A Word For Wednesday- Kentucky-God's Impeccable Timing

So glad you joined us today. It is time again for A Word For Wednesday. A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Let's talk again about God's Impeccable Timing. I have a true story today about a man named Bill Murry in Kentucky getting saved in the one and only church service he ever attended. It was an awesome night demonstrating God's perfect timing.

I had been planning the revival for 7-8 years and the revival was held right after Bill was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. God was there right on time.

Thank you for stopping by.

A Word For Wednesday, 50 Reasons Why I Do Not Drink Alcohol, Boggs Family Ministries

Previously on A Word For Wednesday:

Today's Word For Wednesday is meant to stand alone, but it does build on last week's episode entitled, Should We Boycott Anheuser Busch?

So glad you joined us today. It is time again for A Word For Wednesday. A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.
50 Reasons Why I Do Not Drink Alcohol, Boggs Family Ministries

Original Article
below I have listed the 50 Reasons Why I Don't Drink directly from the original article. By Jamie Morgan on January 23, 2017 1. I can't be sober-minded if I'm not sober. 2. Alcohol has an assignment: destruction. 3. Alcohol is a depressant. Anything that depresses should be avoided at all costs. 4. I don't want to make my brother or sister stumble in the name of exercising my "Christian liberties." My choice to drink could lead to someone's demise. 5. Alcohol skews my judgment. 6. Alcohol leaves me worse, not better. 7. What I do in moderation, my children will do in excess. 8. Even the unsaved know I shouldn't drink. Bible in one hand, beer in the other — any lost person could point this out as a confusing contradiction. 9. Alcohol doesn't bring others closer to the Lord when they see me drinking, but further away. 10. Alcohol doesn't bring me closer to the Lord when I drink, but further away. 11. I want to be fully awake and ready for the return of Christ, not drowsy, sluggish, or hung over. 12. Show me a family for whom alcohol has made a positive difference in their lives. You won't be able to. 13. I have never heard anyone say, "Wow, that gin and tonic made me feel so Christlike!" 14. I want to avoid all appearances of evil. 15. Alcohol makes it much harder for me to practice the fruit of self-control. 16. Alcohol causes me to lose my filter. 17. Alcohol is a legal mind-altering drug. 18. Alcohol is addictive. 19. Alcohol is a numbing agent for pain and sorrow only Jesus can heal. 20. Many regrets are associated with alcohol. (I can give you a whole bunch!) 21. No one has ever said, "If only I had taken a drink, things wouldn't have gotten out of control." 22. Alcohol causes me to act in ways I normally wouldn't. 23. Alcohol kills brain cells. 24. Alcohol is a counterfeit and provides a false peace. 25. The Bible says that no drunkards will enter the kingdom of God. Being drunk starts with one drink. I don't want to see how far outside the lines I can color when eternity is at stake. 26. Alcohol is a waster — money, gifts and talents, destinies, and so on. 27. Alcohol leads to really bad behavior. It is a factor in 50 percent of violent crimes. 28. Alcohol distracts and derails you from living the victorious life for which Christ died. 29. Wisdom is the principle thing that I need to pursue at all cost; alcohol makes me stupid. 30. Alcohol has ruined many, many marriages. 31. The only influence I should be "under" is God's. 32. The Bible tells me to be alert; alcohol delays my reaction time. 33. If I don't start drinking, I'll never have to stop. 34. Alcohol severely tarnishes my testimony. 35. Don't want your teenagers to drink? Yep, same reasons apply to you. 36. God is holy; alcohol is not. 37. Alcohol and prayer don't mix. 38. Alcohol and Bible study don't mix. 39. Alcohol lowers my resolve to resist temptation. 40. Alcohol = Brokenness (broken lives, health, dreams, and so on) 41. When the world sees us drinking, it sends the message that Jesus isn't enough. 42. Moderate drinking? How about moderate pornography or moderate heroin use or moderate lying or moderate adultery? 43. Christians are called to live a life of total surrender and separation from the world. 44. Alcohol makes me forget. It can make me forget that I am married, that I am saved, and so on. 45. "I don't get drunk. I only have one or two drinks." If they didn't affect you, you would drink soda. 46. I should never look to the glass or bottle for joy, which can only be found in the Lord Jesus Christ. 47. Alcohol fills my mind with impure thoughts. 48. If it could hinder my faith walk or love walk or dishonor the lordship of Jesus Christ, I need to forsake it. 49. Alcohol doesn't help me run the race that Jesus has marked before me to finish with more accuracy. It does the polar opposite. 50. For any argument that tries to justify Christian drinking, there are at least 50 other reasons not to. The writing is on the wall. It's not God's best for Christians to drink.

