1/5 Friday Davy Update

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in with another Davy Update. We do not have the miracle yet, that we have been praying for. But God is incredible!

Dad has taught me this nugget of truth my whole life, and I am clinging to it right now. "We have to believe God can work a miracle! We are gonna praise God like He has already answered our prayers. Until He does answer, we must trust Him!"

We have much to thank God for today! I  write this with praise on my lips! My heart is overflowing!

1/5 Friday Davy Update

Mom and Dad have good news in two areas. First,  the tube feedings have been going very well and Mom has been educated in the process. After a few days of practice, she will be an expert.

Secondly, Dad was moved to the rehab unit on Thursday afternoon. He was moved up one floor but officially dismissed from the hospital and checked into rehab.

Beginning today, he should have 3 full hours of rehab spread out over the course of a day. It can be pretty intensive but he is hoping to have strength and stamina to charge at it like a bull.

Please pray for Dad during this rehab process. What happens these next several days can determine our future in large part.   We desire the help of the Lord.

The insurance has approved several days but they will be  involved in the decision making process as they hear reviews from the rehab facility. It is important that they see progress and continue approving the inpatient rehab.

We have been living in a whirlwind of activity. Our family and friends have helped us immensely. I can not adequately say thank you to everyone. May God bless all of you abundantly!

Thank you for your prayers, friendship and outpouring of love! We can not keep up with timely responses. The voicemails, texts, emails, and comments warm our hearts and make us smile! Stay tuned for more updates as they are available. We will post them here. Feel free to share the blog with others.

See you tomorrow,
Odie

1/4 Thursday Davy Update

Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking with an update from my parents. Wednesday was another full day of doctors, therapists, nurses and more doctors for my Mom and Dad.

It was also a full day of eating for my Dad. They started him on continuous feeding in his stomach feeding tube at 10:30 pm Tuesday and turned it off at 3:30 pm Wednesday. That is 17 hours of continuous eating. Dad says that’s a record even for him. 😀

Of course, over those 17 hours, they fed him 620 milliliters of food. In comparison, a 20-ounce bottle of Sam’s Choice water is 591 milliliters. He basically drank a 20-ounce bottle of water plus nutrients through his stomach in 17 hours.

His body handled it well, so they are changing over to his choice of feeding. Mom will push it with a syringe every 4 hours and be done with it.

Even better news: swallowing therapy was excellent on Wednesday. He made much more progress toward a full swallow. It will take much more work to get there, but we believe God to work in this area.

They have decided to take advantage of inpatient intensive therapy if they are accepted. There, he will have hours of physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy to help him with swallowing.

Perhaps the biggest news of the day is concerning the MRI that Davy had Tuesday. It confirmed the stroke Davy had was involving the medulla part of the brain. That is the brain stem. She said this type of stroke is generally either fatal or mostly recoverable. Since it was not fatal, we hope it is mostly recoverable.

Mom and Dad say thank you for your tremendous encouragement and for your faithful prayers. The family of God is at war for us once again! We are overwhelmed by your love!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!

1/3 Wednesday Davy Update

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in with an update on Dad. Mom sent me some information to share with you today.

Yesterday was a busy day for my parents. The activity started early in the morning and lasted until nighttime. We are thankful for a good, productive day!

They inserted the feeding tube into my Dad's stomach around 8:30 yesterday morning. This tube can easily be removed when he is able to eat and swallow. Speaking of that, he is still unable to swallow, but the therapist is confident it will come.

Late last evening, he was moved from the ICU into a room.
He received his first nourishment around 10:30 last night. They fed it to him very slowly to see how he handled it overnight. I should have information on that tomorrow.

There is not A Word For Wednesday today. If you missed a special audio message, bringing you up to date from Dad yesterday. Listen and share this message.

Friends, God is hearing and answering our prayers! Thank you for all your prayers, calls and messages! Your love and encouragement mean a lot to us!

1/1 Davy Monday Update

Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking in from the hospital. I am posting from my phone in case the font and formatting look crazy.

If you missed the post from earlier today, please click here to see it. Below is the latest update from Mom about Dad. We appreciate all the love and prayers!

We have had a full day of doctors in and out, scans and tests. We just finished a session with the lady helping with Davy’s swallowing. Even though he’s not swallowing, she has much hope.

There is a chance we will do in patient therapy, but some of the doctors on the team are pushing for a temporary feeding tube to get us home as soon as possible, maybe this week.

