A Visit With Special Friends

I had something prepared to write about today, but it will hold a while. We had special friends come to visit and I want to tell you about them.

We met Herman and Margaret on July 6, 1985 in Crossville, Tennessee at Coleman Looper's Gospel Barn. We were there with the Isaacs and they were there as part of the Easons. We met them that Saturday night and loved them from the first moment.

Over the next couple of years we were able to become more acquainted with the Woods family. They sang in our area and Bro. Herman preached a great revival in our home church at the time. The more we were around them, the more we loved them.

In June of 1988 we drove to Tennessee for Homecoming at Beechfork Holiness Church where Bro. Herman was Pastor. He asked me to preach that day and our deep abiding friendship began with that wonderful group of people.

We have been to their church every year since then and only missed two years of preaching revival there. We have spent dozens and dozens of nights in Herman and Margaret's home and eaten many wonderful meals at their table.

Through the years they became spiritual mentors to us and we are much the better for it. I am safe in saying that Bro. Herman has been my number one encourager in the field of evangelism. He always told me I was an evangelist and had something for the church, even when I was not sure at all. He and Sis. Margaret have pushed us to walk by faith, preach the Word, sing from our heart and trust God for the result.

As I look back over major events in our lives the last 33 years, Herman and Margaret were never far away. They have helped us celebrate good times and have prayed with us, cried with us and encouraged us in not so good times. They have been true friends.

We love them very, very much!

Although we see them at Beechfork every year, we rarely get to see them any where else. They stay busy with the church, family and work. I was thrilled when they called Wednesday afternoon and they were less than 30 minutes away from London, Kentucky! It was a marvelous surprise!

We have already been blessed to share two meals with them and to have them in church with us Wednesday night. AND they are staying over today and plan to be in church with us tonight as well.

May God bless our friends.

Speaking of church Wednesday night, we had another excellent service. I am really enjoying revival! I am excited about tonight.

Thank you for joining us today. God bless you, friends.

Vintage View Vednesday Simple Truth May 2006

We are having a wonderful time this week at First Pentecostal Church in London, Kentucky with Pastor Vernon Jarvis and all of his fine folks. They sure deserve better preaching than what they are getting, but they are very gracious about it. We absolutely love being here.

Vintage View Vednesday

Vintage View Vednesday this week takes us back to May of 2006. We were at Hilltop studio near Nashville recording our Simple Truth CD. We love the recording process and being with Ben Isaacs and all of the talented musicians makes it even more fun.

It was a great, great experience. We spent one day tracking the music, about two days on vocals and then a day or two on mixing. We had it mastered later at another studio in Nashville.

We had the Kountry Star fifth wheel then and we parked in an RV park in Goodlettsville. We were there for two full weeks. I think we did the tracking the first week and then rested our voices until we recorded the vocals the second week.

We had a lot of family fun in the campground and visiting local churches in the Nashville area. We sometimes stay in campgrounds during revivals, but while families are building fires for the evening, we come out in our dress clothes, load up in the car and leave. We get a LOT of funny looks.

It is every once in a while to actually "use" the campground.

We have great memories from these few days of recording. We had a blast. We really, really need to get back into the studio and these pictures make us want to get it done now!

I just realized there are no pictures of me singing on this album. Maybe that's not me on those songs. Some one must have filled in for me.

That is all for today. Thanks for dropping in.

Good News From GoodNews Christian School - Nigeria

During our last visit to Nigeria near the end of 2016 we visited the GoodNews Christian School in Abeokuta as we always do. We were anxious to see the progress on the new construction of a building with two new classrooms. We had given money before that toward the construction and on that visit we took the funds to finish it.

This is what the new building looked like in late November 2016.

The money we left behind and their hard work turned into this by the middle of January! Beautiful!

Those two big classrooms provided them with enough space for the students they had at that time and no more. I was thrilled to find out they had built the building with the proper foundation and walls to support a second story in the future. I told Bro. Shobanke we would start preparing to help with that project right away.

Real life intervened when the church on that same property had to be torn down last year and rebuilt because it was in danger of collapsing. The church was completed and dedicated in December 2017 debt free!

We gave Bro. Shobanke an offering in May to help begin the second story on the school building and when school term was ended they began. He sent me these pictures a few days ago.

Concrete one bucket at a time!

I am so excited to see the progress. It is the rainy season in Nigeria right now so any work accomplished at all is a miracle. Thank you for helping us to help them to do this and we are hoping to do more. They are trying to expand the school and they need the classrooms.

As I have mentioned many times, the school is a very effective and critical outreach and we believe in it very much. Bro. Shobanke's daughters Ruth and Rebecca run the school and do an excellent job. We also hope to take some school supplies, money for school supplies and money for salaries when we go to Nigeria this November.

As always, we never ask for help for our expenses to Nigeria, but if any one would like to help with these or other projects in Nigeria, you are welcome to do so through Boggs Family Ministries. 100% of what you give will go toward the intended purpose in Nigeria.

Thank you for stopping by today. It is always nice to have you.