A Word For Wednesday-Should We Boycott Anheuser-Busch?

So glad you joined us today. It is time again for A Word For Wednesday. A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Anheuser-Busch has created a public relations nightmare. They made the mistake of assuming that the people that drink their rotten product will go along with whatever they push. Oops! They have underestimated the passion of their core customer and overestimated how far they could push their agenda.

Should we be outraged at Anheuser-Busch? Should we be angry that they have demonstrated how immoral they really are as a company?

I contend that we should have already known that a company that makes billions of dollars selling a substance that categorically and undeniably destroys lives does not have society's best interests at heart. We should already know we do not share values by their willingness to pedal a product that ruins.
This should not surprise us!

What do you think? Thank you for stopping by today.

A Word For Wednesday - Tone It Down For Unity Sake

So glad you joined us today. It is time again for A Word For Wednesday, A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

If I understand the situation correctly, Martin Luther said this when he was asked to tone down one or two of his pointed messages for the sake of unity.

If I profess with the loudest voice and clearest exposition every portion of the Word of God, except precisely that little point which the world and the devil are at that point attacking, I am not confessing Christ, however boldly I may be professing Christ. Where the battle rages, there the loyalty of the soldier is tested. To be steady in all the battlefields besides is mere flight and disgrace, if the soldier flinches at that one point.

There are times, situations and circumstances when we must carefully and with love stand for right, even when all around us are standing against the truth.

The prophet Isaiah told of us our day and warned against compromising.
Isaiah 5:20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Bible believers knew this day was coming. We have seen glimpses of that prophecy for many years. We seem to be fully there now. Men calling evil good and good evil, putting darkness for light and light for darkness and putting bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. That is a perfect description of the USA in 2023. Wow!

The Bible believing church and Bible believing preachers are preaching the exact same things we have always preached. Suddenly because morals are now upside down, we are the bad guys. We have not changed our message, but now our speech is hate speech.

Things that most of the world considered immoral a few years ago, now are considered acceptable. In fact, they are so acceptable, that if the church does not promote them, the church must be canceled and destroyed.

Evil is good and good is evil. Yet Isaiah said, Woe unto them that do that!

We must stand for the details of God's Word even if the media and the world are against us. That is much easier said than done, but we must begin somewhere.

God, give me the courage to defend the precise point that is being attacked by the devil and give me the wisdom to do it correctly.

Pray for me. Thank you and thank you for reading.

A Word For Wednesday, The Forgetful Farmer

So glad you joined us today. It is time again for A Word For Wednesday, A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

The Forgetful Farmer is introduced to us by Christ in Luke 12 during a warning about coveting.

Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully:
17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

I first preached on The Forgetful Farmer over twenty years ago. My notes say it was adapted from "Preacher's Gold Mine" page 41. I have not idea how much I gleaned from the little outline book so I give the points to you exactly from my notes.

I While Thinking of His Gifts, He Forgot the Giver
II While Thinking of Himself, He Forgot His Neighbor
III While Thinking of His Body, He Forgot His Soul
IV While Thinking of His Life, He Forgot His Mortality

I hope you enjoy this and share it with someone else. Thank you for stopping by today.

A Word For Wednesday-Bridling The Tongue

So glad you joined us today. It is time again for A Word For Wednesday, A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.

One of the most difficult things we will ever do is control our tongue. James has much to say about undiscipline in areas of speech. If a man does not bridle his tongue, that man's religion is vain. It is worthless.

As Christians, we must control our speech.

Thank you for watching today.

A Word For Wednesday - Who Sets The Bar?

So glad you joined us today. It is time again for A Word For Wednesday, A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Who sets the bar we should live up to? Us or God? Jesus said Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Matthew 5:48

Popular religious jargon says you can not be perfect. There is no need to try to be perfect. Jesus say be ye therefore perfect. Who is right? I will choose Jesus over a man, a ministry or a movement any day of the week.

Who sets the bar we should live up to? Us or God?