There are many things that will need to be in place for us to go home but they are all doable. Going home means going to Odie’s house. She has made it available to us.

Thanks again for your continued prayers! God is helping us day by day.

Odie

Please Continue Praying

Hey Friends,

Odie here on this fine Monday morning. Happy New Year! We are beginning 2024 with a prayer request.

I posted this information here yesterday. I know that we often have readers on Monday who are not able to tune in on Sunday.

As most of you probably know, our view is not what we expected today. We planned on beginning revival at First Pentecostal Church in London, Kentucky, for Pastor Vernon Jarvis. Unfortunately, we are not going to make it to London this week.

My dad had a health situation arise about noon on Friday. The medical experts feel like he had a stroke.

Many of you have already been praying and communicating with us. We appreciate it very much. We are needing and we are expecting a miracle from the Lord. Please have your churches pray for us this week and continuing into the foreseeable future.

If you have our numbers, you are welcome to contact us. We will communicate as possible.

Thank you for stopping by today.

Plans and Prayer

Monday night was Thanksgiving Fellowship Service at Junction Hill and the last night of revival. The Lord blessed us all in a great way and we are thankful for it. It was wonderful to see so many friends and to experience a visitation from the Lord.

We will try to put up pictures of the last few services later in the week, probably on Friday.

We are planning to travel today IF the weather does not prevent it. There has been some severe weather predicted in our path and we want to make sure we are clear of that before we depart. By God's grace, we will be making our way toward Tennessee and our flights to Africa.

I would love for you to pray for my Dad, Eugene Boggs today and the next few days.

Dad will be having a surgical procedure late this morning and we are asking the Lord to help him through it. God is able to guide the process and quicken his recovery. Thank you for taking time to pray for my parents. I know that they are in God's hands and I also know that is the safest place for them to be.

Thank you for checking in today.

Good News On Water

I would love for you to pray for my Dad, Eugene Boggs. He is facing serious difficulty with his health and needs a miracle. I appreciate those of you that take prayer seriously. May God bless you, friends.

Good News On Water
I mentioned one week ago that we had decided to fund the bore-hole for water at Landmark Christ Mission in the city of Ibadan for Pastor Stephen Kuye and his congregation. He told me later that the geologist expects to find water about 100 meters down.

I am happy to say that the well is now fully funded and we will be able to deliver the resources to Pastor Kuye when we travel to Nigeria in less than two weeks. We are so happy to be able to do this for the church and for the Muslim community around them. This should provide an open door for ministry. Hallelujah!

KJo has been working diligently to purchase everything we need and to pack the suitcases properly. It is quite a chore to get everything correct and keep each bag at no more than 50 lbs. Kelly is a pro and I am thankful to have her on my team.

We have one more revival beginning Friday and going through Monday night. When that is concluded, we will drive the bus to the Knoxville, Tennessee area for our flights to Nigeria.

We are slightly excited to return IF you have not noticed. Thank you for praying for us.

Searching For Water In Nigeria

Pastor Stephen Kuye was one of the first men we met on our first visit to Nigeria in 2007. He was with Bro. Shobanke when he came to pick us up at the airport in Lagos.

2009

Pastor Kuye was one of Bro. Shobanke's first converts many, many years ago and he has pastored in the city of Ibadan for decades. We preached a Gospel Crusade for him in 2009 and we have preached in the church several times through the years.

His church is Landmark Christ Mission and is smack dab in the middle of a Muslim neighborhood. He told me several years ago that about 80% of his church are converted Muslims.

2009

2012

2018

We were able to help them with the roof on their new church in 2009 and with other items in later years. It has been a joy to work with Pastor Stephen Kuye and his people through the years and we count him as a dear friend.

We received an email from him yesterday detailing the water situation at the church. This is part of it below.

In the community where we are, there is no drinking water. We always struggle to get water, in particular when the church is preparing for annual camp conference and some other special church program and the struggling is too much. We are praying to get bore-hole water. This bore-hole will cost us $2,000 US dollars.

We decided immediately to take care of this expense for them even if we have to dip into our general operating fund for part of it. It is a small price for us to pay to help them have water. I do not know if the water would be drinkable by our standards, much of the city water in Nigeria is not.

That is among the questions I have asked, but either way, they need water and we can help them do it. I believe the Lord places resources in our hands for things like this because He knows we will pass it along.

