A Request For Prayer-Eugene Boggs

We are confident that many of you that read Mile Markers daily take prayer very seriously. That is awesome, because we know that God takes the prayers of His people seriously as well. He loves to hear and answer prayers.

Jesus said, 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Luke 11

Hallelujah! Ask God! Seek God! Knock at the door of Heaven! Believe God and expect to receive, expect to find and expect that God's miracle storehouse will be opened!

Thank God, prayer works.

I am typing this today with a special prayer request on my heart and I would like to ask you to share the burden with us. My Dad, Eugene Boggs is having a procedure Friday afternoon. He is asking and we are asking that everything go smoothly and that the operation will be successful.

I asked my Dad yesterday if I could mention this on Mile Markers and he was glad for me to do so. Please, please, please pray for him today, Friday and over the weekend. I will try to give you an update Monday.

Thank you, dear friends. May God bless you for your kindness.

Update: The surgeon's office called my Dad Thursday morning and his procedure has been delayed two weeks due to an emergency. Thank you for praying. We are looking for God to move at every turn.

A Word For Wednesday God Is More Involved Than You Can See

It is time for A Word For Wednesday. A Few minutes ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel. The episode this week is God Is More Involved Than You Can See.

You may wonder, Why is this happening here? Why is this happening now? Why is this happening to us? Hang on! You may see God at work in this yet!

II Kings 4:8 And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.
I recorded this outside. PLEASE hang with me through the road noise. I can not control everything in our On The Road studio.😢😊

If you enjoy this, please subscribe, thumbs up the video and share the video with someone.😍

That Does Not Even Look Good On Paper!

I take great comfort in having our schedule in a neat little box with a nice little bow. I like knowing we have places to go and work scheduled for the coming weeks and months. We are very thankful that people want us to sing and preach in their churches. When they quit asking, we will need to find something else to do.

Obviously, in 2020 and 2021, normal schedules have flown out the window for nearly every profession. We have never had to cancel more revivals. Wow!

During my weeks of sickness and during most of the months of recovery, I was too sick to worry about a schedule. I was glad to schedule a wake up alarm AND then be around to turn it off.

As I began to mend, I was thrilled to know that churches on our schedule still wanted us to come when we could. Hallelujah! Churches that we had cancelled, some of them two years in a row, wanted back on the schedule and that made us smile too.

Now, how do we get going again and ease back into a sprint to the finish line? I came up with a plan after much though and advice from good men.

As you may have noticed IF you have looked at our schedule page, most of our revivals for the rest of the year begin midweek and run through Sunday night. We have purposely scheduled this way to give us a little more travel time between meetings and maybe a bit more rest as well.

In 2022 we will begin revivals on Sunday morning and run through midweek for most meetings. Some meetings will be all week because they are special meetings that always schedule the whole week such as Homecomings.

We normally have revival Sunday morning through Friday night most weeks and we eventually want to get back to that. We are hoping the shortened revivals will help me preserve strength until I am closer to normal durability.

The next twelve days looks more like old times, unfortunately.😍

We will be preaching outdoors under the pavilion here at First Assembly in Richton, MS Wednesday through Friday. We will be off Saturday and then preach Homecoming here Sunday morning. We are anxious to get outside again for revival and the weather looks great!

Sunday afternoon, we will load up, drive the bus to Midway Assembly near St. Stephens, Alabama, set everything up and preach fellowship meeting there Sunday night through Tuesday. Then we will drive a short distance to Thomasville, Alabama and preach there Wednesday and Thursday.

After that, we have two long days of driving and then three days to get to Oklahoma. The Oklahoma drive should be a breeze if I survive the next twelve days.🤣

I can hear my girls saying now, "That does not even look good on paper!" Hehe!

Honestly, we are thrilled that people still want us to come at all.
We are praising God for that!

Thank you for enjoying the ride with us, friends. We appreciate you.

Weekend Write Up 9/27/21

Our weekend began Friday with me at the bus in Vonore, Tennessee and Odie waiting all day long in a blind anticipating this.

I will save the story for Odie to tell. Needless to say, she is excited.

Saturday morning, I readied the BoggsMobile to ride. By noon the girls were back with me in Vonore, loaded up in the bus and the Jeep was hooked up and ready to roll.

In normal times, we would leave Vonore at noon on Saturday and drive to the south and be in position to preach and sing Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I am not at normal strength yet. Nearly 500 miles in TWO days is stretching it for me at the moment. That is pretty pitiful.

