The Weekend Dispatch 3/4/24

We had another great weekend and lived to tell about it. ❤️

We had another good day of therapy on Friday. I know I mention therapy every week, but it is an important part of our lives at the moment. We really appreciate the therapists that are helping us and I am making progress. Praise God!

Friday we had a dear friend visit in the afternoon and then we visited with family some Friday evening and for a few hours on Saturday.

Sunday we went to Dryden Rd. for Sunday School and a baptismal service following. The teaching was great and it was wonderful to see several people baptized.

It has been a while since we have been involved in a baptismal service and we enjoyed it very much.

Odie captured some great pictures.

Sunday afternoon about 2 o’clock we actually sat outside on the west facing porch for a little while. It was a little nippy in the shade, but once we were in the sun, it was almost too warm.

I am sure we will have some cold weather yet to come, but it sure was nice to be able to sit outside for a little while. Whoever designed the porches on this house, sure is smart.

Cousin Lisa walked over from the church and talked with us for a few minutes. We love Lisa and it is always great to see her.

That sums up our weekend. Tomorrow we start with therapy again. I am sure that will be exciting and probably exhausting. That is as it should be.

Please remember that we plan to begin A Word for Wednesday again on March 6, two days from now. The video should post at 6 AM Eastern time as normal.

I hope you have a great week.

The Weekend Dispatch 3/26/24

Welcome to our weekend. We will begin our story on Friday.

Friday was a day of therapy as usual. It was my 10th day of therapy since being dismissed from inpatient therapy so it was a day of evaluation mostly.

I was tested and evaluated in both physical therapy and occupational therapy and they were pleased with the results. I will tell you more about that tomorrow.

Friday afternoon we visited with dear friends and Saturday Kelly‘s parents came.

Sunday was a little busier than we would have liked, but it was a necessary busy. The morning began with Sunday school and church at Dryden Rd. The service included communion and we enjoyed it very much.

After church we went home, had a quick lunch and then we were off to Richmond, Kentucky for my Aunt Madaline's visitation.

We arrived a few minutes ahead of the official start time, hoping to beat the majority of the crowd, but we did not. The crowd was already huge. It is amazing how many people were there to honor Aunt Madaline. Wow!

To my surprise, the Director took us to the front of the line and I visited with my aunt's immediate family. My heart was broken for my cousins. I sure wish I could be with them today,

Then we made our way toward the back greeting cousins as we went. I visited with my brother and dad outside and a few other cousins for a few minutes and then we made our way toward Ohio.

It is two hours to Richmond and two hours home. That is the longest I have been in a car by far since my hospitalization and I was not sure that I could make it. KJo did the driving of course and I seem to have tolerated it OK. I will know more about it in a few days.

Today is another important day at therapy and I am excited for it.

Thank you for joining us today.

Weekend Dispatch 2/19/24

Today we finally have a Mile Marker that resembles a weekend dispatch more than anything we have posted for quite a while. Thank you for joining us today.

Friday, KJo drove me to therapy by nine and we were finished by noon as usual. All three sessions were great, but the physical therapy was the most memorable.

As a measuring stick, they wanted to see how far I could walk using the walker in six minutes. I could stop and rest at any time, but I walked continually the whole six minutes in the hallways and they said I walked 812 feet. It is not too far but super great for me! Hallelujah!

The therapist was pleased and so I was pleased. We will try to improve to 1000 feet in six minutes in the future and then 1000 feet with a cane, if necessary and then 1000 feet unassisted.

Saturday passed for what has become a normal day around here. I spent it exercising and doing therapy and watching the day go by. Eventually, the day does end and the long night begins.

Yesterday, we dressed up in our Sunday Best and went to Dryden Rd, our home church. It was great to be back and we enjoyed it very much. We heard our Pastor teach Sunday school and Brother Andrew Blevins preached.

Odie snapped a few pictures.

Sunday afternoon we had a visit from KJo’s parents and a visit from my parents. That brings us up to today, another day of therapy and taking one step at a time.

Thank you for reading today.

A Day At Disciples Gospel Mission, Abeokuta, Nigeria

Today we have some great pictures from a church we had never visited before. We had been invited to preach at Disciples Gospel Mission in Abeokuta not all that far from Bro. Shobanke's church.

Several years ago I met Pastor Rufus at a Minister's Conference at Christ Ambasssadors Holiness Church.

Pastor Rufus was the Convenor (MC) of the Minister's Conference at least a couple years. He a soft spoken man with a gentle spirit. This year we were privileged to preach in his church on our last Sunday here.

We had a wonderful visit at Disciples Gospel Mission on Sunday. They received us warmly and we enjoyed their great hospitality. We love going into new places and they made it super comfortable for us.

Pastor Oluwasola Adeola Adeboye was present to interpret for me on Sunday. He worked with me every sermon but two the whole time we have been in Nigeria. He really does a super great job and I enjoy working with him.

KJo and Sis. Mary, the Pastor's wife.

Sunday afternoon we spent some more time with Bro. Shobanke and some of his family. We dearly love these folks.

That wraps up our Sunday. The next few days we will post pictures from the Outdoor Gospel Crusade. Thank you for stopping in today.