The excitement in our hearts is building as our Nigeria trip gets nearer. We can hardly wait. Bro. Shobanke emailed the flyers for the Conference and the Crusade and seeing the flyers amped up the eagerness to go even more.

Thank you for stopping in today.

An Active And Productive Week

Please pray for the situation in Israel.

Our week began Monday morning at the Illinois Welcome Center on I-70 West just across the line from Indiana.  The night had been nice and cool so we did not need air conditioning. We almost needed a little heat.

Although I was up way too early, we did not start super early because we were only about 2.5 hours from St. Louis and we did not want to hit the city during rush hour.

We eased around the south side of St. Louis and headed southwest on I-44 with no problems. The weather was perfect and the traffic was not bad. We fueled up at Love's in Rolla, Missouri and stopped for the night at a large rest area near Conway, Missouri.

We drove 342 miles Monday.

The schedule for Tuesday was light, so we did not leave the rest area until after 9:00 AM. We arrived at Lambert's Cafe about 10:00 41 miles from the rest area.

We enjoyed a super great meal and then rested in the bus another hour or so before finishing the drive to Coachlight RV Park in Carthage, Missouri. The full mileage for the day was only 112 miles. Yay! We are now about 677 miles from home.

In years past we stayed in this park a bunch in our two previous fifth wheels. In fact, we ordered our Kountry Star Fifth Wheel next door at Coachlight RV.

The last time we stayed here may have been in June 2015.

That was a lot of miles ago.

The last two days were set aside here at Coachlight RV Park to work on our 990 Form for the IRS. As a 501c3, Boggs Family Ministries is required to complete a 990 by May 15 or November 15 with an extension.

It takes us a complete day to gather the information and fill out the form online and file it electronically. Filing online is mandatory so we pay a company to file it after we have filled it out. Their software is clunky, but it checks for errors and is very helpful. The price is completely reasonable.

Using their software has helped us tremendously. The reoccurring information is saved from year to year. That saves quite a bit of time. They make a few changes each year and we often need to go back and run through a section again.

KJo and I are getting better at this each year. Part of the improvement is that we know the information the IRS is looking for and we are getting better and saving the details in the proper format.

About the time we get it down pat, the gov'ment will change it up!

We took another full day to catch up on ministry and personal bookwork. We were so close to being completely finished when we quit Thursday night.

We are about 140 miles from Bethany Holiness Church and we plan to finish the trip this morning. The first service is tonight and we need to get there, settle in and get our sound set up. As far as I know, we will only be singing and Bro. Randy Webb will carry the preaching load.

Thank you for stopping in today.

Tent Revival Coming Up

Early this year when I was pretty sick, I knew I needed to work smarter not harder in 2023 IF I was going to make it through the year in one piece AND finish on the right side of the ground.

One of the things we did was cancel the next four revivals beginning the last Sunday in January. I hated to do it, but all of the Pastors were very understanding and the four weeks with no preaching and no singing went a long way toward getting me back on my feet.

We did go to church 3-5 times each week, enjoying services and being fed by various Pastors. That was a big boost to us as well.

The second decision was to cancel almost all of our scheduled tent revivals for the year. I really hated to do that, but I knew in my heart it was the best decision.

We kept the three day tent revival in Vermont. They set up their own tent, it is not super hot weather and it is only three services. We handled that fine although I did get a glimpse of what it was going to feel like to handle our sound equipment each night.

The final tent revival of the year and the only one using our tent is coming up September 17-22 in Richton, Mississippi. I kept that one on the schedule for a few reasons.

1. It was late in the year and gave me the most time to be in better form physically.
2.  We have set our tent up there multiple times and the Richton folks know the routine and how best to help.
3.  Pastor Scott Morris has the same vision for tent revival as me and I do not have to carry that weight.

Bro. Morris has checked several times to make sure I am up for tent revival and I appreciate his kindness and thoughtfulness. However, I want to try and I believe we are ready.

By God's grace, the tent will go up in the air on Saturday, September 16 and we are excited. Please pray for our strength and for the power of God to touch lives in Richton, Mississippi.

You are welcome to come be with us too! Bro. Jimmie Radcliffe is hoping to be able to come and that would be an awesome bonus.

Thank you for reading, dear friends.

