No Fishing on Thursday!

As I told you before we don't do much when we have time off. We usually go to town once a day to eat a meal and then we drive around in the mountains for a while and then spend the rest of the evening relaxing. We go to bed when we want, get up when we want and eat when we want. We operate on no schedule and make no plans.

On our drive during our first day here we found something we hadn't seen. As you drive into Gatlinburg from Pigeon Forge there is a little park on the right side of the road. The park has a new part and it is pretty neat. It is a new fishing pier on the Little Pigeon River and is built to be completely handicap accessible.

It has a nice big flat concrete platform for fishing.

It has a handicap ramp from the parking lot all the way down to the fishing pier.

The whole project was the vision of William Stevens who served Gatlinburg in the early 90's as City Commissioner and Mayor. He loved to fish in the Little Pigeon River and wanted everybody to be able to enjoy it. We think that is pretty neat. Children under 12 and the handicapped can access the river for fishing and fish for free.

Below is a picture of he Fishing Pier Regulations. Everything is pretty standard except for rule # 2. Can you see it? No fishing is allowed on Thursday....

What? No fishing on Thursday? My guess is the fish don't do Thursdays. Even fish need a day off! That is hilarious to me.....

Have a great day....

Odie the Deer Hunter

Odie and her cousin Hunter Morgan

Many of you have ask about Odie's deer hunting experience this past weekend. Well .... She had a great time with her Uncle Danny Morgan but she is still a deer hunter and not a deer killer! She did get a shot at one from about 65 yards but no hit.

If I understand correctly she hunted from a barn on a neighbor's property on Friday and hunted on her Papaw's property on Saturday. Odie told me they saw some more deer but couldn't get them close enough. I guess that is part of the fun. She will enjoy her first successful hunt that much better when it comes...

She is supposed to try again another day in December so we are hoping she can kill a deer then. Thanks for thinking of her and praying for her. We also appreciate Kelly Jo's brother Danny for taking time necessary for Odie to hunt.

There are a few more pictures of Odie's day of hunting below.

Kelly Jo and I have had lots more of nothing in Tennessee today!

Beechfork & The Woods Family

Today (Sunday) we drove about 80 miles to Beechfork Holiness Church. We had a good service and it was very good to see every one again. After service we went out with the Woods family and some of the other folks from the church.

Bro. Herman and Sis. Margaret Woods, Mark, Cassie, Chase, Tyler and us...

All of the Woods family was able to make it except for Rob and Dena. Dena has been very sick this week. Since they couldn't make it to church or lunch she sent her home made chocolate fudge in their place. All is forgiven! Totally and completely forgiven!

Nothing like fudge to cause forgiveness to spring up in my heart and flow down like hot melting chocolate covering all the hurt and the pain. Of course a double cheeseburger with grilled onions and the grease left in will do the same thing, so I guess I am pretty easy. lol  No sense holding a grudge when you can hold a greasy double cheeseburger instead! Somebody have a napkin?

Other than that, we are pretty much doing nothing and having a ball doing it!

Our Scheduled Week Off

We have scheduled this next week off and we are looking forward to doing as much of nothing as possible. As I mentioned yesterday Kelly Jo and I left home Thursday and stopped by to visit the Noe's and their family that night. Yesterday we stopped and ate lunch with friends.

(Sorry No Pictures, They are all in the Federal Witness Protection Program)

Just joking! We were so busy visiting AND eating that I completely forgot about taking pictures. We met Bro. John and Sis. Ann Gabbard, Bro. Brent and Sis. Teresa Gabbard, Sis. Teresa's sister Trina and her two beautiful boys and Bro. Ron and Sis. Debbie Conner for lunch at Dino's in London, Kentucky and enjoyed a great meal and wonderful fellowship.

Tomorrow we are going to Beechfork for church and then we  are planning to eat with our Tennessee family. We are hoping to spend some quality food time with Pastor Herman Woods and his wife Sis. Margaret and their sons and families. The Woods have been like second parents to us for over 26 years and we hardly ever get to seem them other than when we are in revival at Beechfork. Hopefully I will remember to take some pictures.

We are staying near Gatlinburg, Tennessee this week at a Westgate Resort Property. We checked in this afternoon and it is a really nice place. You can see pictures below. The first two pictures are from their website and the rest are pictures from our building and unit.

We are staying at the Westgate due to the kindness of brother that attends a church we preached in this year. He owns some weeks in a vacation rental program and some of them were about to expire if he didn't use them. He generously offered us the use of one of the weeks and here we are! It was very thoughtful of him to offer and we appreciate it so much. His gift made it possible for us to spend some time is one of our favorite areas and stay in a super cool and comfortable place while we are doing it. Thank you, brother. May God bless you for your kindness and consideration for our family.

God bless you all. Have a great Sunday.

Wednesday and Thursday

Wednesday we went to church at Dodds where the BoggsMobile is parked. This is the church I was raised in and my parents still attend there. We had a good service but unfortunately I only snapped one picture. It was good to be with Pastor Rex Lloyd and all of our family and friends at Dodds again.

Thursday night we were in Danville, Kentucky at Old Paths Holiness Church. Pastor David Noe and his dear wife Sis. Karen have been our friends for many years. We love these folks so much and it has been way too long since we had spent much time with them. We certainly felt the Lord during a prayer line in altar service. We had a wonderful visit.

Sunday we plan to be at Beechfork Holiness Church and then we have a few days scheduled off in Tennessee. Odie is deer hunting in Ohio with Kelly Jo's brother. Hopefully I will have pictures of a big deer to post tomorrow... Or even a small deer!

Hope you enjoy the pictures...

Congratulations Tommy Boggs

Not only is my baby brother very flexible as you can see in the picture below....

But he is also a hard worker...

And very strong...

With a nice smile...

And a pretty wife and son...

But he is also very smart!
(No Picture Included...)

But there is proof...
Tommy just finished nearly three years in nursing school. He passed his exit exam this week and once he passes his state boards he will be working as an RN. He lost his job at GM in December of 2008 when they shut his plant down and he started nursing school the next month. It has been a long hard road but he made it. He is graduating with a 3.41 GPA. Isn't that great? See? I told you he was smart.

Congratulations Tommy! We are so proud of you!
