Update on the Blizzard

The day after the blizzard it is bitterly cold but we are praising God for sunshine that was not in the forecast at all. The sun has made the cold more bearable. I was able to spend some time digging out but we have a long way to go. We are staying very warm inside and we are also thankful the power has stayed on. Kelly Jo snapped a few pictures while we were outside.

Stay warm.

Tulsa, Oklahoma Blizzard 2011

We are in the midst of a historic blizzard in Tulsa, Oklahoma. As of 3:00pm the snowfall is at an all time record of 13.8 inches and it is still falling. The wind is gusting up to 40 mph and will be for quite a while so the blizzard is still on. As you can see from the pictures below the snow is drifted several feet. The BoggsMobile has drifts of several feet on one side and the door has 2 feet in front of it. It won't be going any where for quite a while and the Cheap Jeep is stuck as well. We are warm, well fed and hunkered down. There will be no church of course.

So far we are having fun.

Health Care Struck Down

We should always choose our words wisely. Of course telling the truth all the time helps because nobody has a good enough memory to be a good liar.

Many politicians are willing to say whatever they need to say to gain favor with whoever they are talking to at the time. I suppose they usually get by with it but now everything they say is recorded and searchable on the Internet. It looks like to me that they would watch every word and speak the truth. But it seems Americans will never pay close attention and the liars will never learn.

It is a rare occasion that a politicians words actually catch up to him but this may be one of those occasions. In the 2008 campaign Mr. Obama was firmly against a position because Mrs. Clinton was firmly for it. However as President Obama he has been as firmly for it as Mrs. Clinton ever was. Yet nobody called his hand on it until now. A Federal Judge quoted candidate Obama while striking down President Obama's universal health care plan.

It will be interesting to see how widely reported the story is reported.

Judge uses Obama's words against him.

In ruling against President Obama's health care law, federal Judge Roger Vinson used Mr. Obama's own position from the 2008 campaign against him, arguing that there are other ways to tackle health care short of requiring every American to purchase insurance.

"I note that in 2008, then-Senator Obama supported a health care reform proposal that did not include an individual mandate because he was at that time strongly opposed to the idea, stating that 'if a mandate was the solution, we can try that to solve homelessness by mandating everybody to buy a house,'" Judge Vinson wrote in a footnote toward the end of the 78-page ruling Monday.

Judge Vinson, a federal judge in the northern district of Florida, struck down the entire health care law as unconstitutional on Monday, though he is allowing the Obama administration to continue to implement and enforce it while the government appeals his ruling.

The footnote was attached to the most critical part of Judge Vinson's ruling, in which he said the "principal dispute" in the case was not whether Congress has the power to tackle health care, but whether it has the power to compel the purchase of insurance.

Judge Vinson used Mr. Obama's campaign words from an interview with CNN to show that there are other options that could fall within the Constitution — including then-candidate Obama's plan.

During the presidential campaign, one key difference between Mr. Obama and his chief opponent, then-Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, was Mrs. Clinton's plan required all Americans to purchase insurance, and Mr. Obama's did not.

In the heat of the primaries in 2008, New York Times columnist Paul Krugman predicted Mr. Obama's opposition to an individual mandate could come back to haunt him: "If Mr. Obama gets to the White House and tries to achieve universal coverage, he'll find that it can't be done without mandates — but if he tries to institute mandates, the enemies of reform will use his own words against him."

Mr. Obama has since defended the constitutionality of the individual mandate, arguing it's the linchpin of the program to bring in more customers, which is key to expanding the availability and affordability of insurance.

Great Sunday!

We had a great weekend topped off by wonderful services all day Sunday. We were nearly exhausted when we dropped into bed around 2 this morning but it was a good kind of tired. We were so blessed of the Lord yesterday that it would have been a shame to complain.

Saturday we said goodbye to our dear friends in Weir and traveled about 130 miles to the southwest side of Tulsa. We parked at Hilldale Holiness Church where we are preaching revival this week.  Saturday evening we visited with the Juneau's from Louisiana (they have been in revival nearby) and we also visited with Bro. Marty Millikin as well. We had great fellowship and fun with our friends.

Sunday started with service at Hilldale in the morning and two people getting saved. It was a wonderful service followed by a tremendous meal (pictures below) and then service at 2:30.

The Holy Ghost blessed and encouraged in the 2:30 service as well.  Folks were shouting and receiving the help of God from beginning to end. After church we all went our separate ways happy to have been in the presence of the Lord. I am sure we will have more to say about Pastor Nathan Conner and these fine folks later in the week.

But that's not all! Since there was no service last night Bro Darrell Toliver had invited us to preach at Bethany about 10 miles away on Sunday night. We arrived about 6 for a great prayer service and then it kicked off in high gear from the first song.

Folks were shouting and rejoicing, worshipping God, coming forward for prayer and generally having church until nearly 8. Things began to settle down and church seemed to be just about over when another wave of glory filled that place.

Young peopled came to the altars and service went on until around 10. A young girl was saved, several young folks that were struggling received strength, some backsliders prayed through and the rest of us shouted and danced until we just had to quit!

A meal and fellowship at IHOP, a midnight trip to WalMart finished off the day and explains our late night exhaustion. It was an awesome day.

I know it's a little unusual for me to give such a detailed description of our services but I am excited over the move of God we have been seeing since Christmas. In fact many of our evangelist and pastor friends are experiencing great revivals this year. That is exciting because our families, our churches and our nation NEED revival!  We are in a very crucial hour and we must have revival. Thank God that He is visiting us as He promised in His Word!  Hallelujah!

On another subject, I suppose we need another winter storm because that is what the weather man is predicting. Check out the forecast for the next few days below. Wow!
Pray for us.
God bless you all.

Faith Tabernacle

We are having a great week at Faith Tabernacle. As Dad said Monday these are dear friends of ours!

Each service has been very good! God has had a special plan for each service. I'm looking forward to what He has in store for tonight.

Here are some pics of my little buddies this week! They are precious!

An American Missionary Shot and Killed in Mexico

According to several news stories an American Missionary was shot and killed in Mexico yesterday. Nancy Davis was shot as her husband Sam was trying to drive them away from hostile situation about 70 miles south of the border. It is tragic and this family needs God to help them. I do not know these folks but they seem like very dedicated people. Please pray for this family.

It should also remind us to pray for the Landress family and many other missionaries we know that are risking their lives to work in Mexico and other places. I may update this post later with more information as it becomes available.