Thank you for stopping by today.

A Word For Wednesday - Divine Conditions For Forgiveness

It is time again for A Word For Wednesday, A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Did you know that forgiveness can be revoked by God? According to Jesus, our forgiven sins can be brought to bear on us IF we walk in unforgiveness. Ouch!

Matthew 18:21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Thank you for stopping by today.

A Word For Wednesday - Divine Instruction Concerning Forgiveness

It is time again for A Word For Wednesday, A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Matthew 6:14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

If we refuse to forgive those that have wronged us, our Father will refuse to forgive us when we ask Him to forgive us. That gives me even more incentive to have a forgiving disposition.

Forgiveness is difficult at times, but Corrie Ten Boom teaches us that forgiveness is an act of the will. Forgiving can bring us closer to God with more intensity than anything else.

It is better to give than it is to receive can apply to forgiveness and not just money!

Thank you for stopping by today.

A Laugh Down Memory Lane

 Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking in from Alabama today. Thank you for visiting with us.

Did you catch Dad's A Word For Wednesday yesterday? I know many of you enjoy Dad's weekly videos. It is always good to hear your feedback. Click the video below for this week's episode.

Odie Gets The Shakes

Yesterday I wandered down our YouTube channel's memory lane. One of our most popular videos is a funny one! I figured today was a good day to remind you of this funny church moment caught on camera. It is worth watching again!

This is a classic Odie stunt. I am super jumpy! Yes, I am laughing at myself! Please check it out. You are welcome to laugh with me.

This was at Anchor of Hope in Lebanon, Ohio, with Pastor EJ Lamb.

When it happened, I forgot the moment was online for the world to see. The next day Mom told Dad what happened. He immediately pulled up the Anchor of Hope YouTube channel and found it.

Dad created our video to forever have it in our memory bank. We laughed for hours then. Now those hours have turned into years, and we will never stop!😂😂I was showing it to friends just last night after a kid accidentally made me jump.

Below I posted what Dad wrote in the video description. I think it sums up the "Odie Get's The Shakes" moment well.

"At the end of the service, Pastor EJ Lamb is calling people to the front for prayer. (Socially Distant Prayer, of course)
His microphone is not in Odie's ear monitor, but mine is. She is sitting there listening and when I say "Yes" in my microphone it is directly in her ear and she nearly jumps out of her wheelchair. I have been telling people for years how easily startled Odie is. Now you have visual evidence over and over and over again. 🥰 🥰 This is posted with Odie's complete permission. She said, Laugh away!"

Our dear friend Bro. Kelly Rogers informed me last year that their family often has fun with this video. I am happy that I can help them laugh. I am also glad we can laugh about our good memories.

Hopefully, this helps you smile today! See you next time.

A Word For Wednesday, The Blessings of Cloudy Days

It is time again for A Word For Wednesday. This morning, I am posting A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Overcast days will come into every life. With the clouds comes doubt, despair and even depression. But we must realize there may be blessings in cloudy days.

I was reminded of a song that used to minister to me and lift me thirty years ago. It may seem depressing at first, but it was remarkably accurate in what I was experiencing.   -You turn to face the morning -You can feel the rain -Before you even look outside -Through a cloudy windowpane -You're reminded of the grey -You feel inside -You cry, "God, I can't go on -Will time ever heal the wounds -I feel I can't hold on another day   When I first heard that I thought the songwriter was looking right
into my soul. Then comes the encouragement -When a mountain of sorrow -Leaves a river of heartache -In a valley of darkness -That you don't understand -Take the high road to Heaven -At the crossroad of Calvary -To the refuge of Jesus -Lay it all in His hands -And let it go

The song is Mountain of Sorrow written by Jim Chapman and Tony Elenburg and sung by Heirloom.

Anyone understand that song?
Do you feel the rain before you even look outside?
Through a cloudy windowpane, you’re reminded of the gray you feel inside.

There is a purpose for the gray.
There are blessings in the cloudy days.

Thank you for reading today.

A Word For Wednesday-The End Is Not Yet!

It is time again for A Word For Wednesday. This morning, I am posting A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

Do not get shook up! See that ye be not troubled. All these things much come to pass, but the end is not yet.

God is not finished working this out! The end is not yet!

Matthew 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

I hope you enjoy A Word For Wednesday!
