Weekend Woundup and Weview #45

The weekend started with a tremendous lunch Friday at one of our favorite places to eat. Rodizio Grill!

Bro. James and Sis. Tara McCoy introduced us to Rodizio Grill in July 2015 when we were here for our first revival. Here is the picture from that hot day.

We fell in love with this place back then and we appreciate the McCoy's taking us there the very first time.

Kelly Jo and I have been to the one in Nashville twice and we have taken family and friends to the one in Ohio several times since then. Yes, it is that good! It is kind of pricey but definitely worth it as a splurge! Wow!

We will have more pictures from Rodizio along with a great big bunch of pictures from the church in tomorrow's Revival In Pictures post.

We had a wonderful service Friday night. Some of the men from Liberty had visited a church in Aurora, Colorado and that church repaid the visit Friday. Pastor Norman Hurd brought a big bunch from his church to revival Friday night and they were a tremendous blessing and encouragement to the revival. They also responded good in the altar service and testified to receiving help from the Lord!

It was great to have Bro. Hurd and his folks and to get acquainted with them.

God moved in a mighty way Friday night in the altar and I believe that we all left encouraged in the Lord. I love services like that and I love when whole revivals are like that!

Saturday morning I spent some time on top of the BoggsMobile.

I will tell you more about that later in the week. Then we enjoyed a wonderful lunch with Bro. and Sis. McCoy at their favorite Mexican place. It was excellent. The salsa had a roasted flavor like Los Cabos but it was served chilled rather than warm. It was very good!

We finished revival with two more great services Saturday night and Sunday morning

We only had one revival service on Sunday morning. Bro. McCoy and his church take their Sunday evening services to some local assisted living facilities. They are a blessing to many folks there and it is a wonderful outreach.

When service was over Sunday morning we all went to Sweet Tomatoes. We enjoyed a great meal and wonderful fellowship with the McCoy's and their folks. When we arrived back at the BoggsMobile it was about 70 degrees and the sun was shining bright.

There was a very cold front blowing in on Monday and we wanted to get out of Dodge before it hit. It was coming from the northeast so we would be driving into it but once we get above Wyoming it is supposed to be a little better.

We pulled out at 4:00 PM Sunday.

Traffic was light all the way through Denver and beyond. It was a really pleasant day to drive until the wind picked up the last hour or so. We enjoyed the evening on the road.

Did I mention that Colorado is absolutely beautiful?

Two hours later we stopped at the welcome center in Wyoming to empty our holding tanks. We left Castle Rock at 4:00 and it was 70 degrees. We traveled 100 miles north and it was 40 degrees, felt like 29 and the wind was blowing 17 MPH out of the northeast.

The sun went down while I was working and all hope of getting warm vanished with it. Friends, I am telling you I thought I was going to freeze to death! It got cold fast!

We wrapped up the weekend a couple of hours later in a rest area south of Casper, Wyoming.

The total drive between revivals this time is between 900 and 1000 miles and I wanted to make a bigger dent in it Sunday evening so that we could mostly rest one day and maybe see a few sights. The cold, wind and the forecast of snow a few miles ahead put a stop to that.

We will pick up today and see how far we get. Thanks for riding along with us.

Pray for Mamaw, Martha Boggs

Hey Friends,

Happy Saturday! This is Odie checking in from beautiful Castle Rock, Colorado. Colorado is absolutely gorgeous! I remember the beauty from our first time in Colorado, when I was 6 years old. I have come to appreciate the beauty more each time we visit.

This is our second trip to the church in Castle Rock and it is great to be back. I am excited about what God has done and is going to do for The McCoy Family and Liberty Holiness Church.

Sis. Tara McCoy is actually our cousin. Sis. Tara and Bro. James were both raised in Ohio. In fact, Sis. Tara went to church less than a mile from where my Dad was raised. It is very nice to be with family.

Speaking of family, I have a special prayer request. My Mamaw, Martha Boggs, is scheduled to go in Monday for a heart procedure. We are thankful God has helped her a lot this year. She has been having issues with her heart for awhile. They installed a pacemaker in August and she has recuperated well.

Now Mamaw will have part two of fixing her heart. I do not understand all the details, but I know it is supposed to help the rhythm of her heart. We are praying and believing that everything will go smoothly and she will be as good as new.

Please join us in prayer! I appreciate your prayers and I know Mamaw will too. God is so good and I thank Him in advance for His help!

Thank you for stopping by today. We definitely appreciate you taking time to visit us. May God bless you greatly this weekend.

Liberty Holiness Church - Castle Rock, Colorado

This post has a lot of links so maybe it is time for a reminder. There are times that I will type a word with bold print for emphasis, but if the world is bold like this, it is most likely a link to another of our pages or content that I am referencing. You can usually click on the link and it will open in another page.

We are very excited to be back at Liberty Holiness Church in Castle Rock, Colorado.