Tacos from KJo's Taco Bus helped a lot though!😍

We did have a target for Sunday night service, but they were not having church Sunday night. It would have been a push to get there in two days so it worked out for the best.

We are now within 100 miles or so of Richton, Mississippi where we begin revival Wednesday night. We may take a detour, but we will still probably arrive later today. It will be wonderful to see many friends from the area this week!

We also have special friends visiting the area. Any guesses who the special visitors are?

Thank you for stopping by for a few minutes.

Our View Out The Front Window 9/26/21

Sunday Morning Sanity
Youth Pastor: We have a problem
Pastor: There are no problems, only opportunities.
Youth Pastor: Ok, but that opportunity clogged the toilet and flooded the bathroom.

Our View Out The Front Window
This was the view out our bus window at Bass Pro in Bristol, Virginia Monday night.

This was our view out the front window in Vonore, Tennessee.

This is our view this morning at a rest area in Alabama.

May God bless you with a great Sunday. Thank you for stopping by.

Remembering The Deer That Got Away

Hey Friends,

This is Odie reporting in for another Saturday post. My mind has been on deer hunting this week. I had a cool opportunity to participate in a special hunt this weekend. I plan to give you a full report next week!

I have been reminiscing about my past deer hunting excursions. I have had a wonderful time gaining experience and memories. However, my past hunts have not been successful.

My most eventful hunt was during the 2016 season. I was hunting with my Uncle Danny and Papaw Danny Morgan in Ohio. I first shared the story back then but is worth reposting today. I will never live this moment down! All I can do is smile and laugh.

This is my unforgettable hunting moment. Wednesday in the woods of Hillsboro, Ohio. We only had a couple hours to hunt Wednesday morning. I was determined that was the day I would take a deer down.

It was extremely still and foggy morning and things were quiet at first. I was facing a field waiting for a deer to show up. Uncle Danny was looking all around for deer. He looked over his shoulder to see a big doe coming to the feeder barrel.

I was trying to get turned quickly, cautiously and quietly so I could get a good shot. The deer was watching things closely but she was enjoying corn from the feeder. I am left handed but I could not get a left handed shot. My uncle suggested I try a right handed shot.

The deer was 23 yards away it was a perfect chance to get my prize. I took the shot and immediately the doe dropped, flipped started kicking. I thought I was finally successful! I was shocked and ready to celebrate. The next instant the doe jumped up and ran away unharmed. We were dumbfounded!

My Papaw and Uncle Danny checked things out and all they could find was lots of hair. No sign of an injured deer could be found. Their guess was the shot hit in a void spot between her back and lungs.

Uncle Danny said I gave her a hairstyle change. My title is now the "Deer Barber", Papaw Danny said she told all the other deer that corn at the Morgan's is dynamite. It knocked me down it had such a punch.

My only visible trophy for the day was a bag of deer hair.

When we got back to the house and were discussing everything that happened that morning. I mentioned my prayer earlier that day. "Lord please let a deer come out by the feeder. Let me get a shot and take it down". Well, God answered my prayer! I had just forgotten to ask for the deer to stay down forever. I did NOT hear the end of it all day.

Five years later my uncle still reminds me to be specific in my prayers! He has told me to pray the deer all the way to the wall. This time around I have been praying for a successful hunt!

Thanks for reading as I reminisced about my deer hunting adventure. I can not wait to share this new excursion with you. I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

A Few Pictures From The Week

Monday morning found us in Staunton, Virginia at Beacon of Hope Holiness Church, but we were soon rolling southwest toward Tennessee.

Time for more diesel.

We stopped for a few minutes at Flying J in Wytheville, Virginia.

We were parked next to this motorhome and old car.

We were headed for the Welcome Center in Tennessee. We hoped to spend the night there, but they have a two hour limit. We called the Bass Pro at the next exit and they have a few spaces for overnight parking of RVs.

The RV spots are nice and wide and level enough to make it one night.

We had a peaceful night at Bass Pro and Tuesday we finished the 145 miles to East Tennessee Luxury Coach in Vonore, Tennessee without any problems. We unhooked the Jeep, Jeff told us where to park and we shut down within minutes.

This is a familiar stop for us. We have several things that need attention, but I am not sure what all they might be able to do with only three full days here. Whatever they get done, will be one less thing to worry about.

Tuesday evening, KJo and Odie headed North to Ohio in the Jeep.

Odie needed to be home this week for a special day. We will tell you more about it later. Hopefully, all goes well and they will be back to me Friday night. We need to be headed south as soon as possible.

They got to see my parents and KJo's parents. Plus they ate at Acapulco with both sets of parents too. That is pretty cool.

