me today in rejoicing? If you are anything like me, you have a mountain of things to rejoice about. But in those moments when it's hard to rejoice, Find one thing to rejoice about. Soon the joy, the Lord will be your strength in your guide!

Home Sweet Home

Hey Friends,

I left you hanging in yesterday’s post HERE, but I promised the rest of the story today.

On Tuesday, we flew from Jackson, Mississippi, to Atlanta, Georgia. We had a few hours to spend there before catching our next flight. We enjoy a longer layover. 

It is nice not to be rushed. I have to be carried onto the plane in the tiny aisle chair, since I cannot walk. Therefore, I am the first one on the plane and the last one off. My layover times are often cut short because I need to board the plane first.

We were also keeping our eyes on possible bad weather, but we thought it was all going to be fine. We boarded the next flight to Cincinnati around 2:30 PM. My last restroom stop before getting on the plane was a few minutes after 2:00 PM. I have to pay attention to the clock and time everything just right.

Once everyone was on the plane and we were ready to go, bad weather in Ohio grounded us. For 2-plus hours, we sat on the plane unable to fly. Thankfully, we had good seats with plenty of legroom. The flight was completely full. All we could do was hurry up and wait. 

At one point, I fell asleep for a while. When I awoke, we were sitting on the runway. I could not remember if we were still on the tarmac in Atlanta. I thought we might have flown all the way to Ohio while I was asleep, and we were waiting to pull into the gate. 

 I had to check my location on Google Maps to see in which state we were located. It was hilarious! I honestly did not know if I was coming or going. At least the nap was good!

I snapped a quick selfie with Mom during the whole memory-making flight! You just have to roll with the punches.

After 5 PM, we were finally cleared to take off. We were within a half an hour of having to cancel the flight by law. By the time that we took off, I had been on the plane for over three hours. Originally, we had been scheduled to land at 4:45 PM. 

Then we had to fly the long way around to avoid bad weather. Needless to say, I was very ready to get off the plane once we landed in Cincinnati. Without hesitation my first stop was the restroom. People had to get out of my way because I was about to run over them with my wheelchair in my hurry.

It was good to be closer to home! And a funny turn of events our luggage took an earlier flight to Cincinnati us. While we were in the air, I got a message, letting me know that my baggage had arrived in Cincinnati. Sure enough once we got to baggage it was there waiting on us.

Around 9 PM we rolled into the beach cottage. I was thankful to be home and closer to my bed. Now you can see why I cut yesterday's blog a little short.

On a sidenote, the weather did get really bad close to some of my family! I am thankful to the Lord for protecting them. I am also grateful that Mom and I were safe. I am thankful for His protecting power over us!

Diverting For Deidre

 Hey Friends,

Saturday, I told you we took a red-eye flight Friday night. What I did not share was our flight diversion. We had an Atlanta layover, as planned. Saturday’s final destination changed. 

In Atlanta, we boarded a plane and headed to Jackson, Mississippi. Mom and I were able to surprise Deidre! The shock on her face was amazing when we came through the door. 

She thought DoorDash was bringing dinner. She had no clue that she had personal Dashers for a couple of days. It was a sweet moment. 

We visited them Saturday, Sunday and Monday. We were able to love on her and pray for her! I needed to see my Sissy!

God has helped her tremendously. Her faith is strong. We are believing with her for grace to endure and a complete miracle. 

Last I heard, she was still awaiting test results to confirm the possible diagnosis. NOTHING IS TOO BIG FOR GOD. We are choosing to thank Him in advance for a miracle! Please pray with us for Deidre and Ben and the family!

So that brings me to yesterday. It was our day to go home. Bright and early we were headed to Atlanta. Then home after a good layover.... I think I will tell the rest of the story tomorrow.

The New Mr and Mrs Hughes

 Hey Friends,

Friday afternoon, we attended a wedding in Arizona. Sis. Julie has been our friend since City Reach Phoenix in 2016. 

Bro. George and Sis. Julie began attending Desert Cove Assembly during our tent revival. They were a special couple to our family. 

Bro. George has been in Heaven for several years. We miss our friend! Sis. Julie has hung in there. We are thankful she is still part of the church and doing good. 

Bro. Bill Hughes is a newer member of DCA. His wife had also passed away. God brought Bill and Julie together, and at 84, they found love again. 

We heard this news while in California. They invited us to witness the happy occasion. Last minute, Sis. Carla asked Mom to play piano. That is how we got to see the new Mr. & Mrs. Hughes get married. It was a special event!

Sunday Sanity 8/9/26

 Hey Friends,

Thank you for praying for my sweet sister/cuz Deidre and her family! We have gotten some answers, but we are still praying for God to move! She is still undergoing testing. 

I was reminded of this statement I wrote in my notes a while back. Bro. Jeremy Henson's words encouraged me then. I am still feasting on them today. It is today's nugget of sanity!

Please Pray For Deidre

 Hey Friends,

This our last day in Arizona. We are supposed to take a red-eye flight overnight. Your prayers are appreciated!

Today, I am coming to you with a special prayer request. I know our readers are prayer warriors. You have helped us get through lots of rough places!

My cousin Deidre Boggs Shoemaker has been facing health issues. My cousin/sister heart is breaking. She needs a touch from God!

They have been battling the health care merry-go-round for days. Still the questions out number answers. 

Thank you for the prayers. I know Deidre, Ben and the whole family appreciate every prayer!

Desert Cove Assembly 2026 Visit

  Hey Friends,

We are still enjoying our time in Arizona. We were thrilled to be part of the church service last night at Desert Cove Assembly. 

Our family first came to minister here in October 2002. That started a lifelong friendship with the people out here. They become part of our road family. They will always hold a special place in our hearts. 

Last night, it was great to reunite with them. Pastor Noah Martinez invited us to minister in song and testimony. I am thankful God is still opening doors for Mom and me to minister! We are blessed!

We had a wonderful time worshiping God in song. Sis. Carla Martinez joined us on the third vocal part. We love singing with her!