5 Years And Still Thankful

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in from my Ohio Beach Cottage. I am happy to be home for a quick visit. We have a busy weekend and week on the books. Check back in the coming days to see our fun with family and friends.

June 1st was the 5th anniversary since I officially moved into my Beach Cottage. Here is a picture from that first night.

It does not feel like it has not been that long. I am so grateful for the beautiful place to call my home! In the last 5 years, so much has happened in the world and in my life. It has been a major blessing to have my own safe place!

The entire home is a series of miracles! I do not want to forget God’s provision! The love and support from my family and friends turned a dream into a reality. My heart still overflows with gratitude!

Many of you reading this post played a role in helping us build my home. Thank you one more time from the bottom of my heart. I thank God for you! I still pray for God to bless you abundantly!

This week marked another 5th house anniversary for me. August 17th, 2018. We were joined by many of the incredible people that help us build my home for house tours and dedication. It was a privilege to show off my finished miracle. We had a sweet dedication on my front porch!

That evening was fantastic. We had friends from near and far come to celebrate with us. Lots of prayers, money, blood, sweat, tears and work brought us to that moment. It was an extraordinary day of memories that still warms my heart!

I encourage you to read this archived blog post here. Dad summed up the wonderful dedication day in an excellent way. Below is just a sampling of photos from that night that are special to me.

I will never forget the love I experienced that day! I am blessed beyond measure! I just wanted to pause for a moment to thank God for His unspeakable gift of my beautiful home!

Thank you for joining me as I stroll down memory lane. Here is a small tour of the front portion of my home. This was recorded during our 2020 online covid revival.

See you next week.

Schedule Change and Bro. Shobanke

Schedule Change
We have had a change in our schedule concerning the near future. We never know when someone is planning to visit us, so I need to let you know.

Over the weekend we received bad news that shook us. Pastor Ben Shoemaker called to tell us they had an accident at the church in Thomasville, Alabama that included an electrical fire and one of the men getting burned.

I did not ask for permission to give his name so I will not at this time. One of the church men spent several days in the hospital for burns and faces a long recovery. We are praying that he heals completely without longterm difficulties.

Although the brother that was injured, heroically put out the fire and called for help, the power is off at the church and the building has a lot of smoke damage. They had recently finished a remodel of the sanctuary so it is a double blow.

We were scheduled to begin revival for Bro. Shoemaker two weeks from this coming Sunday and of course, that is understandably not possible at this time. Pastor Shoemaker was concerned about us losing a revival and I appreciate that, but canceling was the right thing to do.

The last thing they need at this time is the pressure of a visiting preacher coming to town in two weeks. They will have enough on their plate as it is. Please pray for Ben, Deidre and the church in Thomasville, Alabama.

Update On Bro. Shobanke
Bro. Shobanke came through surgery on his neck and he is recovering well. He was released this week to his son's house in the Dayton area and we were able to see him yesterday evening on our way to church last night.

I can not describe how thrilled I was to see my friend again and pray with him.

I had talked to him in the hospital on the phone and I could hear that he was a little stronger, but I was comforted to see him face to face. Bro. Shobanke has a long way to go and I would love if you would pray for my dear friend. He is weak and unable to do things he needs to do.

He is scheduled to return to Nigeria soon and his son, Emmanuel, is planning to accompany him home. That is a huge blessing.

Thank you. I think that brings us up to date.

Prayer Requests and A Few Pictures

Hello, friends! It is Thursday and we will be traveling today by God's grace. We should have less than 300 miles to travel to Lowell, Vermont and most of it is supposed to be interstate. Hopefully, all goes well and we pull in safely this evening. We will be praying for sure.

While we are driving and praying, we will also be praying for others too. Our dear friend, Bro. Shobanke came to Ohio to visit his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter this summer. We are looking forward to seeing him when we arrive in Ohio in a week or so.

However, he has been very feeble. His family had to take him to the emergency room last week and he had surgery on his neck yesterday.

I heard yesterday afternoon that the surgery was completed. The doctor said previously that he would need additional surgery at a later date. Please pray for my friend! My parents went to see him Tuesday.

Odie had a couple of friends visit her while she was sitting outside one day.

Here are a few more pictures from the week.

Our plan is to make our way to Vermont for three services of tent revival. Pastor DiZazzo will have a small tent set up and we will set up our sound system each night and have church by the help of God.

