Odie's Deer Song

Hey Friends,

This is Odie checking from Moore, Oklahoma. We are having a fabulous time with our friends a Crosslight! There are still three more services of revival and I am expecting God to move in each service.

Do you remember when I shared about the True Lure No Kill Deer hunt that I experienced last month? You can read all about my amazing hunt by clicking here

I told in my previous post about my deer "Lazarus". Below is a picture of me and my Uncle Danny Morgan with Lazarus. Uncle Danny named him Lazarus, for he was only sleeping. The deer would rise again. Lazarus was snoring away during this picture.

Our friend Terry Cummins read my post about the deer hunt and he and was inspired. Terry remembered the song My name is Lazarus that was made popular by Greater Vision.

Click here to hear the original Greater Vision song on YouTube. This was released in back 1999. I know most southern gospel fans will remember this Greater Vision classic penned by Rodney Griffin. This song has a good message.

Odie's Deer Song
Terry felt a new 2021 version of the song needed to be written about the deer, Lazarus. Terry called on Bro. Brandon Brown for help. Soon My Name Is Lazarus (Odie) took shape.

All of this transpired without my knowledge. Later I was listening to Terry and Bro. Jimmie Radcliffe as they were discussing Bro. Brandon Brown's new song. That is when I was introduced to My Name Is Lazarus (Odie).

Oh my goodness, I laughed so hard! The song greatly depicts the details of my hunt. I also love that there is a little imagination thrown in for good storytelling. I think this is hilarious and had to share it with you today! Click here to hear the soundtrack to the original song on Youtube. That is the tune the song should be sung or read in.

My Name Is Lazarus(Odie)

One day, four deer stood on the edge of a clearing
They had just awoken and got out of bed
Fear gripped their heart and suspiciously were looking
Still they were hungry and longed to be fed

Now we don't know much about these bucks that worried
In West Portsmith Ohio that day
But if we may create an illustration
We'll see what these, stags might have had to say

Suppose that first buck said, I hate to doubt it
That pile of sweet corn is quite a find
It looks delicious there's no doubt about it
But there’s a smell of fried chicken coming from that blind

Suppose that second buck said It could be hunters
We might be risking injury or becoming maimed
Although our numbers seem to be increasing
So I don't believe that some of them can aim

Suppose that third buck said I hate to question
But I have heard some strange conspiracies
They shoot you with a dart & then cut off your antlers
And pose with your body as you snore in your sleep

Then every eye was turned toward the fourth buck
A tag that said 19 hung upon his ten point rack
But all three deer were startled with amazement
When he began to tell the story of his attack

Chorus

He said My name is Lazarus could I testify
My name is Lazarus, I’m lucky to be alive
I barely escaped the kiss of death
That corn nearly caused me to take my last breath
If you think that pile of food is worth your head on a wall
Take it from the one who's been shot by Odie Boggs
A living testimony of this death-defying hunt my name is Lazarus

That is the story of my True Lure No Kill Deer Hunt in song. I was hunting for dear number 19 that we named Lazarus. My hunt was successful and Lazarus lives to sing about the experience. LOL

Now the 2021 Odie Version holds a special meaning to me. Here is another connection to the original song and my deer hunt. I had to be carried on a cot by four people to get to my sleeping deer. I actually told them to carry me to Jesus while I was laying on the cot.😂

This is a picture of me and Terry Cummins. Terry, Thanks for coming up with this idea. You crack me up! Thank you for being a wonderful friend!

This is Bro. Brandon Brown and his wife Sis. Rebecca. Bro. Brandon, thanks for penning these lyrics! Your piece of art blesses me! I know it will continue to bring joy to many people.

Thanks for visiting with me today. I hope that I was able to bring a smile to your face today! I look forward to seeing you back here next Saturday.

It Has Been An Amazing Week!

It has been a great week in the midwest and we are rolling into a wonderful weekend. First, I need to catch up with a few pictures from setting up sound in Wichita last week. I missed these somehow so here they are.

As we were finishing soundcheck I enjoyed getting to sing with my brother and Bro. Dennis Dailey from Wichita. It was a lot of fun!

After closing revival in Wichita Sunday, we crammed as much rest as we could into Monday. We slept as late as possible and lazed around all morning.

KJo fixed tacos for lunch and Steve ate with us.

I spent the afternoon in the chapel at Bethany recording and editing a couple videos for A Word For Wednesday. This was one of them.

Monday evening we went with Steve to a Chinese buffet that was very good. We especially enjoyed the food and visiting with my brother.

While we were eating, Odie, Karen and Esther went to see the Gaither Vocal Band at a church.

Tuesday morning the Jeep needed some attention. One of the tires had a very slow leak and the Jeep needed an oil change. Steve took me up the road to a family owned tire shop and they took care of the leak in a few minutes. They found a small nail in the tire and another small hole. Ouch!

Next, Steve took me to the oil change place that he uses and they took care of the oil change. Much to my surprise, the oil for my 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee is 0w20 and is only available in full synthetic or blended synthetic. Wow! No more cheap oil changes for me.

They also took care of a couple other things to make my day complete and soon we were on our way.

We said goodbye to Steve and cranked the bus, unhooked the utilities, attached the Jeep and we were on our way to Oklahoma City by about 12:30 PM Tuesday.

Revival did not begin until Wednesday, but resting and traveling as wisely as possible is part of my recuperation plan. I wanted to make most of the trip Tuesday and make it easy to move into position Wednesday.

