A Few Pictures From The Week 6/30/23

This week has flown by and it is amazing that the weekend is upon us again. We plan to be back at Dryden Rd. Sunday morning and at Anchor of Hope in Lebanon Sunday evening. Come be in service with us if you can.

Odie started her week off right with a trip to Acapulco with friends and thankfully she remembered a few pictures for the record.

And a picture of a casserole she made on Tuesday.

We were up early Wednesday morning to drive about an hour and forty minutes to the Eastern Indian Pentecostal Fellowship for their annual camp meeting. We are not usually home during this time of year and we wanted to go.

Pastor Dwain Galiher was preaching the day service and Pastor Wade Hicks was conducting the service. Bro. Galiher really spoke to us and we praise God for His preaching. We were blessed to see quite a few friends and we enjoyed the day.

I posted pictures from Wednesday afternoon yesterday and I will have a few from Thursday next week sometime.

Most of our time all week was spent conducting tests on the generator trying to get to the bottom of the problem before we take off for the northeast soon. It is not fixed and I am not certain that anyone really understands everything that is going on, but it MIGHT be doing a bit better.

Odie had some FaceTime church with Rev. Charles Shoemaker

Thursday night we were present at Dryden Rd. to hear Bro. Andrew Blevins preach and it was awesome.

Most of our anniversaries have been celebrated in revival, camp meeting or youth camp. This year we are home, but we were in church.

That wraps up our week. Thank you for joining us for a while today.

Pictures From The Week and A Fire Breathing Dragon

This week has been a few days of traveling so we have very few people pictures and more bus pictures. It just happens to be our week. I hope you enjoy.

Monday morning, we began in Moore, Oklahoma and I told you Tuesday about traveling to Stafford, Missouri to have our generator problem diagnosed. After leaving the campground Tuesday morning, we pulled into the APU Center at about 7:40.

They had me back the BoggsMobile into the bay a few minutes after 8:00. KJo and Odie had to vacate the bus and go into the waiting room

Although, as the name suggests, they mostly work on APUs in big trucks, they seem very capable in all things generator. They approached the problem methodically and systematically and ultimately determined the generator is fine in their opinion.

They think the lowering voltage is caused by something further down the line, perhaps the inverters. They may be absolutely correct, but the experts on inverters disagree. Maybe time will tell the whole truth. I am still testing and investigating.

The APU Center worked diligently and charged me fairly for the hours they spent on the generator. The things they found and the determination they made were sensible to me, so I was satisfied with the visit even though I wanted everything to be resolved.

We hit the road before noon and drove about 280 miles for the day. St. Louis traffic was a breeze and we ended the day in a small roadside campground in Vandalia, Illinois. The front of the bus was about 6' from the road and the back of the car was not far from a good looking corn field.

They also had a fire breathing dragon.

The sun was high in the sky before we started Wednesday and we stopped at Golden Corral in Effingham, Illinois for an early lunch. This location used to be a Ryan's pre-covid, but closed and reopened as it is. The food was good and the sights were better. This 65' GTO was parked out front!

Our travel day Wednesday was littered with one lane construction zones in eastern Illinois and a huge slowdown in Indianapolis. We lost over an hour in Indy and 50 minutes in one 6 mile section. Ouch!

I was sorely tempted to spend the night at Love's 100 miles from home, but it was too hot and the generator is not cooperating. There was no sense being miserable all night so we pressed on. We pulled onto the Lazy OD Ranch about 8:00 PM after 316 miles Wednesday and about 900 miles since leaving Moore on Monday.

Odie had a few friends and family visit on her porch Wednesday evening.

That is about it for the week, except for a few more random food pictures.

That pretty much wraps up our weekend. I was beat up Thursday from the drive and I did absolutely nothing all day long. I never even stepped foot outside the BoggsMobile. A few more days of that and I may live.

Thank you for stopping in.

A Plan For Tuesday and Beyond

Edit: Added a few pictures
Sunday was a late night for us so we did not break any records leaving Crosslight Chapel in Moore on Monday morning. We had 300 miles to travel and a good weather forecast for the whole day. We were in no hurry.

It was a beautiful travel day with absolutely no bus trouble and one small traffic delay east of Joplin on I-44. OKC and Tusla were easy-peasy and we sailed right along. Beautiful I say!