KJo also mowed the yard and trimmed it real good. She is becoming quite professional with keeping the lawn in top shape.

Jeff and his guys spent some time Wednesday fixing leaks and charging our bus AC. That is the air conditioning the runs off the motor while going down the road.

We will get more pictures and details of the week later. Thank you for stopping by.

Trolls And Their Tolls

If you were raised in the CB radio days of the 1970s, here is a blast from the past.😁

I says, Pig Pen, this here's the Rubber Duck, we just ain't gonna pay no toll. So we crashed the gate doing 98, I says let them truckers roll, 10-4.🎵🎵

I love that!😍 If KJo and Odie had a dime for every time they have heard me say that while driving, they could buy a sack full of tacos!

Things have advanced since the 1970s and I promise you they are going to get their tolls one way or another. New York State and most other states in the Northeast have eliminated toll booths completely. They do not even have gates to crash!😒

As you go through the toll section at full speed, they read your toll transponder on your window. IF you do not have a toll pass, it reads your license plate and sends you the bill in the mail.

There is a problem with letting it read your license plate and send you the bill. First, it is way more expensive. Second, it results in late fees. We have experienced this in New York and Texas. Since we are out of state, they have to contact Ohio and get our address.

I guess they do this by a walking mail carrier, because by the time we received the bill SEVERAL weeks later, it was overdue. A $3-4 toll bill had a $20 late fee added to it. Ugh!

The best thing to do is to get a toll pass. We have an Oklahoma Pike Pass provided by some dear friends that purchased a transponder for us for Oklahoma toll roads a few years ago. It now works in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas. They add money to the account and all we do is stick it on the window and drive.

I am not sure if I have mentioned that here before, but we are very thankful. It has been a huge blessing and is tremendously thoughtful! That is an amazing gift for someone on the road. Thank you again, friends!

Congress passed a law in 2012 that by 2016 all toll systems in the US had to speak the same language so we could get one transponder and it would work on all toll roads and bridges.

How did that work out? 2016 came and went. Although there had been much progress, they were not there yet. Five years later and we are still not there. It turns out, the law stated that it had to be done, but set up no enforcement.

There are about 4 major systems and several smaller ones now. AND some of the major systems now can communicate with each other.

Earlier this year when I was confined to the bus, I began to research the best passes. The Illinois pass works with more systems that we are likely to travel than any other, so I ordered one in March. You put money on the pass and then add $$ manually with a credit card or allow it to replenish at a certain level.

Our trip to New England was our first attempt at using and it seemed to work fine. It paid tolls in New York, Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, New York again and New Jersey.

It can take over a week for some of the charges to show up, but I believe they are all in now. The total spent in those states is $189.44! Wow! It could have been much more. We saw signs at some gates that said paying my mail was near twice the rate as using the pass. Wow Again!

The Trolls are gonna get their tolls, that is for sure. Ouch!

Thank you for reading today.

A Word For Wednesday Power In The Name of Jesus

It is time for A Word For Wednesday. I posted it on our YouTube Channel a few moments ago. I am talking to you today from the Gospel of John.

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

I hope you enjoy these videos on Wednesdays. If you do, tell someone else about them for me. Thank you.

A Story of A True Friend

I am pulling this out of the archives for you today. I hope you enjoy this story about a tremendous friend that God gave to our family. When it comes to friends, we have been greatly blessed.

A Story of A True Friend
A very kind lady in a church was encouraging me a few nights ago. She was telling me how much she loves our singing and preaching and our family ministry in general. She was exceedingly kind in her evaluation of us.

During the conversation, she said, "I could never live and travel like you all do." Of course, I said, "That is OK, we could never live like you do, staying in one spot all the time."😀

Our life is a little out of the norm, I suppose, but it is our life. We are getting to do what we are called to do and there are so many things about it that we love. We love the travel, we love seeing new things, visiting new places, eating new foods, going to new churches and experiencing new things.

The best part of our life, though, is all about the people. We have met and been loved by many, many wonderful people all over America and around the world. In nearly every state there are churches where we feel comfortable and safe among friends that hold us up and pray us through. That is a huge bonus in life!

The last few days I have been thinking about the wonderful people that have been brought into our lives. God ordained men and women to cross our paths and work their way into our hearts. These thoughts reminded me of a story I told here several years ago.

The first night of Dryden Rd. Camp meeting in August of 1993 I saw an old friend from Keller, Texas. He had not been to camp meeting before so I made a point to speak to him and make him feel welcome at my home church. I was so thrilled to see him. His first words to me were these, "Davy boy, I drove a thousand miles to hug your neck and tell you that I love you." Then he did it. He hugged my neck and told me he loved me.