After the final service Sunday, they will have a big dinner and we will begin the long trip home. If all goes well, we should be pulling into the barn next Wednesday or Thursday.

Our generator is still not reliable so the next seven days will be interesting. We are asking the Lord to help us. Thank you for praying.

Thank you for stopping by.

Generating Low Voltage

I mentioned our ongoing generator issue yesterday and that generated some questions. Pun intended.

Main question? What is the problem?

The problem is that our generator does not produce enough voltage sometimes. It does decently well for a few hours, but then the voltage level on both sides gets lower and lower until the inverters go into error and we have no Air Conditioning or electricity for anything else.

We ran the generator for 54 continuous hours while traveling last week and for most of that time, we had enough power for one AC and almost nothing else. We certainly had no power for cooking or for hot water.

Saturday night it would not produce enough voltage for any Air Conditioning and we spent a hot night in a rest area. I got almost no sleep. That is not gonna work all summer long. Our schedule this summer is going to take us to several places where we must use the generator for power.

I emailed the generator manufacturer and the owner suggested removing the generator and bringing it to them. They would diagnose it when they could get to it. Ugh!

Another guy, who came well recommended, is not familiar with this brand of generator and felt like the complicated electrical system on our bus conversion was above his pay grade. I really appreciate his honesty.

He did think it may be a fuel issue, the same diagnosis as Jeff Rowe, and suggested a fuel pump. I will look into that.

I have the number of another well recommended generator guy that I will try today. It is not really a problem of money. We have money saved for new tires this year and we can easily dip into that to cover the expense. It is finding someone capable and available.

Would you ask God to guide us? This is important to us this summer. Thank you and we appreciate you stopping by.

Endurance For The Road Ahead!

The BoggsMobile is in the shop, The Boggs Family is in a hotel in Oak Ridge while we are in revival at Beechfork Holiness Church near Wartburg, Tennessee. The Lord was near us on the first night of revival and we are thankful.

Will you continue to pray for us? We have no complaints. The Lord has been very good to us. However, I am not nearly as strong as I need to be. Three or four days in a row with lots of driving or other activity is enough to prove to me that I need more strength to preach and travel.

I was honestly dragging all day Tuesday and Wednesday, although I had enough energy to preach the first night of revival Wednesday. I know that God is able to heal me completely and we are asking Him to do it.

I will be busy with bus stuff all next week, but I will not be preaching Monday through Friday. Maybe that will help. I would rather preach than deal with bus stuff, but it is part of staying on the road. It must be done.

Thank you for praying for us and for taking the time to drop by each day. May God bless you for your kindness toward us.

Davy

The Lord Has Been Mighty Good to Us!

We are receiving questions every day about my breathing and strength so I need to answer publicly.

The Lord Has Been Mighty Good to Us!

Although my strength is not what I would like it to be, I am stronger than I was even last week. I need to be much stronger to comfortably be able to sing and preach seven times each week, keep the bus going, set up sound and all the rest, not to mention travel between revivals.

To preach each night requires me to do almost absolutely nothing during the day. If I was having to work on a bus project every day, I would be in a pinch. I believe that more strength will come.

I have ministered every service (5) since Sunday morning without using supplemental oxygen while in the pulpit. Most days my O2 saturation has been good and only dropped a few times for a few minutes.

In full disclosure, I am still using a daily inhaler to help me breathe. I am not sure what happens when I quit taking it. As I get stronger, I will eliminate the inhaler over time and find out.

As I mentioned Monday, I am having some trouble with my hip and leg which seems like sciatica pain. I am calling it my psychotic nerve.😢😁 I would appreciate you helping me pray for relief in that area too.

I have rearranged much of our late spring and early summer schedule. We have removed the tent revivals and deleted some miles and we hope that helps. Shortly after we made those decisions, we received some invitations that were completely unexpected and we have been able to insert some of those meetings.

As I said, God has been good to us and we have no complaints at all. Thank you for praying for us sincerely and fervently over the last few months. May God bless you for pulling me through by prayer. We will never forget it.

Thank you for reading today.

Sunday Morning Sanity 2/26/23

After four weeks of trying to recover, we are beginning revival this morning in Ellisville, Mississippi. I honestly do not know if I am physically capable of preaching and singing every night, but that is OK. We are not trusting in our strength, we are trusting in the strength of God. He is able.

Will you pray for us and have others pray for us today and in the coming days?
