Visiting Freedom 418

This week we visited a place we had never been before. The reason we had never visited is because it has been brought into existence since we were here the last time.

Bro. Shobanke's son Emmanuel and his wife Bettina have founded a home for displaced children. They rent a building directly behind the GoodNews Christian School and currently, they have boys sheltered there.

These boys are from Christian homes in persecuted areas of Nigeria and their parents desire them to be protected and educated in a safe environment. They live in the home and are educated across the street at GoodNews Christian School.

It was a privilege to meet them and to see the operation of the home.

They sang for us and then each one quoted several scriptures for us. When the boys arrived at Freedom 418, they only spoke their local languages. They are reading and speaking English and doing very well. It is amazing how much scripture they are memorizing and quoting.

It is tremendous how much they are gaining in language, especially since their local language is totally different than the Yoruba that is spoken in Abeokuta. The teachers could only teach by making signs in the beginning.

Thank you for joining us today.
