Hey Friends,
My Dad wrote in the past about the homeplace where his Mother grew up. The log cabin has been loved and cherished by our extended family for decades.
Grandpa Godfrey and Bessie Isaacs spent many years there. They lived off the land and raised their family there. They did not have running water or electricity. Life was not easy!
Dad had many happy days and memories of his time spent with family.
Grandpa died in 1985 Grandma followed in 1987. I did not get to experience life with them living there. Their memory lives on at the homeplace!
The homeplace remains in the family. The cabin is still standing, still without the utilities that we may consider necessities of life.
Through the years, the family has loved, revered and maintained it. Several cousins now own it. They are taking great care of the place.
Several weeks ago, my cousins prepared a special breakfast for some of the family. They invited the two remaining siblings out of the 17 children of Grandma and Grandpa Isaacs. My Mamaw, Martha and Uncle Joe were both there. I think there were several more family members there that day.
I know Mamaw enjoyed going home. I enjoyed seeing photos from that special morning.
I know we have several readers that have liked seeing pictures from the home place. I figured I would share these photos. Mamaw sent us.
If my Dad was able, he would have written a newspaper worthy post from this day. it would be full of his memories of Grandma and Grandma! I am thankful for the heritage that was passed down to us from such wonderful family members!
See you tomorrow!
Odie
