The First Day of 2015

The last day of 2014 did not end for us until about 3:00 AM so the first day of 2015 started a little later than usual. We were a little unsure what we were going to do Thursday because of the weather forecast. We were supposed to drive about 190 miles south to a church near Mauriceville, Texas but the weather guessers were calling for 100% chance of rain/freezing rain in Kilgore with the temps right around freezing.

Around 10:00 AM the temperature moved up to 37-38 even though the high for the day was "guessed" to be 34. That cleared the way for us to hook up and go so that is exactly what we did. Here we are in Kilgore ready to ride. It rained the whole way but thankfully we arrived safe and sound.

We parked at the Flying J on I-10 near Orange, Texas about 4:15 PM. They have a place we could park at the church but with all the rain we were afraid it would be a little soft for the BoggsMobile. We decided the Flying J would be safer.

We were only about 9 miles from the House of Prayer Holiness Church so we left about 7:00 for service. Pastor Mark Compton had invited us to be with them in their midweek service and we were excited to be with them.

We met Bro. Compton and his family several years ago when we were both pastoring churches in Kansas. We have not been able to be with them much through the years but we always seem to pick up right where we left off. It is great to have friends like that. They are super folks.

They are in the process of building a new church so they are having church in the former Sunday school area. They are crowded in but they were ready to have church last night. We had a wonderful service and we enjoyed ourselves so much.

This is one picture of the new church building in progress.

After church we had a wonderful meal and fellowship with the Compton's and a few of the church folks. It was great to visit with friends that we have not been around much in years. We sure appreciate them having us in their church and in their home. It was a blessing to us.

When we got back to the BoggsMobile we had a nice Silver Eagle parked next to us so we were in good company.

I would say over all the new year is off to a pretty good start. I hope yours is going good as well.

We are about 175 miles from our next revival in Sweeny, Texas. We will mosey that way later today by God's grace. Thanks for reading.