I was just about speechless because I could tell that he meant every word he said. Add to that the fact that I did not feel like I had very many friends at that moment. (Of course, I had more friends than I knew about.) We visited a few minutes until my responsibilities and his desire to leave and get some rest pulled us apart.

I looked for him the next day but he was not there. He was not there for the rest of the week. I called him the next week and asked what happened to him. Did he get sick? Did he go somewhere else? He said, "Davy boy, I told you I drove a thousand miles to hug your neck and tell you I love you. I did it and then I came back home."

If I thought I was speechless the week before, I was really speechless then. What kind of man drives 2000 miles round trip to hug me and tell me he loves me? What kind of man does that? A man that is a true friend, that is who does that. Only a man that believes in me does that. I knew that day I had a true friend. I knew he believed in me.

I took courage from that extreme act of kindness. I knew if God inspired friends like that to help me then God must intend for me to make it. I knew there were good men that were willing to go to bat for me. I knew they were "on my side." I knew that God must be "on my side" too. For the first time in several weeks, I had confidence that I could be an overcomer, I could win. My friend did all of that for me by driving a thousand miles, hugging me, telling me he loved me and then going back home!

I have rehearsed that story in my mind a thousand times. I have told it personally from the pulpit dozens of times. It is a story I will continue to tell as long as I have memory and breath. It is a story of friendship, loyalty and love. I can not believe I have friends that love me that much, but I do. Wow!

My friend, Bro. L.C. Clounch passed away in the fall of 2013. We were in Florida when he passed. In fact, we were in service with his baby granddaughter and her family that night. I will miss my friend until I see him again.

His dear widow drove up from Texas to visit family and be with us during tent revival in Oklahoma City in 2014. She brought me one of Bro. L.C.'s pocket knives. You see, Bro. L.C. was all about pocket knives. Where Bro. L.C was there were knives, talk about knives and swapping knives. Sis. Clounch said as she handed me one of his knives, "Somebody SENT this to you."

I tell you I was overwhelmed again. I held in my hand a piece of my amazing friend. I knew it would be a constant tangible reminder of his extreme friendship. I will always cherish that knife.

I was overwhelmed when she handed it to me but not as overwhelmed as I was going to be in a few minutes. Sis. Clounch and her son began to tell me the rest of the story behind that trip to Ohio in 1993. Bro. L.C. felt impressed by God to drive that thousand miles to hug my neck and tell me he loved me but there was one small problem. They did not have the money to make a big trip like that. What did he do?

Bro. L.C. went to the bank and borrowed the money to drive 2000 miles round trip just to encourage a preacher that needed it desperately. Are you crying yet? I am slobbering all over the keyboard as I try to type this. He borrowed the money so he could drive all that distance for me. Wow again!

I owe you big time, Bro. L.C.!

Bro. and Sis. Clounch November 2012

What a friend!

God bless you for reading,

Weekend Write Up 9/20/21

Friday we were scheduled to preach in Waynesboro, Virginia for Bro. Troy Shifflett. He and his family have an outreach service in Waynesboro once each week. They are beginning to have some Friday night services too and last week was their first one. They had a preacher slated to be there, but he had to cancel. We were conveniently in Elkton so we got the call. We were thrilled to do it.

Waynesboro is about 40 minutes from Elkton, but we lengthened the trip somewhat. Instead of going straight there, we drove up to Skyline Drive and turned south 40 miles. It ends in Waynesboro close to the church, so that gave us a chance to see some scenery while on the way.

I will have more pictures from Skyline later.

Our friend Bro. Matt Sponaugle from BHC, told us about a taco truck near the Waynesboro church. We arrived early enough to check it out. This truck has a well earned reputation for good tacos and slow service, but thankfully the tacos were great AND they were ready in under 15 minutes.

Saturday afternoon we prepared the BoggsMobile to ride.

We were only driving 40 miles to Staunton, Virginia so we were in no rush. We took it nice and easy and arrived about 5:00 PM. Pastor Keith May was waiting on us. He and some others helped us get parked and then we went to eat...Mexican, of course!

We were with Bro. May and his folks both services Sunday. We have known some of these people for many years, but this was our first visit to Beacon of Hope Holiness Church. All day was outstanding!

God blessed in the services, the fellowship was grand and the food was good too. There is not much to dislike about a weekend like that. We look forward to coming back soon!

Thank you for visiting us for a few minutes today. God bless you, friends.