The church began in 2013 and had been meeting in homes. We had a wonderful time with them our first visit in 2015. We enjoyed revival, seeing old friends and we even climbed the trail to THE Castle Rock. We loved our time with the McCoy's and looked forward to returning.

The real estate in this part of Colorado is booming and prices have been souring for a few years. It looked like it was absolutely impossible for the church to even rent a building. Rent for commercial space is measured in multiples of thousands here, not hundreds.

Then a miracle happened!

In February of 2016 the Lord marvelously made a way for the church to move out of the basement of the Pastor's home and into a rented building in town. The rent they pay is very minimal for the area. You can read about it HERE. It was neat to actually see the location with our own eyes when we arrived for church Wednesday night.

They rent space from a children's dance studio. The building has parking, stage, sound system and theater style seats. It is well suited for their needs and the price is right.

I will try to snap a picture in the daytime but this is how it looked Thursday night with a little snow on the ground.

God blessed them in an amazing way with the building and they are praying for a harvest of souls for the Lord. We are here to assist in that and we are determined to do our best to help them reach the lost this week and to encourage them as the family of God.

Please pray for us in revival this week and continue to pray for Pastor James McCoy and his band of believers long after we are gone.

I always appreciate you taking time to read the blog.

Travel and Work Days

In keeping with our stated goal to travel as smart as we can the next several weeks (in light of my fantastic scheduling) we built some rest into our 530 mile trip between Wichita and Castle Rock, Colorado. PLUS we had a newsletter to write and get uploaded to the printer and a bunch of book work to do too.

We tried to get a good night's sleep Sunday and we did not rush off bright and early as we often do on travel days. Bro. John and Sis. Judy DiZazzo were knee deep in remodeling the last time we were here and we wanted to see the finished product. The house looks tremendous and we enjoyed our visit with them very much.

By the time we arrived at the church, cranked up the BoggsMobile, unhooked the utilities and attached the Green Machine, it was 11:00 AM. Perfect!

What was not perfect was the terribly high winds that beat us up all day long. It whipped around in different directions a few times but it was mostly coming out of the northwest. It was horrible.

We were going north the first two hours and then pretty much due west the rest of the day. That means it was hitting us on the left side of the bus toward the front for two hours and then the right side the rest of the day.

The wind was blowing sustained speeds of 20-27 MPH and gusting to 40 MPH according to our weather apps! I believe they may have clocked it a little too slow! I had to keep a firm grip on the wheel every moment. My knuckles were white and my whole body was tense from the wind hitting us broadside.

I am super glad that not all travel days are like Monday.

We have been west nearly every year since 2010 but we have not traveled west on I-70 through Kansas since then. We love this drive across the flat lands of Kansas. But those flat lands are deceptive.

Wichita, Kansas is about 1300' above sea level. We dropped about 75' going north to Salina where we turned west on I-70. I-70 looks like it is almost completely flat but it is steady climbing at about a 1% grade. I do not believe my GPS ever showed a 2% grade, always 1%.

This perfectly flat landscape picture was taken through my bug soaked windshield in western Kansas. The elevation is about 3900' above sea level! That was a big gain for the day. Especially when it never seemed like we were going uphill at all!

This picture out my side window is in eastern Colorado. It looks flatter than Kansas and that is saying something.

My GPS said were 5400' above sea level in that picture above. Amazing!

By the time we stopped I felt like I had been beat up all day long! I was very glad to pry my fingers off the steering wheel and get out of the driver's seat and away from the heavy wind.

The sun went down very shortly after we arrived and we went to work on the newsletter and settled in for a very cold night. It was the coldest night for us this fall and way colder than we are used to in October. We had a good frost. IF there is any ragweed out here, it should be dead and that is good! It will get colder later in the week.

We did not travel Tuesday. We rested, tended to a couple BoggsMobile issues (I will detail in a later post), and Kelly Jo and I spent the biggest part of the day catching up on book work. It was a tedious day but necessary and enjoyable overall.

Who says we park at Flying J for free? We paid the rent before we departed Flying J on Wednesday morning.

The drive on to Castle Rock was beautiful on an awesome clear, warm day.

We arrived just before 11:00 Wednesday. We were here two years ago but we flew in so the BoggsMobile had never been to the McCoy's house. We parked in the road, figured the best way in and parked. We are in a gorgeous location.

We expected to have access to 20 amp electric and run the generator a lot during the very cold weather that will visit this week. But the electric panel was in the garage with easy access, so we wired into 50 amps. That is a plus.

Pastor James McCoy, Sis. Tara and their daughter Sara welcomed us with open arms and we are very glad to be back with them.

We had a wonderful time with them in July 2015 and if last night's service is any indication, this is going to be a great week. I love ministering in pioneer churches. It is a great place and time to exercise the calling of an evangelist. May God give us grace to do it well in Castle Rock, Colorado.

Kelly Jo and Odie were smiling big after church!