I only stopped once for a short break on the turnpike between Tusla and Joplin and we pulled into an RV park after 308 miles and five hours and 20 minutes. That is a near perfect travel day.

I hear someone say, "RV park? What's up with that? You all hardly ever stay overnight in an RV park?"

Yep, that is absolutely correct. We are only in an RV park because we are having trouble with the generator. It is impossible to spend much time in the bus in summer temperatures without air conditioning and it is impossible to have air conditioning while parked without electricity. With no dependable generator, we need an RV park.

That cramps our travel style and is actually more expensive too. We are parked five miles from the generator shop where we have an appointment for 8:00 AM Tuesday. We paid $58 for the privilege of parking 16 hours on a gravel parking lot with water/sewer and 50 amps.

If we could generate electricity, we would have parked at the truck stop next door to the shop and spent less than $30 of diesel to run the generator for the same time period. But it is actually more about convenience than it is money. Planning our travel days around RV parks is inconvenient at best and impossible some days.

Plus, several places we are supposed to preach this summer have no parking or no electric access at the church and no RV parks anywhere nearby. That puts us in a pickle.

We really need this generator and we are praying this place can diagnose the problem and repair it lickety-split! Last week, while running the generator and checking voltage I noticed one of the electric cooling fans is not working. That will need to be replaced as well.

I hope we have good news by the end of today. We shall see.

Thank you for dropping in.

The Weekend Dispatch 6/12/23

Prayer Request
Pastor EJ Lamb from Ohio was in a serious car accident with his family Saturday. Thank God they were not hurt any more seriously than they were, but it was bad enough. Please pray for them, especially our dear friend, Reese.

Friday
Did you see all of the great pictures from Good Samaritan Youth Camp last week? You can follow the highlighted link to see them. I hope you enjoy. The camp was so good.

The Weekend Dispatch
Friday began early and followed a late night Thursday at youth camp. We rolled out of the bed and went to work preparing to roll our wheels. By 7:30 AM we were navigating our way out of the tricky exit. Thank God we made it, but it is not something I would like to do every week.

We did not hook up the car because of the potential of getting hung up and having to back up to get out. We stopped at a truck stop a few miles down the road and hooked up the Jeep.

We drove a few hours to the Texas Welcome Center on I-20 and then stopped to rest for a while. After two hours, the generator would not cooperate so we started the bus and ran the bus air conditioner for a while. It was near 100 degrees in east Texas.

I have never seen a restaurant accessible from a state-run rest area, but there was one there yesterday.

KJo went in and fetched a menu for us and we ordered a nice meal.

I had intended to rest most of the day and finish our journey Saturday morning, but without the generator running properly, we decided to press on. By His grace, we pulled into Payne Springs Assembly at 5:30 Friday evening.

This is our first time here, but parking was pretty easy. In a few minutes, we were inside cooling down and relaxing for the evening. Praise God!

KJo and I are very glad to be here this weekend. This is where we were headed to this church on January 26th of this year when my breathing deteriorated to the point that I could not go on. I canceled Pastor RC Betz and three other weeks in order to recuperate.

All of the Pastors were completely gracious and I appreciate Bro. Betz welcoming us back. We were only 140 miles from here in January, when we had to turn away. Yes, we are very glad to be here!

We enjoyed three wonderful services over the weekend, Saturday night and both services Sunday. Praise God for visitors in the altar seeking salvation Sunday morning. Hallelujah! The church also had a meal after the morning service and we got a chance to visit with the church folks.

We will post more pictures from the Weekend Revival tomorrow, but we have a few for you now.

After church last night, we loaded up our equipment, cranked the bus with intentions to hook up the Jeep and hit the road toward Oklahoma. I wanted to drive to Gainesville, Texas and make Monday an easy day.

Pastor Betz alerted us to severe weather headed for Dallas and once we checked it out, we decided there was not much sense driving right into very threatening weather. We re-leveled the bus, turned it off and prepared for bed.

We will have to face Dallas traffic on a weekday. I wanted to avoid that, but it is what it is! As you read this, we will probably be neck deep into it. Maybe we will zoom right through.

Thank you for stopping by.