We stopped at Love's in Tonkawa, Kansas to empty our holding tanks. It is kind of rare to find a dumping station at a Love's and extremely rare for Love's to actually put it somewhere on the lot that we can access. They only have so much space and their main focus is big trucks and we understand that.

The one in Tonkawa is not perfect, but it is probably the best one we have seen at a Love's. We used it going into Wichita last week too, so we are regulars.😁 As I drove through the parking lot I was on the lookout for gunslingers after this blew by.

We went on toward OKC, stopping once more to fill the bus with diesel. We were probably 600 miles from needing to stop, but I was thinking about traveling from Oklahoma to western Kentucky next week. I have a long ways to go Monday through Wednesday morning and I want to make that trip as easy as possible.

We spent a very stormy Tuesday night in a Walmart parking lot and we came through fine. We parked purposefully between two trucks, but the BoggsMobile was shaking in the wind more than any of us can remember happening before.

The wind was so strong that the rocking bus would wake us up out of a dead sleep. Thankfully, I was able to go back to sleep each time.

Wednesday morning we finished the trip to the church, parked, hooked up, loaded in equipment, set up and retired to the BoggsMobile for KJo's tacos again! Yummy!

We have had two wonderful nights of revival with Bro. and Sis. Birdsong and their great congregation at Crosslight. Hallelujah! Praise God! We are anticipating great things the next four services!

It has been so good to have Bro. and Sis. DiZazzo and my brother Steve and my dear sister in law Karen with us in Moore, Oklahoma. That is a special treat for us and we are so thankful.

I will let Odie tell you later about these pictures below.

Thank you for joining us for a few minutes today.

Praise The Lord!

We had an excellent first night of revival at Crosslight in Moore, Oklahoma! Hallelujah! I am expecting it to be gooder and gooder all the way through Sunday.

Several weeks ago I asked you to pray for my Dad, Eugene Boggs. He was scheduled to have a procedure and we were asking God to help all go well. The day before the surgery the surgeon's office called and told him the procedure was delayed two weeks. Ugh!

Two weeks really drag by when you are in pain and hoping for help! The day arrived and Dad finally had the surgery. The doctor thought everything went very well and we were all glad to hear that.

He came home after a couple of days and it is now nearly two weeks later. He is still very much in the healing process and it remains to be seen how successful the procedure was, but Dad is seeing good signs.

We are praising God for His help and we are believing God for my Dad to be completely well. We do appreciate you all praying for him and several of you asking about how he is doing. Thank you for that very much. God's people continually overwhelm us with kindness.

We have a friend that needed surgery and it was delayed by COVID. She was recently cleared for surgery and came through it well. She is healing up and we are thankful for that too.

Thank you for being our friends and covering us with prayer. We appreciate it!

Have a great day.

A Word for Wednesday - Making The Right Choice

It is time for A Word For Wednesday. A Few minutes ago I posted A Word for Wednesday on our YouTube Channel.

A Word for Wednesday for this week is Making The Right Choice.

Our Word For Wednesday is taken from the introduction to a sermon called Making The Right Choice by Wade H. Horton from his book Sound Scriptural Sermon Outlines Volume 6.
Joel 3:14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.

If you enjoy this, please subscribe, thumbs up the video and share the video with someone.😍

Thank you for spending a few minutes with us today.

Remodeling Again?

Have you ever known or heard of someone that had a remodeling addiction? It seems they are never satisfied with their house. They go from one remodeling project to the next.

I may be forming my own remodeling addiction. Not of houses but of bumpers.
1996 Prevost XL Vantare
A little over a year ago I changed the two plates that had been on the front of the BoggsMobile and I wrote about it HERE.

These are the before and after pictures.

Before

After

I was perfectly content with the new look until a dear friend gifted me a great plate. A gift? Oh yeah, on Odie's birthday, I received gifts too. Bro. Galen Cummins gave me three Ohio plates from 1967. Two of them will eventually hang inside the bus barn at home.

They will do well in the barn until I run across a 67 Camero, 67 pick up or 67 VW.🤣😎

The third one was destined for the front bumper of the BoggsMobile. It is a 1967 plate that was specifically for a bus.

My brother Steve cleaned the surface of the plate and then I sprayed a few thin coats of lacquer. Steve helped me install it on the bumper of the bus.

What do you think?

I really like it a lot! Thank you very much, Bro. Galen! I appreciate your kindness and thoughtfulness. I would love to know the history of that plate.

The BoggsMobile will wear its "new" plate with a smile for many, many miles!

Ohio does not require a regulation license plate on the front of vehicles. KJo asked me if I thought having an actual old plate on the front of the bus is legal. I told her that I think it is fine, but if not,  I imagine we will find out.😍

The Prevost Community plate will go back into the windshield where it rode for years.

That is enough remodeling for now. Thank you for dropping by.

Revival In Pictures - Wichita, Kansas

I hope you had a wonderful weekend, friends. I am telling you that we have enjoyed the blessings of the Lord five days in a row! Praise the Lord! It has been delightful.

Saturday night and Sunday morning services were as close to a tent revival service that we have had in normal revival in quite a while. God was reaching strongly to people in need and it was a joy to watch it happen and to be part of it. Hallelujah!

I love watching God speak to people and then I love it when they respond to His voice. God will help you when you respond to Him!

This is our 19th year of revival at Bethany Revival Center and we are always thrilled when Pastor John DiZazzo invites us to be with them. Our bond with these folks keeps getting stronger and that is perfectly fine with us.

I hope you are ready for Revival In Pictures today. We have more pictures than you can shake a stick at! Thank you for stopping by.
