Is There Anything That Is Not Better Fried?

I told you that the hamburger steak that I ate at Lambert's on Monday would probably not be the last one. Here is the proof!

Late Thursday evening we took Odie to Big Daddy's Grill for appetizers. We wanted her to experience it first hand and it was good. They have live music on some weekends so it is probably not a place we would feel comfortable going on those evenings but at 5:00 on Thursday it was great and family friendly.

We has more of those super fried pickles, fried green beans and fried cheese sticks. Wow! Fried Green Beans! Now that is the best way to eat green beans. Is there anything that is not better when it is fried?

Kelly Jo and I drive around and looked at a bunch of pretty places today. The weather was warm, the sun was hot and the lady sitting next to me in the Green Machine was as purty as ever. It sure is nice being married to my best friend. It was a great final day of rest for us.

We will probably never settle down in one place and if we do it probably will not be on the Gulf or the ocean or the river bank, but it does not hurt any thing to look. The houses and the docks and the boats are beautiful. I would not want to ride out a hurricane right on the coast but the folks I talk to down here just shrug it off for the most part. Although they all have some stories to tell about hurricanes in the past!

Tomorrow we plan to drive about 115 miles to Richton, Mississippi. The tent trailer is parked near Richton at Bro. Scott Morris' church. I will check the tires and make sure everything is secure to ride and then we will pull over to Citronelle. I will try to get the trailer in place and then park the BoggsMobile in the campground about 100 yards from the tent site. All of that should make for an interesting day. Please pray that all goes well as we crank up the tent revival season.

Speaking of Bro. Scott Morris, his grandfather and Bro. Kenny Morris' dad is in the hospital in Hattiesburg tonight. He is a very weak and very sick man. He has preached the Gospel and lived for God all of his long life and he is ready to go to Heaven but nobody is ready to turn loose of him yet. Please pray that God will strengthen him and pray the God will help Bro. Kenny and Bro. Scott and all of their families as well.

Pickles and Claws

Wednesday Kelly Jo and I went to eat lunch at a place just few miles from the campground we are in. It is called Big Daddy's Grill and it is located on a beautiful section of the fish river. The houses up and down that stretch on both sides of the river are amazing. It really is beautiful!

They have a really nice patio section but it was still too cool for us to sit outside although there were a few brave souls eating on the patio. We stayed inside with the rest of the sane folks and we had a wonderful meal. The service was good and the food was good too.

We ordered some fried pickles and they had to be the very best fried pickles we have every had. They were absolutely delicious and there was not one morsel left when we were finished. The pickles would be worth the trip, I promise.

The crab claws were very good too but I probably would have liked them better if I had not just had the fabulous pickles!

Kelly Jo had the catfish and she said it was very good. She had a whole fillet left but I could not even take a bite of it. I was way too full. Good thing for Odie, since she got the leftovers!

Here is the namesake of the place, the Double Big Daddy. 

It was big and it was very, very good but I am afraid it just can not hold a candle to the Double Big Daddy at Ron's Hamburgers and Chili in Oklahoma. They are almost like comparing apples to oranges. The hamburger patties here are thick and the patties at Ron's are thin and big around. I guess I have just developed a preference for thin patties. However, it was very good today.

Kelly Jo and Odie spent a little time at the outlet mall in Foley again today. I studied and prepared for Tent Revival and finished up all of my tax stuff. Whew! I am glad to have that part of it over. I was up way too early again today AND I missed my daily vacation nap. That means I am planning to hit the bed early tonight.

We have one more day of rest tomorrow and then we must get an early start on Friday. Hope you all had a great day.

Resting, Eating and Shopping

Just wash, rinse and repeat yesterday and you pretty much have our schedule for today (Tuesday). Although I was up early, I let the girls rest as long as they wanted. Kelly Jo and I ate seafood for lunch then she took Odie shopping and I spent the day reading and resting. It was a nice relaxing day for all of us and I think the girls both found something to wear for Easter so they were pleased.

We ate lunch on a pier restaurant in Fairhope called the Yardarm. It is a family owned place that is in its 41st year of operation. It came highly recommended by some of the folks at Forts Lake and it was really good. The seafood was fresh and cooked perfectly but their portions sizes were not quite as big as their prices.

I should have taken a picture of the outside but it was so cold and windy outside that I did not even think of it. It was cold out on that pier! We would have walked around the city of Fairhope some but the aforementioned cold wind put a stop to that too. It is a very neat coastal town. It is completely touristy but it has some beautiful side streets with awesome houses and beautiful views. We could enjoy a few days there in the future.

Tomorrow we expect more of the same.

One fish fillet, four shrimp, two small  but very good hush puppies, five pieces of oyster, crab cake and fries. Like I said it tasted absolutely wonderful but for $20 I expect to not be hungry when I leave. Hey, what can I say? I have a big appetite. Of course the ambiance comes with a price too and all of that was pretty cool. Kelly Jo sitting across the table made it even better.
