A Word For Wednesday, A Well of Water-Testimony

So glad you joined us today. It is time again for A Word For Wednesday. A few moments ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. Please give it a listen and leave us a comment here or on YouTube.

A church and community needed water badly and now they have water! Praise God! I received a video of the well on Christmas Eve!

The church that needed water is Landmark Christ Mission and the Pastor is our dear friend, Pastor Stephen Kuye. By God's grace and the help of His people, we were able to take resources to drill a well on their property. They struck water at 100 meters down! They are so happy and my heart is overjoyed.

Now they have an abundant supply of water for their church and for the muslim community around their church in Ibadan, Nigeria. Hallelujah!

Thank you for joining us today.

Bro. E. Ade Shobanke and His/My Family

We have been aware of Bro. Shobanke since the 1990s.

Bro. Shobanke December 2023

He visited our home church during that time. I did not see him because I was working second shift that week, but he made a big impression on our family and on our church.

I did see him at Highway of Holiness in Hamilton, Ohio about that same time, but I did not get to meet him or speak to him personally.

Fast forward several years to the fall of 2006. We were preaching revival for Pastor Bob Goodwin in Neosho, Missouri. Pastor James Fellers came to the revival and brought Bro. Shobanke with him.

We met that night and he invited me to Nigeria to preach. I literally laughed out loud! I could not even imagine traveling to Nigeria, let alone imagining that I had anything profitable to say. I was totally unqualified for such an assignment and therefore found it amusing.

Long story short, we were in Nigeria within one year and utterly lost our hearts there! We have been back many times over the next 16 years and we have been blessed to be a conduit of blessings to God's people in Nigeria.

We have come alongside them in building churches, starting and operating a school and seeing many people saved and discipled. We have loved every moment of it.

Having Bro. Shobanke befriend me has opened a world to me that we would have never known and we have lived a much richer life because of it.  Praise God for it.

His people have become my people, his friends my friends and his family have become my special family. We love his children and his grandchildren so very much.

On this latest trip we were able to spend a little time with them and we enjoyed their fellowship and friendship so much. Sis. Rebecca, Sis. Ruth and brother Samuel treat me like their own brother and I love them just like that. They are family and I am blessed to know them.

The spouses of Bro. Shobanke's children are also family to us. We love them much as well.

We took a few pictures of the Shobanke family while in Nigeria and I am posting most of them for the first time today. Please enjoy.

Thank you for stopping in.

GoodNews Christian School Christmas Program Abeokuta, Nigeria

We were invited as guests of honor to the GoodNews Christian School's Christmas program in Abeokuta and we were delighted to attend. It was a super great day and we have many pictures for you.

In 2009 Bro. Shobanke shared with me his vision of starting a Christian School. His wife had dreamed of a school, but she had passed several years before and they had never been able to fulfill it.

In 2009 their daughters Rebecca and Ruth were grown and educated and they were ready to carry the heavy load of bringing the vision of a Christian School to pass.

I immediately caught the vision and we made a three-year pledge toward the establishment and fulfillment of GoodNews Christian School.

The school opened as K-6 and operated like that for several years, eventually adding grades and have been K-12 for a few years. This school year they have seniors that started in kindergarten at their school!

We have helped them build several buildings and they are right now constructing another building so they will have laboratories for the high school students. We have pictures of the foundation at the end of this post.

The school has more than doubled since our last visit and they now have more than 200 students. Wow! It was a beautiful group!

The day was lovely and I hope you will enjoy each picture with some running commentary along the way.

In addition to these pictures, we have posted a video on our YouTube channel with pictures and video clips from the Christmas program.

We received a wonderful welcome from the students.

The Christmas program began with worship, scripture and Christmas Carols.

Each age level made a presentation to the program.

The Twelve Days of Christmas was beautiful.

The Christmas story

I was tasked with a short Christmas Word. I asked them to remember that Christ came for each of them, "Christmas Is For Me."

A second presentation of the Christmas Story.

Then Santa made an appearance.

We loved the Christmas program and we are so thankful we were blessed to be invited.

For many years we have brought a suitcase of school supplies to GoodNews Christian School when we visit. In other years, we have sent a suitcase with others that were traveling to Nigeria. By God grace and help and with the help of others we brought a large suitcase of supplies and a good amount of money to purchase more.

Sis. Rebecca, Sis. Ruth and Bro. Samuel oversee and run the school. They do a wonderful job. We are so thankful that they allow us to come alongside them and support their ministry to these sweet children.

Here are a few pictures of the foundation and slab for the new two-story building that is being constructed at the school. This building is much needed!

Thank you for joining us today.