We had a very special visitor the first night of revival. Do you recognize our dear friend from Richton, Mississippi?

Bro. J. W. Cooper is working this week on a oil rig about an hour from here and he popped into church Wednesday. That was a very special treat for us and for the church and we appreciate his time and effort! May God bless you, little buddy, for being a blessing to us!

Thank you all for stopping in to visit us today.

Dad (Eugene) Has Been Busy

A Blog Note:
I usually post early in the morning and very occasionally post late at night. When we are in the west my post times get a little less predictable. I will try to get it up late at night so the early morning readers will not miss out. Because even if I post at 5:30 AM in California, that is 8:30 AM in Ohio. At least you will know what is going on.

Dad (Eugene) Has Been Busy
We have had some confusion through the years concerning use of the words, "Dad" and "Mom" on the blog. When I (Davy) write about my Dad (Eugene), people sometimes think it is Odie referring to her Dad (Davy). When I (Davy) write about my Mom (Martha), people sometimes think it is Odie referring to her Mom (Kelly Jo).

The confusion is not contained to the blog. Several years ago I was suffering terribly through the night with what we found out later to be a kidney stone. For about 3 1/2 hours I was afraid that I was going to die. The next 3 1/2 hours I was afraid that I was not going to die and continue to live a few more hours in pain.

Odie picked up her phone and taxt (Taxt is my own form of the past tense of text. Texted is so awkward😏) Anyway, Odie taxt some dear friends that her Dad (Davy) was in desperate need of prayer. These dear friends received the text, crawled out of bed in the night and diligently prayed for my Dad (Eugene). It was a simple mistake.

Of course, I about died and my Dad (Eugene) was suddenly feeling miraculously better!😁 We all had a good laugh about it later.

How can you know which "Dad" or "Mom" is being referenced? The key to understanding is to know who is doing the talking (writing). We probably do not make it clear who is writing some days.

I usually write Sunday through Friday and Odie writes the blog on Saturday. Odie makes a point when she writes on Saturday and when she occasionally writes through the week, to identify herself at the beginning of the post. Like, "Hey, this is Odie writing today."

The rest of the time, I commence to writing without introduction, assuming you know it is me (Davy) and that when I talk about my Dad you know it is Eugene and when I talk about my Mom it is Martha.

Now that I have cleared that up, my Dad (Eugene) has been busy at the house while we have been busy living "The Life of Riley". He has been working on the electrical panel and finishing the other electric since Duke energized the house. He also mows and keeps everything looking nice.

He hung the porch light a few weeks ago but now it has power and at night will light up the gravel where the porch is going to be.

I told you that we had purchased 12 LED trims for the house when we were last home. We installed those in the high can lights that required the scaffolding.

We would have ordered all 18 trims needed for that room but they only had 12 in stock. We wanted to make sure the other 6 matched perfectly so we ordered 6 more at the sale price of $10. It turns out we had to order in quantities of 4 so we ordered 8.

My brother Steve and his wife wanted to order the rest of the trims that were needed while they were on sale. We needed 31, so with quantities of 4 they ordered 32. They have helped on the house so much, physically and financially and we appreciate it very much. They have been a huge encouragement.

All those lights came in the other day and my Dad went to Menard's to pick them up. Have you ever purchased much from Menard's? You gotta love their prices and selections but picking up special orders, big orders or items from the yard in back is a hassle.

It goes something like this.
Stand in line to show your paper work here.
Now, go over there and stand in line and show your paper work there.
Go to the back and find some one or stand in line to pull your order.
Drive your truck around back, show your paper work and load up.
Pull up to the gate, show your paper work, open your tailgate, show your driver's license, sign away your first born's social security benefits and then go home.

Dad waded through all of that and I am sure he was ready to take a nap after the whole ordeal!

Next, Dad installed temporary breakers in the panel, put up all the LED trims, made sure all the switches and receptacles work!

Now, that looks like a house! Thank you Dad!

But that is not all. I told you about the power cord we invested in rather than throwing money at a temporary electric pole for the house. We ran 100 amps from the barn instead. One of the cords has 8 receptacles in a water tight box. I already had the box and we purchased the rest and Dad put it all together back in April. I will eventually put that to work in tent revivals.

The house for Odie now has power and does not need the cord any longer so Dad drove below Hillsboro and wired it into my Father-in-law's temporary pole to provide good power and 8 outlets while Danny builds their home.

Kelly Jo's parents are making a lot of headway on their new home the last several weeks. I hope to have several pictures of that to post soon.

You can see my Dad (Eugene) has been busy while Odie's Dad (Me) has been monkeying around in Missouri, Kansas and now Colorado the last two + weeks. It is a good thing that some one is working.

Thanks Dad! We do appreciate it and we love seeing pictures of the progress!

Hey, thank you friends for dropping in to read the blog today. Thank you for letting us know you enjoy it.
